Chapter 31: You can't touch another man

The emperor and the crown prince sat around the table, sipping tea from their respective cups in their hands. "Why did the crown prince hurt the crown princess?" Han Wenji interrogated Sheng Li who placed the cup on the table. "Don't tell me it's because of your anger," Han Wenji said with a stern expression.

"Dad, it was because of anger. I'm sorry," Sheng Li apologized.

“Do not apologize from me. It must be from the crown princess. Will you treat your wife this way? If the crown prince is going to act like this then what about his people? A man who cannot respect his woman must face the bad luck ahead of his life. Remember this, "said Han Wenji and sipped the tea left from the cup.

"I never underestimated him. Even I know my limits, but he is hiding the truth from me," Sheng Li said desperately. Han Wenji slightly laughed and asked, "What truth is the crown princess hiding from you?"

"That he had a childhood friend," Sheng Li replied.

"How will the crown princess tell the crown prince when she never asks him? You never communicate with the crown princess. I was always told that the two of you fought more often than became close," Han Wenji proclaimed and smiled faintly to the crown prince. Sheng Li turned to look at Xing-Fu who immediately lowered his eyes.

"Dad, he was the one who started fighting with me. He always called me a cruel and barbaric man. What should I expect from this? It was very clear that I would fight with him. He's the one who's making me angry. I tried hard to control myself but he made fun of me. I wonder if he used to defeat people with his ridicule or sword," Sheng Li commented. He took a porcelain kettle and poured tea for his father.

Han Wenji took the cup from his son's hand and asked, "Are you jealous knowing a man is so close to the crown princess that the crown princess is ready to sacrifice her life?"

Sheng Li chuckled and replied, "Dad, why should I be jealous? He could have gone inside by asking about the crown princess but he chose the wrong path therefore he was punished." Sheng Li was now troubled by his father's question.

"If he was going to say that he wanted to meet the crown princess, I think there would be a war now," Han Wenji said cheerfully.

Sheng Li looked into his father's eyes. "Dad, I get it. I won't do anything like that in the future. There is one more thing I want to ask," Sheng Li said.

"Will Xue marry the first brother today?" Sheng Li asked.

"Yes. The problem is with the Queen. I cannot interfere in that," Han Wenji replied.

"There's no point in intervening now. You would have agreed to my marriage with Xue before but you didn't. So, there is nothing left now," Sheng Li said with a sigh. The crown prince stood up from his seat and lowered his head. "I'll go now. Once again forgive me for acting recklessly," Sheng Li said and turned to leave when Han Wenji stopped him.

"You also know why Xue married the first prince? The crown princess is the one who will support you fully in the future so, start looking forward to the relationship. An-Ying Lili is a perfect fit for you," Han Wenji stated . Sheng Li did not speak anything and walked out from there, followed by eunuch Xing-Fu.

"You told my father everything. Why?" Sheng Li asked Xing-Fu who was walking behind him.

"Your Majesty, I am more loyal to Your Majesty. Forgive me," Xing-Fu replied.

"Tell the crown princess that I will have lunch with her," Sheng Li commandingly told Xing-Fu who received the order and went to the Zhenzhu Inn. Sheng Li, on the other hand, went to the royal kitchen. "I've never done this in my life. But, for him, I had to. If he doesn't like it, I would never do such a thing for him" the crown prince murmured.

Seeing the crown prince in the royal kitchen, the workers became confused as this was the first time the crown prince had come there. The Royal Chef, Qiu Ying, was informed of this and he came out of the kitchen to pick up the crown prince. He bowed in front of the crown prince. "Your Majesty should have called this chef," Qiu Ying said humbly.

"May I ask what His Majesty's favorite food is, Your Majesty?" Qiu Ying asked.

"Umm.. something spicy," Sheng Li replied. "Prepare the spicy. Don't bother me with more and more questions" said the crown prince in annoyance.

"I'm sorry Your Majesty if I ask a stupid question. I will send food to your room," Qiu Ying said, lowering her eyes.

"Send to Zhenzhu inn," Sheng Li ordered and left the kitchen. All breathed a sigh of relief as the crown prince left the Royal Kitchen. Sheng Li arrived at the Zhenzhu Inn and quickly climbed the stairs. As she turned to the dugout, Court Lady Xu stopped her. "Pardon me Your Majesty for stopping you. The crown prince was not there. Her Majesty refused to meet with you," said the palace woman.

For Sheng Li it was no surprise as he was now aware of Ying Lili's anger. But he was also stubborn, he told Lady Xu to send a maid until she was with the crown princess.

"Yes, Your Highness," replied Court Mistress Xu and walked away. Sheng Li also followed after him. As the servants left, Sheng Li stepped into the bedroom. He continued walking inward as his eyes fell on Ying Lili who was laid on the mattress with her back facing towards him. He approached her and extended his hand towards her but then pulled her back.

"Why are you sleeping on this sunny day?" Sheng Li questioned Ying Lili but she did not answer him. Sheng Li was annoyed by this and he shook his arm. "Sit. There's something I need to talk to you about" Sheng Li said.

"I'm not interested," Ying Lili said firmly.

"It's about the man," Sheng Li said hesitantly. Immediately, Ying Lili turned her head towards him and looked into his eyes. "Don't say anything about him. You already killed him," Ying Lili snapped at him. Sheng Li looked at the tears on Ying Lili's cheeks and he sat down. "Don't I tell you not to cry for another man?" Sheng Li told Ying Lili as he placed his hand on Ying Lili's cheek which slapped her.

"? was?nd, didn't I tell you not to touch me?" Ying Lili snapped at him.

"Why? I'm your husband. I deserve you," Sheng Li asserted as he wiped the tears from behind his index finger. Ying Lili glared at him and once again slapped his hand. "I'm not like other women who will let you claim your rights over me" Ying Lili said and shifted her gaze.

"I know that you are an attention seeker. You like getting men's attention and playing with them" Sheng Li said with a grin. "Aren't you going to listen to what I'm here for, you attention-seeker?" Sheng Li teased Ying Lili who was now at a loss for words.

"The so-called lover of yours is still alive," Sheng Li finally said.

"W-what?" Ying Lili asked.

"I didn't repeat it myself," Sheng Li replied in seriousness.

"He's not my girlfriend. He is Hu Jingguo, my childhood friend," Ying Lili said.

"Prove it then," Sheng Li said.

"Lili, you can't touch another man. I have chosen you as the only woman in my life and I expect the same from you," Sheng Li said with a brooding expression.
