Chapter 39: I want to be yours
The crown prince and the crown princess arrived at the palace with General Xiao via a secret route. The good thing about that route was that they managed to get near the crown prince's inn so no one could doubt it. Ying Lili discovered that from the crown prince's inn there was a route to the Zhenzhu Inn as well, which made her wonder when and why the route was built that way.
Out of curiosity, Ying Lili questioned Sheng Li. "Why is there a secret route leading to my room? And, how does no one know about this?" Ying Lili asked Sheng Li.
Sheng Li removed the whiskers from his skin and took off his coat. "Bring me the water," Sheng Li ordered Ying Lili and sat down on the soft mattress. Ying Lili went to the table and took the jar. Pouring the water into the silver glass, Ying Lili handed it to Sheng Li. He drank water when he heard Ying Lili.
"Are you still mad at me?" Ying Lili looked at him curiously.
Sheng Li placed the glass on the table beside the bed. "Indeed, I was angry. I never run like that. I look like a coward. Then, I have to hear a lot about myself. Those petty people should die tomorrow," Sheng Li said desperately.
"Don't kill them. They tell me what they really feel about you. They don't know that you also have a soft heart" said Ying Lili, with a small smile on her lips.
Sheng Li placed his wait on the left elbow and his right leg slightly bent while his left leg straightened. "Lili, just because I saved your friend doesn't mean I'm good. A good person thinks that if one performs one act of kindness it is called 'Good' but it is not. You will soon find my cruel side." . Up until now I've played you because I wanted to see what a kind woman like you thinks. To be honest, no one is against me but you are the first person to have me amused since the day I met you, "says Sheng Li with a stern expression.
"Sheng Li, do you want me to not know about you?" Ying Lili asked a question that Sheng Li did not expect.
"What do you mean, Lili?" Sheng Li questioned him curiously.
"Your Majesty told me that you are not the person you had in childhood as you are today" Ying Lili said. "You've suffered, haven't you?" Ying Lili asked him. Sheng Li furrowed his brows and looked at the crown princess's eyes for a while and a laugh came out of Sheng Li's mouth.
"Who would dare make me suffer?" Sheng Li asked.
Ying Lili smiled. "Death to your mother," Ying Lili replied and observed Sheng Li's slightly laughing expression. "Dad also told you about my mother?" Sheng Li asked Ying Lili.
"He didn't tell me everything. Dad said he couldn't spend his time with you when you needed him most. That's hard, right?" Ying Lili asked Sheng Li whose gaze of intent gave Ying Lili goosebumps.
Ying Lili was not afraid of him this time because she already knew by now that the crown prince would never touch her. The two looked into each other's eyes. "The palace people will believe now that the two of us are really spending time together," Sheng Li said as he pulled out a dagger from his belt.
"What are you doing?" Ying Lili asked Sheng Li confusedly.
"A small cut alone is enough," Sheng Li said. Before Ying Lili could act, Sheng Li grabbed Ying Lili's index finger and gave a small cut on it. "Ahh," Ying Lili shouted softly and remained staring at Sheng Li.
"This blood is to save your friend's life," Sheng Li said as he pressed down on the wound and more blood dripped from there on the bedsheet. "Thank you for your cooperation, dear crown princess. Let's meet tomorrow." He stood up from the bed and looked for his dragon coat, which was placed on the table there. He put it on and went to his room.
Ying Lili sat on the bed and looked at her finger. He rubbed it and the bleeding stopped. Court Lady Xu walked in and lowered her head. "Your Majesty, the empress has sent a message for you," Madam Xu said.
"What message?" Ying Lili asked.
"You don't go to His Majesty's room for a weaving session. Your Majesty is angry with you for not listening. Your Majesty, you should go there immediately," Madam Xu asserted politely.
Ying Lili stood up from the bed. "I want to take a shower before going there," Ying Lili said.
"Yes, Your Majesty. Please follow me, Your Majesty," said Lady Xu, and the two went to the bathhouse.
Sheng Li went to his room when he met Xue Yu-Yan, who lowered her head after seeing him. Sheng Li ignored him and walked forward when Xue Yu-Yan stopped him. "Your Majesty, you did not stop my marriage to the first brother. May I ask why?" Xue Yu-Yan asked.
"You have to ask this of yourself. You changed your love for me," Sheng Li replied.
"What are you saying, Your Majesty? Should I not say that to you? You promised me when you were 16 that you would only marry me. I can't be angry at His Majesty," Xue Yu-Yan uttered and lowered her eyes. Sheng Li turned to look at him and spoke. "Then forgive me, for I cannot keep your promise. Since His Majesty has chosen you as the first brother, so, I don't want to reject him," Sheng Li cleared himself.
Xue Yu-Yan raised her eyes and looked at the crown prince. "Your Majesty, I will kill myself if you do not stop this marriage today. I want to be yours and I just love you. If I couldn't be with you back then, I couldn't see myself with another man," Xue Yu-Yan said in a stern tone.
