I Am No King's

I Am No King's
Chapter 50 – Past Price

Eh? How come?

"I'm home,"

I screamed, telling my arrival to the residents of the house, which shouldn't be there. But for some reason, I felt their presence. Not only them, but all the elite members of Agade were in this place.

"Welcome, Lugalgin,"

Normally, only Inanna's voice would greet me in the morning. However, this morning, there were as many as eight different voices welcoming me. Other than the eight people who greeted me, there were four people who decided not to welcome me.

I'm not angry at all they didn't return my words. I mean, maybe they're putting something in their mouths or they're just lazy. Yes, we are both guys, so I understand that they chose not to give a reply.

But, rather than that.

"Why are you all here?" ask when I get to the main room.

But no one answered. They smile and continue their activities.

While the boys were watching television, the girls were in the kitchen. Tables and chairs have been removed. In place of the table and chairs, in the middle of the room, a mat was already installed, giving enough space for thirteen people.

Near the bathroom, I saw the figure of Mulisu moving her hands, calling out to me.

I walked to the back and went to the bathroom. Now, in the bathroom, it's just me and Mulisu. No, I'm not gonna do anything weird. I know Mulisu just wants to talk without being heard by others.

Ah, by the way, my bathroom is not small. My bathroom measures 3 x 2 meters with shower and bathtub. So, my position and Mulisu are not close together. We give distance.

"Can you please explain what's going on?"

"This is the story that morning is the moment where you feel the farthest. And, we all agree."

I fell silent, coded Mulisu for him to continue.

"From all of us, only Emirs and Ur do not know about your morning habits because they always wake up during the day. And, we hope, by doing this you can be more open to all of us, especially your two future wives."

I still haven't given an answer. I'm trying to digest all this.

"In fact, Inanna told me that you were angry because she followed you a few times."

Ah, wait, have I ever been angry with Inanna? What makes me angry at women as soft and obedient as possible. A few weeks ago, or a month ago?

Yes, the point is, there was a moment when I warned Inanna not to follow me in the morning. Actually, my intention at that time was to say "if you are curious, just ask directly or ask to come along. Don't try to follow.". Apparently, my intention was not conveyed.

"It wasn't my intention to scold him. But," I was silent for a moment. "I think I should apologize. Given Inanna's soft and submissive nature, she must have thought it made me angry back then."

Mulisu smiled, "you really know your future wife huh."

I snorted, "Yes, that's enough. And again, you yourself know that I wouldn't get angry just because of something like that. Yeah, maybe if it was someone I didn't know or wasn't close, like Fahren or Rahayu, I'd be a little angry. However, if Inanna or the Emir asks, or you guys, I won't hesitate to answer."

"Yes, I know. Surely, at that time, your intention was to hint 'if curious come along, don't hide'. I can guess the way you think, but, I don't want to say it. I want you to tell Inanna straight away. Yeah, if that catches you the Emir might be another story."

Mulisu paused for a moment, then he looked towards the empty bathtub. "We ourselves are also aware that if we want to know, all we need is to ask directly. We may have known their past just in case. However, no one really knows your past. And, to be honest, if asked, we're not ready."

I was silent for a moment.

On the black market, we have an unwritten rule 'if you want to get something, you have to give something equally valuable'. In this case, if they want to get information, or just a story about my past, they have to give their story to me as well.

Me and Mulisu already knew the past of each member of the elite. However, they have not told it directly. So, all we have is limited to information that MIGHT be wrong.

Actually, if I wanted to, I could just give my past away without them having to tell me about their past. However, if I did, they would all feel their debts increased. If that happens, they may become more like dogs that will obey all of my words, and I do not want them. Therefore, I will restrain myself.

At that moment, I felt the muscles in my face stretch, limp. In fact, without me noticing, I had already chuckled at my Mulisu words.

"Why are you laughing?"

"Haha, how ya." I tried to stop the laughter. "Eitherway. I don't know why myself. Maybe, it's just funny to see you guys."

"What's so funny? We seriously know."

"Yes, yes." I was finally able to stop the laughter that appeared. "If one day they want to hear my story, or want to eavesdrop when I tell Emir or Inanna, go ahead. I don't mind at all.”

Wait, did the Emir tell you? I'm not sure if he told me in person or if I heard it from someone else. More specifically, Princess Yurika. Yeah, the point is the same. I already know their past. It wouldn't be fair if I didn't tell you about my past.

"You don't feel like your past is that important?"

"My past is important. Without my past, the present I would not have been created."

"I didn't ask your philosophy!"

"Hahaha, yes, yes," I responded to Mulisu lightly. "My point is, my past is important, but, it's all just the past. I don't want it to be a barrier for me to get closer and earn your trust. If only by telling the past can I earn your trust, then the price is very cheap.

"Particularly you, Mulisu. We've known each other for almost four years, or five? Yeah, that's it." I ignored the time we met. "Of all the people here, you are the one who knows me best. I can't keep my distance from you just because I don't want my past to be known. I want you to trust me, and I want to trust you. It's that simple."

Yeah, I want to trust you, Mulisu.

Mulisu fell silent when I heard my answer. He gave no response and just threw away his face.

"You've changed, gin."

"Eh? Is true?"

"First, if you do something, your personal desire will win. You will always consider the advantages and disadvantages of all things. And, the choice you make must be the most profitable choice for you. Or at least, at least at the least. You think I don't know if you have any other reason behind the founding of Agade?"

I paused for a moment, scratching my head.

"Don't worry" Mulisu added. "I'm not angry even if you have other reasons. Even if they knew, they would be happier. They'll think they've fulfilled their purpose, which is to be useful to you."

I gave a response. "I haven't changed. I am still thinking about all the gains and losses I might experience in the future. And, right now, this choice is relatively the most profitable, or at least the least detrimental, to me."

Mulisu looked at me deeply. "Your eyes are more inclined to say the least harm."

I smile. This woman, although not as skilled as I am in reading people's emotions and thoughts, is still quite competent. He can know what's on my mind.

"Lugalgin! Scream! Breakfast is ready."

The Emir's voice rang out loud, echoing all over the house.

"Yes, let's end up here." I ended our conversation. "For my past and your past, don't think too much. The time will come by itself."

I opened the bathroom door and went out.

"Yes, we're coming,"

At that time, perhaps Mulisu did not intend for me to hear his words. He just whispered. However, since my hearing was quite sensitive, and we were in the room almost closed, I eavesdropped.

Although the Mulisu sentence was not something I could just ignore, I pretended not to hear it and kept my composure.

"Tasha wasn't wrong to have chosen you."
