Chapter 48 - Runaway

Ruby immediately turned her head towards the figure who had reprimanded her. His pupils dilated when he saw Ethan at the door. The man's body was covered in bruises and dry wounds. Bare-chested and wearing only shorts. He held a gun in his hand.

"Ethan.. how did you..." Ruby stepped back. To the closet behind. He was certainly trying to be wary of the sudden attack.

Ethan smiled obliquely. He played the gun in his hand like a toy. Get closer to Ruby.

"You know? Criminals have every way to escape. You don't need to know how I got out of that disgusting room." Ethan said with a serious face. His eyes immediately rolled around. He seemed to be looking for something.

"Sorry, Babe. I have to do this." Ethan sticks the tip of the gun to Ruby's forehead. This caused the girl to feel panic. Both of his hands were automatically raised into the air.

"Show me the way to Ryan's room! I need his clothes" Ethan ordered. Forcing Ruby to lead the way.

Ruby had no choice but to comply. Even so, he won't take Ethan to Ryan's room. Except to Max's room. The distance itself is not far.

When the door of the room opens. Ethan rushed in first. Ruby then takes her chance to snatch the gun that Ethan is holding. The girl throws a kick at the calf, then punches Ethan's arm holding the weapon.

The gun fell to the floor. Ethan, who has not yet fallen, tries to take it back. The same thing Ruby did. The two of them went to each other to get a gun.

Ethan pushes Ruby away, so the girl is unable to reach for the gun. Now the gun is back in Ethan's hands.

"You seem to be an expert at fighting. Your punch is pretty strong too." Ethan locked Ruby's hands together. Then shut her to the bathroom.

Ethan uses his time to wear clothes. He was observing the state of the room he was in now. From the looks of it, Ethan is convinced that Ruby didn't take him to Ryan's room.

The winter suit Ethan wore. He added a cap to warm his head. Next, Ethan opens the bathroom door immediately. Ensuring the state of Ruby.

When Ethan opens the door, Ruby attacks him. A fist that leads right into the face. Ethan, who had expected it, was able to evade swiftly. Knowing Ruby's attitude is braver and smarter than ever, Ethan is forced to return to using a gun as a threat. He pointed it at Ruby again.

"Alright, Ruby. I know you're also intending to escape. How about we run away together" Ethan said, carving an innocent smile. One of his eyebrows raised.

Ruby grunted violently. He's obviously not willing to accept Ethan's offer. If Ryan finds out she ran off with Ethan, her husband will go berserk. Something bad could happen. Ruby is also afraid, Ethan will invite other mafia organizations to attack The Shadow Holo.

"You doubted me? Don't tell me you're still worried about your husband? Doesn't he have a wife besides you. I'm sure he'll let you go." Ethan suddenly counted with his fingers. A few moments later, some of Ryan's subordinates came in. One of them is Gaby. They discover the whereabouts of Ethan and Ruby.

"Take him off, you son of a bitch!" furious Gaby. He and two other men point a gun at Ethan.

Ethan slowly came out of the bathroom. He certainly hasn't let Ruby go. Intentionally making the girl a prisoner as well as a threat.

Ruby tried to carry out an attack. By stepping on Ethan's foot as hard as he can. But his efforts did not succeed in getting himself released. Unexpectedly, Ethan shoots a bullet at one of Ryan's subordinates.

Dor!!

Ethan launches hot lead right into the feet of Ryan's subordinates. Ruby must have been so shocked. He is very worried about Gaby's fate.

"Stop, Ethan!" Ruby ventured into a voice. But Ethan instead re-attaches the gun to Ruby's head. A sense of heat was immediately felt by Ruby, because the weapon had just released one bullet.

Gaby and Ryan's other subordinates automatically unleashed the weapon. They don't want to see anyone hurt. That's when Ethan drags Ruby to escape with him. Ethan will not hesitate to shoot those who stand in his way.

"Ethan, let me take the bag to the room. I promise I won't fight back." Ruby said.

"What?! Don't make it up!" reply Ethan. Still tightening her wrists to Ruby's neck.

"Please, I can't survive out there, without the bag.." please Ruby in a makeshift voice.

Ethan is upset. Even so, he turned out to be willing to obey Ruby's wishes. Go back to the girl's room for a moment. Let Ruby take her precious bag.

"Hurry now!" ethan's urging. He never misses pointing a gun at Ruby. After holding the bag, Ethan drags him back to leave.

Ethan's journey was very smooth, until he arrived at the basement parking lot. Ethan forces Ruby into one of the cars. Then drive the car out of the area of Ryan's tormenting headquarters.

Ruby gave a sigh of relief, when she managed to get out of the headquarters. She doesn't think she's going out with Ethan. The expanse of the city adorned by snow immediately welcomed Ruby's vision. He slowly turned his attention towards the man who was busy driving beside him.

"You're not going to kill me, are you?!" timpal Ruby with an annoyed look.

"Of course not. I'm having a friendship crisis. Everyone closest to me is dead. I'm alone now!" suhut Ethan while focusing on his steering gear.

"Why don't you just stay with Ryan?! Didn't he say you wanted to work together?" ask Ruby.

"Initially so. Ryan's behavior upset me. He locked me up for weeks. Your husband really is a psycho!" answer Ethan.

"Are you not the same?! The proof was that you didn't hesitate to fire a bullet at someone!" ruby's forehead shriveled inside.

"Let's remember, which part of my body was I pointing my gun at?" Ethan looked at Ruby at a glance. "To the feet, okay? I could have shot a bullet in his head. But I chose the leg, because I knew the leg wound could be healed easily" he added.

Ruby is silent a thousand languages. What Ethan said has a point.

"Can you drop me off somewhere. I want to go alone" Ruby asked. The decision has been unanimous. He doesn't need Ethan by his side.

"You sure?" Ethan confirmed. He tried to observe the expression that Ruby's face showed.

"I'm sure." Ruby replied while nodding firmly.
