The entire Algol squad came to a mysterious person with a closed appearance who was offering light stones that he said came from Mayall Village. Just a simple sentence had provoked Algol and his colleagues to suspect the person.
“Can come with us for a moment?”
Algol's question is not like a request, but an order. In fact Kraz and the others had positioned themselves around the person and led him to a quieter path. That person who was aware of the situation complied peacefully.
“What's up? Are you really interested in the light stone I brought from Mayall Village? Of course, right, because the light stone from the village has become a rare item since the village was destroyed five years ago.”
“First of all, can you show your face?” pinta Kraz's.
“No problem,” replied the person. He then lowered the hood that covered his head, which also prevented people from seeing his face. “Already.”
But alas, after the veil was revealed even his face was not visible because the man was wearing a face cover, only short pale yellow hair under the ears and some of his pale skin was visible. A cloth wrapped around his nose and mouth. But from the radiance of his eyes can be seen that the person is smiling.
“The cover—”
“Ah, sorry, I have an unsightly wound behind this cover. This one, please to be understood.”
“Unfortunately we can not,” said Okul cold. “We are soldiers, we have the right to suspect people who look suspicious, and you are in a region where it is mandatory to obey orders from us.”
The man was angry. Not at all hiding his unwillingness. He grumbled to himself while trying to remove his face cover. And when it opened, its pale white face was adorned with a very striking scar on the left jaw, three scratches from a deep slash.
“Kau—”
“Yes, yes, I know! I look creepy, don't I!?” his sergeant cuts off the shock of Alpha and Ursa being voiced simultaneously. “By the time I was a girl,” continued again while removing her coat, making the silhouette of her upper body visible.
Diphda looked at the chest of the girl. “I thought he was a man,” his murmur asserted by Kraz.
The girl leaned closer to Alpha and Ursa. Then with a sharp squinting look of eyes said to the two. “Don't say anything to my face, or you guys will hurt my feelings, and I don't like that,” he said cold and full of threats.
Algol judged that the girl was too bold to threaten the two young men in warrior uniforms who were in the middle of her squad. He watched the girl carefully and soon found out that she was no ordinary girl. He gave a glance at Okul, when he saw how his deputy's response Algol knew that Okul also thought the same as him.
“Nona, tell me your name and who you really are,” command Okul.
“Joa. My name is Joa. And I was a wanderer who sold what he met on his way.”
“What do you mean by you have a light stone from Mayall Village, even though the village was destroyed five years ago,” Okul search further.
“Tell me I'm a wanderer. I only went to that village to pick up the light stones from there because I heard that the village was not occupied by the ramplites, the depletion of the quality of the stones there was the best, he said, so it's a pity that I didn't take it.”
Joa showed off the stones she was carrying in her pocket. There are also some light crystals with unique colors but so beautiful.
“But beyond surprise, it turned out that the village was much safer than I had imagined. It's so safe that it makes it boring. I who hoped to get one or two pieces of information on why the village was attacked in order to be sold to the info seekers failed to get anything. At least I got some stones, so not so much loss.”
Joa watched the soldiers one by one. He grunts amusedly. “Your faces look disappointed, almost desperate,” the banter. “From what I hear you guys get captives from that village, don't use them to the point that you want to find information from strangers like me?”
“Haha. They're not so useful. But also an important piece. That's why we keep it. And will never let go.” Kraz's first utterance contained a mocking innuendo turned cold when saying the last sentence. Alpha who understood clearly the intent shuddered with goosebumps.
“Well, gentlemen and ladies, will you exchange information with me? If you are willing to tell me what the prisoner has leaked to me then I will give you information that you do not know, how?”
“We don't want.” Algol refused. He didn't even bother to think about it.
“Why? It's possible that this will benefit you, Mr. Warrior.”
“Simple. Because we don't trust you.”
“It even benefits us if they really come here, because we don't have to bother looking for them.”
“Ah... of course, if the fugitives appear then you are the one who profit.”
“Buronan?” Ursa scrunched her forehead. “What does that mean?”
“Oh, don't you know? Because the Mayall villagers hold the secret key to the mysterious assault, they are all set to be fugitives. But unfortunately, military soldiers who intend to capture them can not get satisfactory results because the villagers are very clever not to make trouble.”
Alpha looked at Algol sharply, demanding why the information was not told to them. Algol pretended not to notice.
“Alright, since you do not want to buy light stones or exchange information with me then our business is done. I'm gonna go. Must go to another city as soon as.”
"Wait a minute, Miss." Okul prevented him from going. He did not hesitate to issue his suspicions to Joa who had returned to face him. "From the way you speak it sounds that you're so on their side. Why?"
Joa gave a casual snort, unfazed by the accusations. "Because they're the most sought-after source of information right now. Knowing a lot about them can make me rich. That'sthat's all. Good bye."
Joa left them with light steps.
Algol glanced at Okul and Kraz. They both understood immediately. Following the girl and getting more information from her, is what Okul and Kraz interpret from the look on their captain's face after a long time working together.
“We also return to headquarters.”
“Good. Come, come...! We should be right back.” Diphda pushed Alpha and Ursa's backs to move immediately.
“Huh? This fast? Even a new day is coming late in the afternoon. I still want to look around.”
“Captain's order is absolute.”
“I know it, but..” Alpha looked back. Two of them were not there. “How about Mr. Kraz and Mr. An okul? They are not with kit—”
“I gave them a task.” Algol suddenly stopped walking and turned around.
“Tasks?” reset Ursa.
Algol leaned his body until he was completely in front of Alpha and Ursa's face. “Yes. To investigate the girl.”
“U-um... Captain, you're too close.” Ursa muttered uncomfortably.
“Involuntary. Because I wanted to observe your expressions when I told you what Kraz and Okul were up to. How did you react, what did your expression change like, I want to see it clearly.”
“Ke-why?” ask Alpha nervously.
“To prove my suspicion.”
“Suspicion...what?”
“That the girl was indeed a resident of Mayall Village who deliberately came to see you guys.” Algol. He led the way back to the base.
Alpha and Ursa are interlocking lyrics. They had sour faces after gulping each other's saliva. Both of them did not like to hear unpleasant sentences from Algol just now. Most of the expressions the two young men showed were feelings of anxiety and worry.
Joa is a resident of Mayall Village, their friend. That girl is in danger!
