Regardless of his entourage which Alpha and Ursa had left behind, they increased the speed of their horses as soon as the village gates appeared at their distance. Both are impatient. Finally, after five years trapped in the military headquarters they will soon see their village back.
“It's okay to be left like that, Captain?” Okul who was riding beside him made sure Algol was quiet.
“Tak what. They will not run away from us. They will stop after entering the gate.”
Justright. Alpha and Ursa immediately pulled the reins of his horse shortly after passing through the gate of the beautifully carved tree-woods. They jumped down from the horses and observed around. Except for the ruined buildings as well as the lush wild vegetation there was not much change in the village.
They walked the streets, followed by the entire Algol squad. Not much they say. It is the often changing facial expressions that more express their feelings.
“This lodge is also destroyed.” Ursa murmured when he noticed a wooden building that was not shaped properly anymore. The front door was gone out of nowhere, part of the wall and roof were also crushed. “Very unfortunate, but this is what is produced if war happens—ah!”
The young man suddenly flinched. He looked at Alpha immediately.
“Alpha. I'm going to get into this lodge. The back, the place where the kids sleep is still not broken, there is something I want to take,” he said.
Alpha nodded in understanding. “Good. I'll also see my house for a while,” reply. He looked at Algol. “You are free to follow us or look around this village. We won't run away.”
“Fifteen minutes. That's your maximum time,” replied Algol.
“More than enough!” the Alpha exclaims immediately shot away to the northern part of the village.
Ursa enters the damaged lodge. The wooden building that extends to the back is a hut that accommodates orphans. Ursa lives there after the death of her grandmother, the only person to care for her.
After entering Ursa immediately looking towards his room, he did not need to be confused because his memory of the lodging plan was out of his head. Ursa opened one of the rooms doors. The appearance of bunk beds with neat dusty mattresses greeted his eyes. The sight immediately made her nostalgic.
Ursa went up to the top bed on the right, where her bed was. He slid under the pillow. His hand found something and he immediately pulled it quickly. “There!” the thrill was relieved while observing the necklace with a three-chained child pendant.
With a satisfied smile she put on the necklace after getting off her bed. The necklace was hanging right above his magic crystal necklace. “This is my real fetish necklace. With this I just feel complete,” murmured.
Ursa immediately came out of the hut. Since he didn't see anyone around he decided to take a walk for a while. Ursa went around and stopped at an unkempt apple orchard. The wild grass is high. The branches of the tree are sticking out unnoticed. The overripe fruits fell to the ground and rotted.
Ursa suddenly remembered the uncle of the owner of the apple orchard. He, Alpha and his friends secretly stole apples and got angry, but the uncle never punished them. A good uncle. Then he picked an apple that he could find.
“Hopefully that uncle and all the villagers are fine.”
“Ursaa!” Alpha ran to him. “I know you must have visited this place. After all you are a fan of apple.”
“You got something from your house, Alpha?”
Instead of answering, Alpha threw a dagger at Ursa. The young man caught it and checked it and found out that the dagger was a special dagger for the Guardian.
“This was a gift from my father when I was selected as a Guardian candidate. Just used, but still nice and sharp. About his ability to defeat the enemy do not be asked again.”
“But, Alpha, this is a gift from your father. You better keep it to yourself.”
“Receive, Ursa. Assume that this is a blessing from our senior, not from my father. Okay?”
Ursa finally nodded. They returned to the village and met Algol in the middle of the road.
“Your face is tangled, Captain. What are you thinking?” ask Alpha.
“You know, the mystery of how the residents can escape without leaving a trace is very confusing, how they can do it. I always wondered, but I did not find an answer even after going around.”.
“It was just as mysterious for us,” Ursa said. He was confused and curious, but also felt proud of the shrewdness of his village.
“Captain! I got a hint!” Diphda exclaimed from behind a building. They immediately approached the female soldier. “There is a tunnel here. Maybe this is what they use to escape,”.
Algol immediately checked the tunnel in question. Alpha and Ursa looked at each other. They don't know about the tunnels in the village. They're watching around. The tunnel was not in a hidden place, but rather in front of a very easily visible tavern, close to pots of unkempt flowers.
Algol decided to go down and explore the tunnel. It was also followed by others. The tunnel path is not wide, approximately only fit two people in tandem, not so long anyway, the end is a round underground room that is quite spacious. Not long after they got there Okul and Kraz emerged from the other end of the tunnel.
“What the hell is this, Alpha?” ask Okul.
Alpha shakes fast. A sign that he knows nothing.
“Population security system in the event of an emergency. its existence is very confidential to prevent leakage of information..it can be said that this is a blurred path that is only used once...” muttered Ursa voiced her thoughts.
Ursa digs a little. It is seen that there is a path that is deliberately closed. He then dug in another part of the wall, it turns out there too. Kraz who came to help find two more paths. The total number of covered lines is four.
“Once...so this is the underground gathering point, then the escape path is divided into four, and somehow more branching paths are ahead there. Besides, until where does this tunnel lead, who knows?” ursa summed up all her thoughts.
“Truly smart. Even the residents themselves only know in the last moments if they have a tunnel,” said Diphda.
“But strange...the soldier who investigated this village never found the tunnel, but suddenly we can find it,” said Algol.
Kraz raised his hand and cleared his throat. “Actually I accidentally found this tunnel. I fell down suddenly after kicking a large weathered flower pot.”
“I found this tunnel hole inside a former flower shop,” Okul said.
Ursa who was listening to that thought hard. The paths came from a place that could be seen easily, it was strange if they did not know of its existence all along. There must be a trick, he thought.
“Pot...? Mr. Kraz, you said about the pot, right?” Ursa asked suddenly.
“Yes. A large wooden pot. The plant is dead. Just pot and soil,” he replied.
"And Mr. Okul found it in a former flower shop.. then we entered via—”.
Without finishing her words Ursa immediately ran into one of the tunnels. He followed the tunnel until he found the entrance. He pushed the cover that was on it, quite heavy and troublesome, but in the end he succeeded. They all came out of that tunnel. Ursa who was aware of where they were was bright-faced.
“Snapdragon flowers, Alpha! Our village plants those flowers in many places! Besides meaning strength and elegance snapdragon flowers also mean deception and supposition!”
Alpha eyes widen to hear this. “Ah! Apparently so! So the flowers are not only ornaments, but also a marker that where the flower is located there is a secret tunnel. Hahaha...really a fraud,” he said in a loud voice.
Algol. Who would have thought that the secret tunnel to escape that they had been looking for all this time had been marked prominently throughout the village, was completely unexpected. It was not in vain to bring Alpha and Ursa there.
“Then, what about your memories? Do you remember anything about that black and white scene you witnessed?” ask Diphda.
Both Alpha and Ursa shook their heads.
“Maybe we should go there,” Kraz said.
And so, they headed south of the village, the place where Alpha and Ursa were found. They were there for quite a long time, but neither did the memory of the incident cross their heads. Even the two youths also descended into the abyss to try it but the results remained nil.
“Free! I can't remember anything!” alpha is loud. He then fell down and lay down on the grass.
Ursa followed the same. He had been thinking since entering the village. Brain's tired. Perhaps resting while enjoying the afternoon breeze will help him relax a bit. Ursa closed her eyes.
“Awas! Danger!”
Ursa suddenly stood up in shock. Just now, a piece of the incident suddenly entered his head. He looked at Alpha. Feeling stared at the mixed-blooded young man also rose up.
“Ursa? What's up?”
“I remember something, Alpha!”
Hearing the exclamation made the entire Algol squad approach the two. Ursa also told me.
“After we saw that black-and-white sight, Alpha, we passed out. We wake up later, but the ramplites have surrounded us. It was strange that you couldn't move much, your fighting ability was terrible, even your light power control was chaotic so I had to fight while protecting you. But I'm off guard. I'm sure we'll be attacked, but suddenly someone pushes us into the abyss.”
“To kill us?”
“To save us,” sergeant Ursa.
“Dan... who is someone?” ask Okul.
Ursa shook her head. “No, not someone. If I remember him again, he is not a human being but a ramplite. A first-rate ramplite pushes us into the abyss to spare us from another ramplite attack.”
Those who listen do not believe. Bizarrely. That's too weird. A ramplite saving man is impossible! They are natural enemies!
