Towards the Village of Mayall

The trip to Mayall Village was still planned the next day. Algol had reported the incident about Joa to Puppis and got an answer if it was okay to bring Alpha and Ursa on this trip, because after all Alpha would not be able to escape. After all Joa just came to see them, not to try to free Alpha and Ursa. But since Joa didn't do that's what made Algol confused.

When asked about it, Ursa replied that the two of them were not Joa's top priority. Perhaps the girl has something more urgent than sacrificing to free both of them which is uncertain. Because the Guardian's job is to protect the village and its inhabitants, not even other Guardians who are clearly safe without danger.

“Completed!” Alpha pats the back of the horse he will ride later. He had just put a harness on his horse. When he turned his head he found Ursa was still halfway through completing his affairs. Alpha came to him in wonder. “Your face is moody, what is it?”

“I just realized that what I said last night is the most plausible theory why our village was attacked. I shouldn't have said that. Maybe because of that I have accidentally revealed the village secret.”

“Do not get discouraged so. It's just a guess. Though it makes sense, but not necessarily true. Even if you are innocent, you have said it, because it is natural for us to wonder what we are protecting. Whatever or whoever I don't care about. I just want to protect my village and its inhabitants. That alone is reason enough for me to fight against the enemy, don't you think?”

Ursa immediately finished her work putting up the bridle stalled in the middle of the road. Afterwards he catches up with Alpha wearing their warrior attributes. It was a blue dongker uniform with many pockets, belts, boots, red insignia indicating that they were low level warriors, as well as a sword.

Ursa added a bag of weapons containing a wide variety of small weapons that he ordered specifically to his belt. He also brought a rope. And don't forget the dagger that Joa gave. Ursa fondle daggers with the engraving of snapdragon flowers on the handle, the meaning of the flower is strength and elegance, in their village also embedded many flowers.

Algol gave instructions for all the members to get close to him. He explained the route that will be used to go to Mayall Village. From there they will pass south of Bode City and head to Mayall Village which is at the eastern end of Padgontry region in Earthland.

After finishing with the explanation of the route as well as the points where they will rest the Algol squad departed from the military headquarters. It didn't take long for them to get out of town. The areas around the Milky Way are also safe areas. The road is flat and wide, not too quiet, and along the way there are grasslands and beautiful small forests.

Alpha and Ursa had no idea of the scene at all because when they were taken to the Milky Way they were unconscious. They've been wrong all along. Because they assume that the streets outside the city or village are quite dangerous forest where the ramplites can ambush at any time. The thought was obtained because that was the situation outside their village.

In addition to the road Mayall Village has no other access. The south part of the village is a steep ravine. On the west side is a large river. While the eastern region is a very large dense forest. Although the forest did not include any part of Darkotry, the ramplites often went into the forest to sneak in and try to enter the village, although their efforts will always be thwarted because the village security soldiers are always patrolling not only inside but also outside the village.

The forest area was also the place for the Guardian candidate training. The forest was already like a simple replica of the survival picture for the Guardians. Because they are usually trained to track down the presence of ramplite in the forest and face it alone, similar to their mission as a Guardian.

Alpha laughs amusedly remembering himself used to often fail in a task. That task is herding. Where all Guardian candidates are given a goat for their shepherd in the forest and asked to assume that the goat is the one they must protect, if they fail—for example let the goat run away or die—they will get punished. The punishment involves raising a goat boy to adulthood for an ordinary human Guardian candidate and making a goat clone for a star or mixed human who possesses the power of light.
