“How much longer until the settlement is fully completed, Okul?”
“Maybe..” Okul thought for a moment to estimate, “about four more days.”
“Good. After that we will go directly from here.”
“How about your health?”
“I've improved even though I haven't fully recovered. But, I don't want to linger here,” replied Algol.
“Why?”
“I guess Sir Aldebaran doesn't really like our presence in his city.”
“Ah..” Okul nodded in understanding.
Hearing the response made Algol frown his forehead. Curiously he asked, “You know something?”
“When I asked him to take care of those mixed humans he objected. However, Sir Puppis appeared suddenly and ordered him to obey my will, including taking care of our needs and your care. Being asked like that by Sir Puppis definitely could not make him refuse. Probably because of that.”
“So apparently. Now I understand why he instigated Alpha to run away from us.”
“Eh?”
“Me, Okul, keep an eye on them both. Make sure they don't plan something behind us.”
“Good.”
...***...
On their last day there Algol went to a new mixed human settlement. He wanted to know what their new home was like. And there he was very well received. Mab represents his people to thank.
“Ah, since this is your last day, then I will show you something,” he said. “Please, come with me.”
Mab took the six of them to a house that had been built. The house is quite big. It is located in the middle of the settlement.
“This is a lodge. It belongs to no one. We made it so that the people who stopped by this settlement could get a decent place to live. Actually, it's made especially for you. If you are near here again do not hesitate to stop by our settlement,” said Mab.
“Thank you, Mab,” said Okul representing the joy of his colleagues.
“No, Sir. It is you who deserve our thanks. From protecting us to making us settlements, you've done too much for us. We don't even know what to reply to.”
“Mr. Mab,” call Algol, “we are warriors. We should have helped you. After this, we will leave you and you will have to move on with your lives without anyone's help. We didn't do much. We just do what we can.”
“Sir.” Mab.
“Ah, I heard from Okul that some of you practice using the power of light. How did it go?” tanya Algol diverted from the blue raking talk.
“Very fun, Sir. We are still not proficient, but we learned a lot from Sir Okul,” replied a young man.
“Good. Keep practicing. If you guys are great then you can protect your own settlement.”
“Good, Sir!”
“We need to get back to our own city soon. Hope you are well from now on. Goodbye,” said Algol. He shook hands with Mab, who was closely held by him.
After chatting with Algol, Mab immediately approached Okul. He stopped her from saying thank you for all the help she had been given.
“Sir, without you we—”
“It doesn't take much to say thank you, Mab. Lead them properly and make sure you live in peace, that is enough in return for our kindness.”
Mab smiled sincerely. “Yes, Sir.”
“Goodbye, then.”
“May you and your team be fine always, Sir.”
Okul nodded. He then left there with his other colleagues. Before it got too far, Alpha once again shouted farewell loudly while waving his hand.
They're back in town. It's late, so tomorrow they're leaving. That night they completed formalities with interested people at the military headquarters, such as Sir Aldebaran and the doctor who took care of Algol. Then, do not forget also to the mayor of Bode City.
“Finally. Well, it's not that I don't like it in this town, but all this time I worked really hard. Whereas previously we were just lazing around watching Alpha and Ursa.”
“I understand how you feel, Kraz. It is better for me to fight against a strong man than to do such labor, ” Diphda said.
“You're right,” reply that man.
“Then... Mr. Kraz, Ms. Diphda, will you escort us tonight? Me and Ursa plan to tour the star human settlement,” said Alpha.
“On our last day you still want to go for a walk? At least rest. Tomorrow we will take another long journey,” scolded Diphda.
“No, Ms. Diphda. We are not from the streets. Alpha just wants to finish what he started,” Ursa said.
Kraz and Diphda thought for a moment to remember what Alpha had done. The two were jolted with amusement realizing that the young man's original intention was to pump up the society in the star human settlement.
“I'm coming,” reply Kraz spirit.
“I have no other choice but to escort you,” replied Diphda resignedly.
Algol who listened to the conversation stood up. “I'm also participating then. I want to see how you guys provoke them,” he said with a defiant smile.
Not willing to be left alone at the military headquarters where they were staying, Okul also participated in a small tour that night. They walked down the streets in the bright star human settlement. Light stones placed at certain points glow colourfully in place of oil lanterns that create pollution. Light stone is not only bright, but also beautiful, its function can be as a decoration to beautify the city.
They do not get into places that are comfortable with the impression of luxury, but instead look for a simple restaurant, which is a gathering place for many people. They are stared at by the risi for bringing Alpha and Ursa into their area. As before, they were indifferent.
Algol picked a table for them. Unmitigated, he chose a table that was in the middle. Let's be the center of attention, he said. Since they had dinner, they only ordered drinks and snacks.
“Alpha. You can start your provocation. I'll see it.”
Getting a challenge from Algol doesn't make Alpha a minder. He only replied, “Wait a minute, Captain,” in a rancid tone.
“Aaah! It's delicious! After a full day of hard work building a new settlement for mixed people it is the best to spend the night with drinks, right, Ursa?”
“Yes. You're right!”
“They were... I was actually worried about them,” Alpha said again, still in a loud voice.
“Why? You've already awakened them a place to stay. Nothing to worry about anymore should be.”
“No, no! Can't be so! You know for yourself that I am easily sympathetic to others. As for them, the mixed humans, they did not have people who could protect them. Because I heard they are not liked by the residents of this city,” said Alpha. Then, without warning, he turned to the table beside him. “Hey, is that true?” tanyakanya.
“U-uh, yes,” replied a man of stumbling.
“You heard it yourself, right, Ursa?” Alpha stared at Ursa. His friend nodded. Again, Alpha turned his body to the opposite table. “What do you think of an ordinary human being?”
The man who was asked Alpha had a confused face. “What do you mean? I don't understand.”
“I asked if maybe ordinary people would help them?” reset Alpha.
“That's impossible,” says an older man. “They are just as unhappy with mixed humans.”
Alpha pretends to be jolted at hearing this. He patted his forehead hard. “Really too! I remember how they looked at me with dislike when I went to their territory.”
“It's your fault for entering a region that is not your place,” the man's sergeant was fierce.
“You're right, Uncle,” reply Alpha. “But I don't think they hate mixed people very much. Because when I got there and they heard from us that the newly formed mixed human settlement looked like it was planning something. What yes? Um.. ah! If it is not wrong they discuss plans to protect the settlement.”
“Hah? Don't lie! I know it's impossible. They obviously hate mixed humans, just like us. Where could they possibly want to protect the settlement!” refute the man.
“I'm not done talking, Uncle,” Alpha said. “They didn't do it for the sake of mixed humans. From the rumors I heard back there, they did it for a game.”
“Games?” ask the curious man.
Shines of joy appeared in Alpha's eyes. He was glad the man had eaten his bait. His friends who knew Alpha's purpose from the beginning secretly smiled amusedly at Alpha's acting was quite convincing.
“I don't know exactly what they're planning, but I'm sure they mentioned that the match they could have won easily. And this has to do with protecting mixed human settlements. Because I'm not from this town I don't understand what they're talking about. If you know, Uncle, can you tell me?”
“If they say the match, then the only thing that comes to mind is the match against us to be the best,” the man replied.
“Wait a minute!” Someone said in a loud voice. A burly man. “If they believe they can win the game, then it is a match that only they know about. And you, boy, you said they wanted to protect the settlement, right?”
Alpha scowled angrily called a boy, but he tried to ignore it. “Y-yeah. What's up with that?”
“Sial! They're trying to fool us!”
“What do you mean by that?” ask someone impatiently.
“They must be sure we are not interested in protecting the hated mixed human settlements. But, if we do not participate in their game, they will be very easy to say that we lose. That's their wits!” snarl.
“We don't need to take a headache. Just let them do it. If we lose, we do not lose. There is no advantage gained from the match,” said someone.
“Sorry for interrupting your conversation,” said Algol suddenly, “but, I see the settlement is not far from this city. If the ramplite attacked there and the ramplite won, then the ramplite would head straight for the city thinking that the people in this city were weak. If that happens and happens to be an ordinary human being is watching the settlement then they are able to dispel the ramplite, then praise will be obtained by ordinary humans.”
“Ah! So, so! Now I understand why they say that this match they can win,” Alpha said aloud. “They do not intend to win from you alone, but also to win the good opinion of the population, the military and also the government of this city. And knowing that you are reluctant to take part in the game actually makes them more confident to win it. How ingenious!”
“If you think again it can be so,” murmured Ursa. “Entah who is clever here, but we can use a lot of excuses here. Call it if they avoid having protected mixed human settlements because it means harming hatred against mixed people, he said, but because of the location of the settlement close to the main city they can reason that there is no other way but to protect it, whereas the protected is the main city.”
Hearing these words made the people in the diner whisper to each other. The plan was indeed sneaky, but they could not blame him because the match between the two sides was already unhealthy. From there, opinions began to emerge that stated that they could not stay silent. They cannot get to the rescue.
Diphda really smiled amusedly hearing all that. In fact, the clever person Ursa was referring to did not exist. There are only those who are too narrow-minded to be easily fooled by Alpha.
“Well, are we going to go quietly like before?” Diphda asked in a soft voice at Alpha.
The young man shook his head first before replying, “No. We will say goodbye politely so that they thank us for giving them information.”
Justright. When they all said goodbye after paying their bills the man was burly and the man thanked them quite happily without knowing they were being deceived. They came out of the shop quietly.
“Well, but I was surprised that the Captain wanted to join the Alpha show,”, Kraz said.
“Because I don't want only Alpha to be the great character this time. I haven't done anything here, so I thought it would be fine to add a little spice.”
“And it was a very spicy spice, Captain. Thanks to you everything went well. Although of course I had planned to say that from the beginning, but because other people who said it actually made the provocation more natural because I did not myself say everything,” said Alpha girang.
“I didn't think you were that good at pumping people, Alpha.”
“Hahaha. Vice-Captain Okul, you should be more aware of my prowess from now on,” reply Alpha big head.
“Then so, Mr. Okul, Alpha is also easily heated. After all, the nature of the boy inside him is still thick.”
“Oi, Ursa!”
Ignoring Alpha's protest, Ursa spoke again. “And how Alpha is good at pumping is because he likes to pit our friends so they fight, then he will make himself mediator to be branded as a good boy by our teacher.”
Alpha protesting again. But no one bullied him and he was laughed at. The young man nodded in annoyance.
“At least you did it, Alpha. Even if they did not become moved by the provocation earlier, but the conversation will be imprinted and will have an effect. It doesn't have to be now or in the near future, maybe even far in the future. But, there must be a result,” said Algol sage.
“Ya.”
