The Village Girl And the Fox Prince

The Village Girl And the Fox Prince
Chapter 27 - Blue Full Moon Night.

“Good at home, Hazel. I've had permission for Mrs Marrie. I told him not to be too hard on you. When you get home from work, you have to be careful. There are a lot of bad guys who are after you.”

Lynx said that when it was finished preparing and immediately going away from home. In front of the house, they faced. Say goodbye while saying a few things before actually leaving the house.

Taking a deep breath, Lynx resumed his words, “Patience, Hazel. Until the time comes, we will both leave this village. At least until our debt to Mrs Marrie is completely paid off, then we can run away from here calmly.”

Hazel nodded in understanding, her thin lips carving a sad smile. From the bottom of the heart, there is a disconnect present. But it has not been able to exceed the sense of prestige that first outperformed themselves.

“Sorry has been troubling you all this time. Sorry for making your life so full of noise because of my annoying behavior. To be honest, I'm very happy to see you. Because of you, I understand that falling in love is so much fun and so painful,” Lynx said.

Slowly his tall body retreated, further stretching the distance between himself and the girl. Until when his body is no longer facing Hazel and busy looking forward to reach himself, when Hazel shed her tears.

Through Lynx's words, Hazel somehow thinks that this is a farewell without any reunion. Awakening a sense of regret for fostering prestige and ego that blinds his own feelings.

“Sorry,” Hazel with her head down, her hands hugging themselves sobbing.

Slightly raised his gaze, in front of which the figure of Lynx had already completely disappeared. Along with the twilight that withered and followed by the sky that began to darken.

He left with nothing but clothes attached to his body. Hazel wants to prepare clothes and some food for her, but Lynx resists forcefully. Makes Hazel worry even more because she's still confusing things.

About the purpose of Lynx who wants to settle where during the trip, also the reason behind his sudden want to go like this. But there is one question that was in Hazel's mind to bring up another presumption.

From the old food stalls that they had visited a few hours earlier, precisely when discussing the full moon with bright blue light, that was when the difference in Lynx's attitude was very noticeable.

Hazel again wonders, what is the reason Lynx asked for time to be alone for the reason of the full moon? There could have been something that happened when the rare full moon had appeared.

“There are still many mysteries about him that I do not know yet. It's so torturous. If I could easily find information about a creature like Lynx, I might not need to be confused like this. Or at least Lynx wants to tell me the real reason, but ... Ah, stop.”

Hazel walked into the house, closing the door. Light a torch in every corner of the room to give light. There was a strange feeling that he felt when he saw the old house that was usually occupied.

The room was empty, quiet and silent as if it felt different now. Lynx's absence here makes Hazel feel chaotic. Usually every night he heard the sound of a fox roaring funny, but now there was no sound other than a cold wind blowing.

Hazel slumped her body to the floor, her back against the cold wooden wall. Then bend the legs so that they can embrace themselves. Put your chin on your knees while closing your eyes.

“There hasn't been an hour, but why do I feel lonely? From the beginning, I was familiar with loneliness. No one accompanies and gets used to doing all things on their own. I haven't known Lynx for a long time, but why after she left do I feel like this?”

It's weird, and sometimes it doesn't make sense to think. But that's how love enters and sneaks into someone's heart. Even if the heart is full, or as hard as a rock, love can conquer it.

The days passed quickly, but for Hazel who felt that time was very slow. Go and go home to work Hazel did it over and over again for more than three days.

But still as much as Hazel could concern herself, the thought of Lynx always perched in her mind. Short memories that do not want to be remembered, instead rotating spontaneously in memory. It's like a drama series that shows flashback scenes.

Even Hazel unconsciously counted the days, guessing when the man would return. Whether where his feet rested, his eyes were so agile that they scattered all over the place to see if there was a Lynx there or not.

But unfortunately, Lynx was never found anywhere. It is like being swallowed by the earth, that is how it is. Free to look everywhere, Hazel has resigned.

“Come, focus!” Hazel patted her own cheeks, getting tired because it was difficult to control the contents of her mind that always bounced everywhere.

This afternoon, when her work was done and she was walking towards home, Hazel looked at the empty land that was now busy with many people. Some of them are so nimble to put up a lot of booths for an event.

“Wah, traders are already flocking to take the stalls for their place of sale. It seems like a prophecy tonight that says that a blue full moon will appear will really happen,” said a girl who happened to pass near Hazel.

“True. We should come for fun. There must be many young men who are still single, at least I have to get one of them,” said his friend.

Hazel who heard their chatter could only smile while moving back her footsteps, trying to bury deep into a dream she could not possibly have realized. After all, for now Hazel had no interest in being attracted to other men.

In his heart he has established a name, though he has not been able to admit it. Like there is but not considered. But it can still be felt. Not a matter of prestige this time, but rather self-consciousness.

But still it has been slapped many times by reality, Hazel has not been able to accept it. If only the world would approve, maybe Hazel would not worry to immediately express her heart.

“Hazel!”

The voice of someone calling out to her repeatedly made Hazel again stop her steps. Looking back, it was Marrie. The woman who owns the shop where she works.

Why did the middle-aged woman force herself to run around until she was barking just to catch up with Hazel?

“Mistress? What was? Did I make a mistake?” Hazel has been thinking negatively, because she doesn't usually get followed like this.

But when she saw Marrie shake her head, Hazel was a little relieved. “Not, Hazel. But it's about tonight. Since a rare full moon will appear, will you come to the store to get back to work?”

“Quiet, I'll pay you higher than the usual daily wage. Hows it? Although Edgard does not exist, but it turns out customers still arrive,” continued to persuade.

Hazel thought for a moment. Actually his body was a little tired, but he was tempted by the persuasion offered by the old woman. Luring a larger daily wage, Hazel thinks twice.

In order to pay off the debt in order to quickly leave this village, Hazel must be able to strengthen her body from the feeling of tiredness that whack.

While widening his smile, Hazel replied, “Sure, Madam. I'll come tonight.”

Night came, and as per the prophecy that said tonight there would be a rare full moon, it really did happen. The village at night which is usually quiet, now the residents are crowded out of the house to celebrate this festival.

Although Hazel never celebrated such a festival, thanks to working in a Marrie shop, she knew what happy people would look like with their loved ones or family.

While gazing out the window to see the clear night sky, Hazel continued to pull the corner of her lips to smile. The moon with a perfectly round shape and beautiful bright blue light is very spoil the eyes of who is looking.

Until Hazel finishes her work, the moon remains in her place. The more night, the blue light from the moon looks brighter. And many people pass by just to taste the various foods sold.

“Good work, Hazel. Here's your wages for tonight,” Marrie said, handing over some money.

But Hazel refused. “Just write as payment of my debt to you, Madam.”

“Are you sure? I've cut some of your wages. This is the rest of your wages, you better save it to buy something.”

Again, Hazel shook her head. “It's okay, Mistress. I don't have any items I want to buy.”

Since there was nothing to talk about anymore, Hazel said goodbye to go home. Want to quickly lay his back that was stiff like a board, it felt very sore.

In the middle of the journey, Hazel repeatedly met people with radiant faces and smiled without any burden. Even a little bit dazed Hazel wants to be in a position like them.

“Oh, come. Why envy them?” Hazel muttered sadly, turning her face away from the crowd there.

Upon entering the deserted streets, Hazel felt something strange. Many times his head looked back because he heard the sound of footsteps that were like they were trailing.

But when I saw it, there was no one. As her feelings get worse, Hazel speeds up her footsteps. But unexpectedly, a man hiding behind a tree suddenly jumps in front of Hazel.

He's the guy who was chasing Hazel the other day. Just by looking at her face, Hazel immediately felt her legs go limp. His mind was currently filled with whispers telling him to immediately run away.

“I've been waiting a long time for this. I make sure tonight you will not be able to escape again,” he said with a malicious sneer at the end of the speech.

“K-you?!” Hazel slowly moved back as the man advanced on her.

But his body suddenly froze in place as his back accidentally hit something. Not a tree, because Hazel knew very well that she was on the street. It was heard once behind his ears when there was the sound of someone's breathing.

Error, not someone but more than one. Because the breath was felt on the right and left sides of his body. Fear grew so high that Hazel's mind was so confused that she couldn't look back.

“Said don't expect you to escape. Because this time I didn't catch a wild rat like you alone, there are many of my colleagues who are already like hungry wolves, they are very interested in you,” he said while laughing like a villain.

In this position that has been besieged from various sides, will Hazel really fall into the hands of the evil man?
