Three days later...
A cold wind hit my hair that was left unraveled. I sat alone in the long chair in the campus garden. The heat of the day seems unable to beat the cold wind. And now I'm reading the Dubai City catalog. It turns out that this city is the target of tourists from abroad.
The area of the area is not too big, but has many qualified tourist destinations. And it seems I am interested in visiting a beach that is said to be very beautiful pampering the eyes.
When can I go there?
I've been looking through the catalog of this country myself. Every day while waiting for the next lecture hour, I always sit here while reading the catalog. But today it looks a little different.
"Hi, can I sit down?"
A young man was suddenly in front of me. He wore a black shirt and blue jeans while attaching a bag on his right shoulder. He also holds a basketball.
"Em, please."
Don't know who he is, I'll let him sit next to me. I continue reading this catalog.
"These few days I've always seen you here. You're a new student, aren't you?" tanyanya is now sitting next to me.
"Em .. yes." I answered him while smiling.
"I'm Taka." He stretched out his hand, shaking hands.
"Ara," I replied as I placed my right hand on my chest.
"Em, okay." He pulled his hand, as I understood. "Every student here is not alone except freshmen. If you want to find out about college, I can help you." He offered help.
"Em, thank you," I replied immediately.
"Ara, don't be so stiff. You can be bullied later. Just relax. Consider us old friends who have just met." He explained it to me.
Bullied out? For a moment I thought about his words.
"The campus has a lot of organization. Instead of your own, better join the others." He suggested.
"What's really going on?" I suddenly wanted to know.
"What do you like?" He asked me back.
"Em, I love theater, dancing or playing music" I said immediately.
I don't know why I've known him for so long. We were very close. Maybe this is the path God gave me to make friends.
"There is a theater. It's dance and music. If you want to join, I'll deliver it" he said.
He's very kind.
The young man next to me was very nice. He offered to help and suggested that I enter the campus organization. Looks like the offer from him wasn't bad for me.
"Em, okay. But I still have an hour of college today. Maybe by late afternoon is over" I told him.
"What's wrong. I'll wait for you here. Then I say goodbye, Ara. See you later." He left in front of me.
Taka ...?
Don't know who he is and what makes him so kind to me. But it seems, he's an old student here. Well, I just had to look through the city catalog while waiting for the next course. I try to fill my days by keeping myself busy.
Sir, it's been four days that you haven't been home. Do you really want to get away from me?
I honestly miss him. It seems like a long time no see. But, I was embarrassed if I had to send him a message or call him first. In the apartment I also busied myself with college assignments. And now I'm getting used to it without him. I'm not leaving until he's really kicked me out.
Mister, gohome. I waited for you.
A breeze of daylight accompanied me in an indescribable longing. I hope he comes home tonight. I miss him. I don't know what I miss, but I hope my misses get to him.
Three o'clock in the afternoon, Dubai time and beyond...
"Hey, Ara!"
Someone patted my shoulder from behind. I immediately looked towards him.
"Taka? You surprised me, you know!" I was shocked because of it.
"Em, sorry." He bent his body.
"Eh, it doesn't need to be that way." I feel bad myself.
"Haha. It's okay, Ara. This is my culture back in Japan" he said.
"Japanese?" I asked and started walking with him.
"Yes, I'm from Japan. Here because of the opportunity to exchange students." He told me.
"Oh ...." I'm stunned.
"You alone?" ask again.
"I'm from Indonesia" I replied with a smile on my face.
"Well, that's a long way, yeah!" He's not thinking.
"Yes, that's it. Where are we going now?" many divert.
"We're going to the campus theater hall. I'll accompany you to look around first. If you're interested, you can join today." He smiled at me.
"Em, thank you, Taka. You've been so good to me." I returned his smile.
"What's wrong. Let's just say it's a welcome from a college senior," he said, laughing to himself.
Eh? He's my level brother?
"Ara, here don't be stiff. Consider it an old man. Usually, people who are stiff experience oppression. So be flexible." He reminded me.
"Em, fine." I'm trying to accept it.
"Well, that's the building! We'll be there soon."
He pointed at a place. It seems like it is a building devoted to staging or maybe a hall for graduation students. I don't know. Let's see it later.
I tried to follow the advice of my new friend. His body is also tall. I was just his ears. Maybe he's almost as tall as my master.
Sir, you haven't called me yet.
I continue these footsteps towards the building in question. Along the way we chatted lightly and he showed us what places were on campus. I also try to remember it well.
It may take a few weeks to get used to the new environment.
I admit if I'm late. The new school year has passed three months ago. So I didn't get to follow the one called ospek. Or no times here, huh? I know less too. I've only been here a few days. So maybe it's better to just follow the current. And I wish Taka wasn't the badboy who used me. Hopefully in the future we can be good friends.
"Well, we've arrived. Welcome to the campus's theatrical organization, Ara."
Before long we finally arrived at the building in question. Taka then opened the door for me. I see inside this building it's like a staging stage. Or more like a movie theater. And on the stage down there are seen some students are practicing theater.
"How, Ara?" Taka invited me to come closer to the stage.
"I'm happy." I smiled and walked with him.
"We'll just sit here." Taka took me to sit in the third row from the front.
"He-it." I followed him too.
We saw the theater rehearsals of the students from the seats that were next to each other. I don't know why our closeness could be this fast. Yeah, let's just say he's my new helper angel on campus.
