Everything becomes uncontrollable. Every time I tried to hang out with Aleah, he pushed me over the edge. I've gotten used to his antics so I usually ignore him but over the past few days, he's really pushed me. His antics with me drove him before we reached the schoolyard and picked him up outside the school continued. I also tried to avoid him at school just to make things go smoothly between us, but it was obvious he didn't want that.
My hunch is that, he's starting to try to cause a rift between David and me. It started with me losing three of my new lipstick makeovers. I already bought a set of six different colors online, two weeks ago. I've tried three of them and still haven't used brighter colors. When I was ready to try the new pink color I bought, I noticed nothing. I searched all over the place, even where I used to keep it, just to make sure that the lipstick was there but it wasn't. I realized, if anyone accidentally took it from my place, I even planned to ask David if he saw my lipstick. However, at dinner I realized where my lipstick was, Aleah.
"Good color, Aleah." I said to him while putting down the fork.
"What?" Aleah asked while looking at me.
"Lipstick." I said looking at him carefully.
"Oh, that. Thank you." Thank you." Aleah gave me an arrogant look that confirmed what I had expected, she was the one who took my lipstick.
"So where did you get it? I have the same color as that." I said try to give him bait.
"Why are you wearing lipstick? You're just eating and you don't want to go anywhere." David commented, unaware of the truth about what happened between Aleah and me.
"Dad, you won't understand. You're not a woman."
"Wait, aren't you still young to wear makeup? I never gave you permission to wear those things." David said to him.
"Seriously, dad? Fifteen years old, I'm not a kid anymore. After all, all the kids my age, even the young ones, are already wearing makeup."
"You are my son Aleah and I don't expect you to act like that."
"Dad, you have to start accepting the fact that I've grown up. I won't be a child forever, but I will always be your daughter." Aleah smiled at me.
"No doubt about it." David smiled lovingly at her.
It's unbelievable. I decided to face him after dinner. He couldn't just leave and take my things for granted.
"Aleah, I need to talk to you." I stopped him at the foot of the stairs.
David is still in the kitchen and Alisa is on top watching cartoons.
"What do you want?"
"Why did you take my lipstick?" I asked with my hands together.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Aleah shrugged his shoulders.
"Yes God! Are you accusing me of stealing !?" Aleah raised his voice.
"Down your voice, I'm trying to keep David from getting involved. And yes, you took it without my knowledge without asking." I told her. "If you want to, all you have to do is ask. I'll give it to you, I'll even buy you a full set if it's necessary. I won't have a problem with that, but if you check my stuff and take my stuff without my permission or my knowledge, it's not good."
"So you call me a thief !? If you knew that I was a thief, why didn't you just call the police !? Or better yet, why would you stay here if you knew I was a thief? " Aleah started screaming.
"Aleah hold your voice, I don't ..."
"What's going on here?" David asked when he joined us.
"Ask your girlfriend! He accused me of being a thief. I don't even know what he's talking about!" Aleah.
"Naomi?" David looked at me for an explanation.
"I don't call him a thief."
"You said so! You just called me a thief and accused me of stealing your stuff! I don't even know what you're talking about and now Dad's here and you want to deny it? I don't think you're just an accuser but a manipulative liar!" He yelled at me before running up the stairs.
This kid! She deserves an award for her great acting.
"Aleah!" David called out to her but she continued to her room and slammed the door of her room hard.
I rubbed my hands on my forehead and tried to ease the tension that had accumulated due to the recent situation.
"What happened, between the two of you?" David asked me.
"none. Don't worry about that." I sighed as I started to climb the stairs.
"No, it's nothing." David stopped. "There's obviously something if Aleah is upset."
"David, I told you not to worry about that, okay? It'sit's nothing. Just a little misunderstanding."
"Naomi, I understand that you and Aleah aren't on good terms but if anything happens, I think you should let me know. If there's a problem, you think he took something you should tell me. Let me see if I can solve this problem. "
"No problem, David. Like I said, it was just a misunderstanding, alright. Now if you don't mind, I'd be very happy if I could just go upstairs, brush my teeth and go to bed. I'm tired enough today."
