I just walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water and ran. Aleah stood by the refrigerator with a glass of juice. As soon as he saw me, he scowled and started coming out.
"Aleah," I stopped him, "can we talk?"
"No! I don't want to talk to you, Naomi. Now, get out of my way," he said as he stepped around me.
Why should I bother trying to talk to this kid?
I sighed, I walked into the cupboard to pull out the glass, I heard Alisa screaming scaring me. I almost dropped the glass but by reflex I caught it before it fell.
"Uncle Sean!"
"O Lord Alisa." I heard a man snort with a laugh, "You must leave this to Aleah now. Oh now you're a big one."
I looked towards the door and saw the person hugging Aleah. I didn't have to stare long enough or look at his face properly, to know that this person must be David's brother. I didn't want him to notice me so I decided to take some water and I didn't expect us to face each other.
"Who is this?" I heard him ask and I looked up and saw him walking into the kitchen and smiling at me.
"Nobody," Aleah frowned his eyes.
"Aleah, don't be rude," she said looking at him, "Wow, you must be ..."
"Naomi, are you ..." David started when he came into the kitchen as well, but then his eyes looked into the eyes of the man who looked very much like him and a wide smile appeared on his face. "You've finally come here."
I watched them laugh and greet each other like good friends. As soon as David walked in the room, Aleah glared at his back before disappearing. He was still angry at her for being around him.
"Did you meet Naomi?" David smiled waving at me.
"Not yet officially," his brother smiled watching me, I smiled back and reached David's side.
"Naomi, this is my brother, Sean. Sean, this is my wonderful girlfriend, Naomi," David smiled, wrapped his arms around my waist.
"Wow. So this is the girl who stole my brother's heart. Nice to meet you," Sean smiled before pulling me into a hug that really surprised me.
"It's good to see you too" I smiled back at him.
"Let's sit down, I can tell you all the embarrassing things about David" Sean laughed.
"I'm ready to listen" I smiled before looking at David.
"I'm still your sister, it's my job to bother you."
"So this fool thought nothing would happen after stealing dad's car and sneaking away to a club" Sean told me as he, David, was, and I sat around the coffee table.
Sean wasn't kidding when he said he would tell all the embarrassing stories about himself and David growing up. So far he's confused me and it's even funnier to listen to David trying to turn every story around.
"You're the one who pushed me. That was all your idea" David replied with a laugh.
"And that's what makes you a fool. Naomi, she was eighteen and I was fifteen. Everyone knows you can't listen to your sister about certain things. He was supposed to be an exemplary child instead of him deciding to take me with him to a club."
"I didn't know you liked clubbing, "I told David.
"When I was a teenager, I wanted to try my lifestyle as a real teenager in preparation for college life" David replied.
"Well, I'm sure you went to college with enough experience" Sean laughed, "Look, he stole Dad's car and we snuck into the club. About an hour into the club, we were enjoying all the booze and dancing with the girls when someone said to me, "Is that your father?" I started running through the crowd to head to David who was comfortable in the corner with a girl. By the time I made him aware of the situation, father had seen the expression on his face, Father, when he saw us it made us realize that if we stayed at that club any longer we would never be able to live with the shame we would face so we ran out from there. Everyone saw us and Dad chased us."
"Oh my God," I couldn't help but laugh again, "So what happened?"
"I think you can guess what happened. We thought we outsmarted Dad when we got back here. I came and caught David first." Sean paused for a moment to hold back the laughter of "Imagine his butt in a whip by dad."
"Tell him what happened to you after..." David laughed, shaking his head.
"Well, of course I was whipped too. But, hey, at least I'm still considered a kid."
"That was the last time it happened and I think we really provoked him that night" David replied, "At least I was never beaten again after that, how much more did you get after that?"
"Maybe that's all. I'm just telling you embarrassing things about you for now" Sean laughed.
We chatted again before Alisa came out and asked if it was okay to sit with us. I can't forget how polite and sweet she is. I mean compared to her sister who should know that she's the sweetest. The 6-year-old was polite enough to see an adult sitting down and having a conversation and asked if he could sit down with us? The boy was adorable, he had enough manners and everyone knew that when he grew up, he had to ask before joining them.
"You don't want to sit with Uncle Sean?" Sean asked as Alisa came to sit next to me and David instead.
"Maybe later," Alisa replied before leaning her head on me, "I want to sit by the side, Naomi now." Sean raised an eyebrow, "Am I still your favorite uncle Alisa?"
"I think you're still like that. She hasn't replaced you with anyone else" David laughed, "But I think Naomi is his new favorite person now."
