Tonight I borrowed my father's car, drove it to a restaurant. I prayed all the way, praying that the man I was going to meet was indeed in accordance with reality.
Once I got to the location, I parked my car right across from the restaurant where we were going to meet.
I looked out of the car window, noticed whether the man had arrived or not and ascertained whether the man was in line with the one in his profile.
The plan was today we met at Fireflies at 18:30 and I arrived here at around 18:15 so, I still have a few minutes to prepare myself and mentally to meet him.
At exactly 18:26 I saw him walking towards the entrance of the restaurant. His car he parked a little far from me with the opposite lane. I only saw his face with a glance before he turned around and entered the restaurant.
The thing I saw, he was on time.
I tidied up before I got out of the car and headed for the restaurant. And immediately, I quickly entered the restaurant to impress her that I was also the one on time.
After that, one of the waiters of the restaurant led me to the table where the man was.
The man was named David and I'm grateful that he was real and not what I thought he was.
He then greeted me kindly and then he pulled out my chair so I could sit down. I don't know if people are still doing that, I really think that even though David is an older man - he still has the values of politeness that he instills in him.
"So, your real name is Nao?" David asked me while waiting for our food to be served. We ordered a meal a few minutes ago.
"Yes, but actually Naomi," I told her.
"Not really," I chuckled at how the nickname came about, "Actually my best friend, Karin, he was the one who created the account, so he was the one who made the nickname."
"You know, I was wondering after meeting you, but now I understand," said David, confusing me.
"What do you mean exactly?" I asked him just as the waiter came back to bring our food.
We both thanked him when the waiter put two plates of steak and a confit duck with potatoes in front of us.
"I mean, now that I've met you personally I can't help but wonder, well you're a pretty, smart, smart young lady as you described on that dating site." David told me, "Especially, someone with a name like that, you don't really seem like the type who needs online dating. Now I understand that you did it because of your friend. Friends can be a little influential, right? "
"Yes, sure. He was determined to get me to the site. Even though I told her I wasn't interested" I said to her, "What about you? Why are you on a dating site like that? I don't see you as the kind of guy who needs the internet to go on a date like this."
"really? Are you saying that I'm attractive, handsome and young well haha" David joked.
"Actually you're very handsome ..."
Wait what!? Omg, did I really say that with pede. Oh hell.
"Yes God. I'm sorry I didn't mean to. I don't know what happened to me. I'm not usually this brave, I'm ..."
"No, it's okay. Why are you apologizing?" David chuckled, "Just relax. You just honestly gave me a compliment that might make my head big now, but thank you. Don't apologize to me, I honestly appreciate your sudden courage like that, making me feel great about myself. Don't you see, you just increased my ego and my confidence. And for the record you're even more beautiful."
