"Mother!" a voice called out to a woman lying on a bed in pure white. The punctures on the cheeks seemed to tickle the nature of his consciousness. Unknowingly smiling those lips.
Laughter of a little girl also crammed his senses. Stung it into his brain. "Stop that, baby!" Mumbled softly in his sleep.
That crisp laugh again rubbed the eardrum, it squirmed. Turn around, and roll over with a blanket.
"Mother! Come, play. Take sister too, I want to play with Brother." A gentle shake he felt on his upper arm. The little hand touched her until she hugged her body. Whispering in the ears of women who refuse to open their eyes.
"Mother, let's play! I want to play with my sister." The unceasing sound of his whispering disturbed the calmness in sleep. Slowly, a kiss landed on the temple leaving a wet trail there.
"If you want to play, just play. Mother still wants to sleep." Still reluctant to open his eyes.
The little girl's hands tightened on her body. He placed his head on the cheek of the woman he called the Mother.
"Mothers should be happy. Now there is a sister who will accompany Mother to play. Mother will not be lonely anymore. Keep smiling, Mother. Never be sad again." The murmur made the woman's lips form a smile. However, his forehead shriveled deeply.
He embraced the small body using one hand. Heavy felt his eyelids to open. Severe as it is now, it feels more calming.
"Please promise me that you will be happy from today." The woman's head nodded. His hands were up and down rubbing the little girl's back.
"Mother, Sister is crying! Didn't you hear it?" He told me through a whisper in his ear.
"Let it go, there's Dad there. Mother still wants to hug you." He was making unconscious. Why is it so hard to open. The frown on his forehead was getting deeper in sight. He himself did not know why, he refused to open his eyes.
"Mother, they are calling Mother. Does Mommy still not want to wake up?" the whisper is getting louder. The woman held a hug on her small body. He kissed the little girl's forehead even though his eyes were still closed.
"Mother still wants to sleep with Nafisah, let it be." There was no word from the little girl. Her tiny index finger was playing on her mother's cheek. Sometimes piercing, sometimes incised abstract writing that is not legible.
"He's dead!"
"Darling!"
"Mom!"
"Mother!"
Those calls started popping into his eardrum. Mixed with the cry of a baby that never subsides. Frowning the woman's forehead, not understanding the situation she was facing.
"Mother, I have to go now. We can't be together anymore. Mother must return now," said Nafisah remained like a whisper in Nadia's ear.
How explain? Nadia shook her head and tightened her embrace. Smile at the lips, but tears fall involuntarily.
"Don't go anywhere, Mother still wants to embrace Nafisah." Shaking that tone, a sobbing was heard from him. But his eyes are still closed.
The sounds of the calls continued to buzz in his ears, the baby's cries grew stronger. Sweat seeped from the pores of her skin soaking all over Nadia's body.
"Remember! Mother should be happy. There is a sister who will comfort Mother now. I'm no more, I have to go. I love Mother." A soft caress, a wet kiss on the cheek, increasingly reluctant Nadia parted with him.
"No! Nah! No!" Start to become aware of the situation. Her tears were trembling. His hands fumbled over the figure of Nafisah that disappeared in a crib.
"No! Don't go!" he said slowly shaking. His hands were still fumbling, only empty air was there.
"Darling! Wake up, open your eyes!" A real voice sounded. He remembers and tries to open his eyelids to wake up.
"Sir, Zahira is looking for her mother. Open your eyes!" Another voice came to fill his ear drum. The sweat grew increasingly mixed with tears that had seeped.
"Dear, Nadia!"
"Nof course!" Open his eyes, looked at him around in confusion. His face looked down at his own hands. He fumbled his stomach and chest as if looking for something.
"Mas! Where is Nafisah? She hugged me, Mom." Without lifting his eyes he spoke. Everyone's cries broke to see Nadia who still could not accept Nafisah leave.
Uncle Harith hugged him, he held both hands of Nadia who was still looking for the figure of Nafisah in his arms.
"Angedes, Mom. There was a breath, she hugged me. Why did it suddenly disappear?" racau Nadia again made everyone sad. Ain could not see it, he cried in the arms of Ikram.
Now she is so sure, for five years more that Nadia really became a mother for her three children. Especially for the youngest Lust which he did not notice his presence. Bilal hugs Ruby, crying can't bear to see Nadia who keeps raving about Nafisah.
Zahira was still crying in her arms looking for her mother. However, the woman was still delirious yet fully conscious.
"Nadia, Nafisah's gone, baby. He's gone" said Harits' uncle, tightening his arms around Nadia's body. The woman in the embrace heard her husband's words. His brain thought, digesting the meaning of his sentence.
"The story's gone, baby. He's gone, you have to be strong." Crying the man. Nadia's love is not a joke. Nadia shook her head, rejecting the reality she had heard over and over again.
"No, Mas. He was here, hugging me. Because my eyes can't open, maybe he went out," Nadia refused still on her thoughts. His heart refused, but his body responded to the truth. His crying became more and more, a roar sounded.
Ain detached himself from Ikram, he walked slowly and crouched under Nadia. He gently rubbed the calf of the woman, his tears were no less flowing.
"Nadia, you have to be sincere. The breath has left us all. He's gone, you have to be strong, Nadia." Vibrating the sentence that Ain said, ravaging Nadia's faith. The face turned its head slowly, raining down on his wet manic.
"lik! Why are you lying to me? The breath must be outside, I'll look for it myself." She let go of her husband's embrace, got up and ran while shouting Nafisah's name. Uncle Harits is chasing his wife.
"Nof course!" Nadia's voice echoed to every corner of the house. Uncle Harith pulled his hand, Nadia collapsed in her arms with tears that there was no sign of stopping.
"Darling! Realize, no one is lying. The breath is gone, she is no more!" said uncle Harits slightly pressed his tone to make Nadia aware.
Both of Nadia's arms were tightly gripped by the man. His gaze was piercing, Nadia flinching.
"You scared me, Mom." Shimmy and vibrate Nadia said. Uncle Harith softened his heart, relented. He hugged Nadia's body and gave her understanding again.
"You heard, didn't you? His breath was taken by his owner. He was calm in his place. This is reality, Nadia, not a story. We all can't accept it either, but age nobody knows. All that we have is a mere deposit that His owner will one day take away. Youunderstand?"
Uncle Harith took off a hug, stroking his wife's wet cheek while deepening his gaze. Nadia pecked, she had to strongly accept all of this. Crying again while hugging her husband's body.
