Second Time

KEN-MISI FIGHTS FEELINGS

It's been two days Jane's gone, I've been feeling so cranky today. Two days of not seeing that girl's smile made my life spirit decrease, it seemed like I missed her a lot. I'm reminded of Liam's wedding which will be held early next month, tomorrow is the last date of the month which means the wedding is one day away. Because of that I was a little worried about Jane, I was afraid she was hurt again.

I quickly walked out of my room into the Dafa room. No excuse me for going in there and sitting on the couch. Dafa immediately looked at me with an unpleasant look but I didn't pay attention to him at all.

"Why are you here, Ken?"

"Daf, I want to ask you something."

"What's that?" Dafa looked curious.

"Let me take a short leave of absence."

"What do you want? Do you want to meet your ex-boyfriend across the island?"

"Hey, don't bring up the matter again."

"Wouldn't you be on leave last time because of that?" Dafa chuckles.

"That was." I snorted in annoyance, yes that was once when I was still in contact with my lover, I took some time off to meet him.

"Then, why are you taking a leave of absence now?" Dafa scrunched his eyebrows together.

"I want to attend a friend's wedding."

"Oh yeah? Am I not invited?"

"No."

"Can I come?"

"No."

"You're suspicious, Ken."

"Suspicious what? I just want to attend my friend's wedding." I defended myself.

"Hmmm, all right, so when are you going to take your leave?"

"Tomorrow and the day after, just two days." I smiled broadly.

"What's? Will there be a meeting tomorrow? Are you telling me to take care of it alone?"

"No, I'll finish everything necessary for tomorrow's meeting, you take it easy I'll also ask Grace for help to accompany you. You like him, don't you?" I glanced at Dafa.

"Huh, you used Grace's name to seduce me."

"Hmmm no, it's just like a symbiotic mutualism, this situation is equally mutually beneficial for us."

"Just your excuse, Ken."

"So you're letting me, aren't you?"

"Yes, go."

"Oh, thank you my beloved president."

"Don't overdo it, get out of my room now."

"Huh, you kicked me out?"

"Yes, go away, you're interfering with my work."

"All right, I'm leaving."

I came out of Dafa's room, I didn't go back to my room but I walked towards Grace's. I knocked on Grace's door and went in there. Grace looked at me in surprise, maybe she was confused as to why I had entered her room alone without Dafa beside me.

"What's up, Ken?" Grace looked at.

"Grace, can we talk as friends today?" I don't want to make small talk and I don't want to talk to him formally in this situation.

"Yes, please Ken. Sit down." Grace let me sit on the couch, she looked even more confused.

"I want to ask you for help."

"What's that?"

"Do you know about Liam's wedding?"

"Liam?"

"Yes, Liam." I'm nodding.

"Jane's ex-lover?"

"Fright."

"I know, the wedding's gonna be called the day after tomorrow, why?"

"Are you invited?"

"Are you coming?"

"I can't come, I have a lot to do." Grace shakes.

"May I replace him?"

"You?"

"Yes." Yeah." I'm nodding.

"Why? Do you know Liam?"

"I'll explain it to you later, but not now."

"What is this about Jane?" Grace asked back.

"Yes." Yeah." I'm nodding.

"Mmm, well, you owe me an explanation, Ken."

"Yes, I'll pay for it later. Can I request your invitation?"

"All right, wait a minute." Grace opened the desk drawer and was seen unpacking its contents.

"Here, you'll just show it to the guards later."

"Yes, thank you Grace."

"Together."

"Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Can you accompany Dafa to the meeting tomorrow? I'll take two days off."

"All right." Grace nodded.

"Thank you Grace, you've helped me a lot."

"Yes." Yeah."

"I'll be back in my room soon, I have a lot to do."

"Yes, Ken. Remember you owe me an explanation."

"Yes." Yeah." I waved and walked out of Grace's room. I walked quickly to my room, I have a lot to finish today.

It was late in the afternoon, soon the time to go home from work would arrive. I'm trying to finish all my work for the next two days, stay a little longer and I can relax at my cut. I breathed a sigh of relief when my work was finally done, I tidied up a lot of documents and put them on the shelf neatly.

I leaned my body in the chair, resting my sore back. I took back the wedding invitation Liam gave Grace earlier. I opened the fancy-looking invitation box and took out the paper scroll inside. I pulled the ribbon that bound the scroll and started reading it. I recorded the address where the wedding was and put the paper back in the box.

I was planning to come to Liam's wedding to see Jane, rather spy on her. I want to make sure the girl is okay. I don't know why I'm so worried about her condition, even though I know Jane won't do anything to hurt herself. I have set my heart on going to Singapore alone.

I have arrived in Singapore, I am staying at a hotel I used to visit with Dafa. Tonight I have to sleep fast and I have to get rid of the evil shadows in my head. I tried to close my eyes, there was no Dafa beside me, there was no one here. I felt a little scary, but I kept trying to sleep.

"I'm a grown man, why should I be afraid of ghostly shadows?" I nodded to strengthen myself.

Even though I kept saying the words to awaken the courage in me, I was still afraid. I really regretted my time, why did I witness the bloody murder before my eyes until the ghost followed me until I was this old. I finally decided to call Dafa on a video call.

"Are you scared again, Ken?" Dafa's face immediately appeared on my phone screen.

"You always know how I am." I chuckled

"You always have been."

"I haven't fully recovered from that trauma, the ghosts keep following me." I let out my grievance.

"I'll take you back to the psychiatrist later."

"Does that matter?"

"Of course it matters."

"All right, I'll do it later."

"Where are you? I kind of recognize that room."

"I'm staying at a hotel, the design is similar to the hotels we've been in." I lied, I haven't told Dafa about it, if he knows now maybe I'll be his plumbing material.

"Oh yeah? Are you going to bed Ken?"

"Yes, stay there Daf until I fall asleep." I closed my eyes.

"Hey, did you tell me to watch you while sleeping?"

I no longer answered his question, I kept my eyes closed. I heard Dafa's voice cursing across the street, but he didn't turn off his phone, he always understood me. I no longer opened my eyes, I just enjoyed the sound of the man's nagging until I had fallen asleep.
