Not Intentionally Cheating

Not Intentionally Cheating
Chapter 19 Looking for a moment of calm

The very refreshing morning air made the eternal in Nayla's mind instantly disappear. His smile came off when he saw the sun rising so beautifully.

The sun that was still hiding looked timid, making her remember her life which was still hiding from the shadows of fear for her husband.

Nayla turned her face to the sky, hoping that a gust of wind could refresh her face that looked tangled due to the many thoughts.

The morning sunlight hit his face and over time made him glare when he opened his eyes.

However, when he opened his eyes, there was someone blocking the sunlight from him. Nayla squinted her eyes, trying to see the face of someone who was now in front of her.

She faintly saw a sweet smile from someone she knew. Nayla's eyes twitched to see the person before her looking at her with a sweet smile that pierced her heart.

Nayla's heart was racing just by seeing the sweet smile of a man who was blocking the sunlight from her face.

“Devan?” chirping Nayla involuntarily, as if hypnotized by the smile Devan gave her.

“What are you doing here Nayla?” devan asked with a sweet smile on her.

“Mmm... I. I was waiting for Caca,” replied Nayla with a stiff smile.

To be honest, Nayla is embarrassed to meet the parents of Calista's friends in such circumstances. Moreover, that person was Devan who had met him many times. And he's very close to Calista, his son.

Devan looked at the clock that was coiled around his wrist. He was still in the position of turning his back on the sunlight to protect Nayla from the sunburn while saying,

“Still long. You'll wait here until school?”

Nayla smiled bitterly at the question from Devan. It is true that he does not know what he will do while his son is in school.

Usually on her days off, she always went home to clean her house. Of course she never met her husband there. Because at those hours, Bayu always never be at home.

“I'm off and I've done all the work at home. Now I don't know what to do,” replied Nayla with a bitter smile.

“You should wait for Caca at the cafe only. So it does not have to be hot in this place,” said Devan who is still in a standing position in front of Nayla.

“I just follow where my footsteps take me away. Here I feel free without any restraint and pressure. And here I feel like I'm waiting for something,” said Nayla with a loose smile because her face was swept away by a gust of wind.

“Waiting?” devan asked as he scrunched his forehead.

Nayla smiled and nodded her head confirming what Devan was asking. Then he said,

“Waiting for my freedom from the shackles of the rules that always put pressure on me.”

Nayla said all of that unconsciously. I don't know why he's like he's without the burden of talking to Devan.

It seemed like Devan's calm and loving nature made Nayla comfortable talking to him.

Nayla is so sorry for Devan who was sobbing in the park hospital at night when Keyla died. Nayla's heart trembled to see a father shed his tears to accompany her daughter's departure.

And Bayu, Nayla's husband held her dignity so high that she would not embarrass herself in front of the crowd.

Moreover, crying in a public place, it was certain that he would not do it. As much as possible he will always keep his pride wherever he is.

Devan smiled pityfully at Nayla. I don't know why he was concerned about her. But on the other hand he was very comfortable talking to her. Her maternal attitude made Devan salute her.

“It just so happens that I will go to Keyla's dorm to pick up the items brought by the Police to serve as evidence at that time. Do you want to come with me? Looks like we can get here again before Caca gets home from school,” Devan said trying to cheer Nayla who looks like she is thinking about many things.

Nayla looks confused. He looked at the clock on his left wrist. Then he looked at Devan with his confused face.

Devan smiles at her and she pulls Nayla's hand, so Nayla stands up from her seat. Then he said,

“Try once in a while to find pleasure for yourself so that you can calm down. Forget for a moment Caca was in school. Get Caca back when she gets home from school.”

Unknowingly Nayla nodded her head. He agreed to what Devan suggested to him.

Devan smiled at the nod of Nayla's head. And he pulled Nayla's hand to walk towards her car.

I don't know why the two of them did all that unconsciously. They don't think long. They just follow their heart. They are hypnotized by their charms.

Nayla feels awkward being in Devan's car. He sat next to Devan who was driving. He doesn't know what to talk to her. He could only say in his heart,

Whatisthis? What am I doing now? This is not true. Why would I leave Caca in school?

Nayla's little heart felt guilty. He blames himself for easily agreeing to Devan's invitation to go with him.

Nayla had told herself to go with Devan because she wanted to thank the hostel mother and apologize to her for not having taken a proper goodbye at the time.

Unfortunately, when he was in Devan's car, he doubted what he was doing.

Devan felt a clear sense of uneasiness from Nayla's face and attitude that always sighed.

“I know you're worried about Caca. You feel guilty for leaving without waiting for him,” Devan said while focusing on driving.

Nayla turned her head towards Devan and she nodded her head, confirming what Devan had said.

Devan just glanced from the tail of his eyes. Then he smiled as what he said was justified by Nayla.

Devan tries to shift Nayla's anxiety by telling her about her family. About his relationship with Keyla who is not actually his biological child.

Nayla was surprised to hear that. He can't speak. She is amazed at Devan's attitude and Devan's affection for Keyla, who became her child after the age of nine.

Very rarely did he find a man who loved their stepchildren as much as his own. Even his attention and affection exceeded that of his own biological mother.

Keyla was very proud of him as her father. She deserves to be proud, Nayla said in her heart.
