Devan is confused as to how. He was eager to bring his daughter's body to be buried near his family. But he had to think about his wife's feelings.
Last night he was thinking about his daughter's body. He contacted his uncle who was in the village to ask for help in burying Keyla at his uncle's place.
In a different city, a woman was just silent without having any expression. Liana, Keyla's biological mother, does not want to see her daughter one last time. He did not even accept his daughter's body. Shocked, shocked and guilty. That's how he feels right now.
“No, not because of me. He was in an accident because of his boredom. I even reminded him not to wander the streets. I told him to go home and he didn't obey me. See what is now happening because it is not according to me,” Liana said while emphasizing each word.
He tried to convince himself that everything that happened to Keyla was not his fault. He believes Keyla was in an accident because of herself. Not because he was arguing with her over the phone at the time.
Even he did not dare to meet his daughter's body for the last time. His hatred for his daughter was already rooted. He had plans to keep his daughter away from him and his family. Unfortunately without that plan, his daughter had already left this world for good.
The next day, Devan prepared to deliver his daughter's body to the village where his uncle was. It just so happened that Calista was allowed to go home at that time. Calista had only gotten minor injuries on some parts of his body. Somehow the way God protected Calista, he only got hurt, not as badly as Keyla who had to get surgery and lost his life.
“Om, Caca would like to take Kak Keyla,” Calista said with a full gaze of supplication on Devan.
Devan is eager to see Calista who lost Keyla so much, just like him who lost his favorite daughter. His hand gently rubbed Calista's unraveling hair as he said,
“Surely Keyla is very happy to have a roommate who has been considered as her sister is very fond of her. And he must also be very happy to be ushered Caca to his last place.”
Hearing what Devan said, Calista shed her tears. She recalled Keyla's face and her days together with Keyla.
Looking at the crying Calista, Devan immediately hugged her and said,
“Don't cry anymore. Keyla will surely be sad later.”
In Devan's arms, Calista nodded her head. He didn't want Keyla to be sad about it.
“Baw Caca into my car,” Devan said as he pressed his car key so it sounded and the car light turned on.
Nayla nods her head and takes Calista into Devan's car. They both wait for Devan who still gives the ambulance driver an address to deliver Keyla's body.
Devan's car was in front of the ambulance. They head to the village where Uncle Devan lives to bury Keyla.
Every now and then Devan sees Nayla and Calista from the rearview mirror in the middle. He smiled faintly at the closeness of the mother and child sitting behind him. It was so warm and nice to see them.
It was inevitable that he never saw Liana and Keyla as close as Nayla and Calista. She tells him that Liana is so workaholic that she is rarely home. Even he rarely met Keyla, let alone played with her.
After a few hours, they arrived in a quiet village away from the noise of the city. They buried Keyla's body in the cemetery of their extended family.
“Why doesn't that woman come?” asked Uncle Devan in a annoyed tone.
“Liana is working Uncle,” Devan replied.
“Which mother can calmly work while her daughter is being buried? He refused to accept his daughter's body. Is she really her birth mother?” uncle Devan asked with anger.
“If he feels guilty, he should make amends by being near his daughter one last time,” Devan's uncle said in response to remarks from Devan.
“Already Uncle, I don't want Keyla to be sad if you hear it,” Devan said stopping their conversation about his wife.
“Is she really Keyla's birth mother? Why is his attitude towards Keyla like his stepmother? Look at the woman and her daughter who came with you. Uncle believes they're mother and son. But seeing Liana's attitude towards Keyla, Uncle wasn't sure if they were really mother and son,” Devan's uncle said as he pointed at Nayla and Calista using his chin.
Devan only sighed hearing what his uncle said. He did not dodge it because everything his uncle said was true. He could only look at Nayla who was sitting while hugging Calista while gently rubbing her hair.
“Uncle told me back then, Uncle didn't agree you were married to that woman. It's not that he has children, Uncle loves Keyla very much, he's a very good and independent boy. Uncle just doesn't like the attitude of his mother,” said uncle Devan who let out all his hatred for Liana.
“Already Uncle, Keyla is gone. We don't talk about it anymore,” Devan said with a faint smile on his uncle.
After a while, Devan finally takes Nayla and Calista home. Before they return, Calista asks to be escorted back to Keyla's tomb for a farewell.
“Sorry if you come home late for coming with me,” Devan said as he drove his car.
“No. We should thank you for bringing us home. Yesterday I rushed to the hospital, so I didn't change my clothes and didn't bring a bag or purse. Luckily, my phone was in my hands at that time,” Nayla said with a faint smile laughing at her stupidity.
“Then, how do you pay for a taxi? Or maybe your husband delivered you yesterday?” devan asked curiously.
“With this,” answered Nayla while showing her phone.
Devan smiles at Nayla's answer from her rearview mirror. Then he said,
“Luckily now it's advanced. So there is no need to carry a wallet again when going to transact.”
Nayla smiled and nodded her head, agreeing with what Devan said. After that they fell silent again, they were unwilling to wake Calista who was asleep.
After a few hours, they finally reached Nayla's house. Devan helps open the door to Nayla's car carrying Calista.
“Let me help you carry him into the house,” Devan said when he saw Nayla holding Calista.
“Not necessary. Thank ye. Let me,” said Nayla while trying to hold Calista's body in her arms.
“Emmm... can I meet Caca if I miss Keyla?” devan asked doubtfully.
Nayla smiled and nodded her head while saying,
“Of course you can, because you are already very close to Caca. For sure he'll be very happy to play ball with you.”
Devan smiled happily at what Nayla said. After that he said goodbye and Nayla carried Calista into her house.
