AUTHOR POV
Davis was silent to Dave's words. His heart seemed to be pinched hearing it. It is possible for people in the western hemisphere, will consider what Davis and Jess do is ordinary, but not for the beliefs held by both of them. However, what Davis did was wrong.
“Give me time to think clearly sis! If indeed I should marry Jess, I want to marry her on my own accord, not because of the insistence of any party!”
“Wait for your answer in two days!”
“Then the sister candidates themselves, who?” ask Davis later.
“Let's know too! Two more days I'll announce who he is!” dave answered and walked out of his study, leaving Davis still seated.
Meanwhile, in a different place, Narita has now arrived at his office. He deliberately came early because he wanted to neutralize the pain in his heart and by busying himself to some work that was delayed.
Some time later, he remembered to call his family in the village. But he was again disappointed because even this time, he could not call his mother. Bad thoughts began to poison him. He was afraid something bad might happen to his family. Why the number of Father, Mother, and sister simultaneously can not be contacted. Narita is confused, who else he will contact considering he does not have a neighbor's phone number in his village.
“Assalamu’alaikum!” suddenly the voice of someone's greeting had shocked Narita.
He turned to the source of the voice while answering the greeting. Knowing Davis was greeting her, Narita smiled faintly at her. Actually he was so sick of seeing Davis's face, but all that he could stand. The person he did not want to see today, instead suddenly came into his room.
“Do you want to meet with Mr Adam?” ask me politely.
Davis then shifted the empty chair on the desk next to mine.
“No. I want to meet you!” narita's forehead is wrinkled.
“What business do you want to see me?”
“It's lunch time, can we chat over lunch?” Davis glanced at the circular watch in his left hand.
“Sorry. It doesn't seem good if we just eat alone!” Narita.
“Hai girl. This is not in Indonesia. You don't have to think about what people say, because no one will gossip about us!”
“OK. But at least we can take Jess!”
“Please, Na! We need to talk to both. I'm not taking you to a VIP restaurant where there's only the two of us in the room! I just wanted to take you to the cafe downstairs!”
“Sorry, sir me---”
“Na, please! Maybe later we will no longer be able to chat just the two!”
“Alright” finally by forced Narita to accept Davis's lunch invitation.
-- Cafe----
Davis and Narita had already gotten a seat quiet enough that their chatter would not be heard by the other tables because the distance was quite far apart. They ordered food and waited for the food to come.
Seen by the two of them, in front of the lobby there are still many news seekers who stand and deliberately wait for the person they want to interview. They will continue to be there before there is a press conference statement from Dave and the influencer.
“When is Mr Dave's press conference? The atmosphere of the office is so rowdy. Very uncomfortable” Narita starts to open voice.
“Hmm,, for me, I'm still happy to eat alone with you here! You are a Director and I am only an intern. It could be great news too if anyone wants to drop you!” Davis smiled faintly at Narita's words.
“You think too hard as if you were in Indonesia. Here they won't think like that”
“I hope so” Davis nodded.
“So, there's a need what do you force take me to lunch?” ask Narita next.
“First of all I want to explain the misunderstanding between me and my brother this morning. I didn't do that at all with Jess” Narita who initially noticed Davis, immediately turning to the side from being lazy to hear it.
“It has nothing to do with me, so you don't have to explain it!” Narita said it with eyes still staring at the office lobby.
“Although to you there is nothing, but to me it has something to do, because---” Davis hangs up her sentence and she still notices Narita's indifferent expression. Narita did not look at Davis at all when spoken to.
For a moment Davis deliberately paused his speech.
“Is how disgusted you are at me, that you don't want to look at me?” ask Davis later.
“Sorry, sorry,” answered Narita and he was forced to watch Davis again.
“You don't want to know the reason why it's important for me to explain that misunderstanding to you?” ask Davis back to Narita. Davis's eyes poked into Narita's recesses until Narita turned sideways for a moment, and took his drink to neutralize the pounding of his heart.
“Why don't you answer?” Davis urged Narita.
“Why?” finally Narita had to obey Davis, as if he was curious. Davis smiled at Narita's lazy-pitched question.
“Because I Love You” Davis' sudden love statement made Narita who was sucking his drink choke and cough, until Davis finally stood up and patted gently on Narita's back.
“Are you okay?” moments after Narita did not cough anymore, Narita replied with a nod of his head. Davis returned to his chair.
“I myself do not know since when this taste exists. Ever since I first saw you, I've been feeling an unusual feeling.” Davis.
Davis was still staring fixedly at Narita, but Narita was still stumbling and not daring to return his eyes.
“Sorry,,,” says Narita briefly.
“Sorry? Sorry for what?” ask Davis later.
“Sorry because—because—” Narita does not dare to continue his sentence.
“I know it's late. It's stupid of me why I've realized it now. Suppose I'm not engaged, if I hadn't given Jess hope, maybe--”
Suddenly a waiter came to serve their food. Their conversation stopped for a moment, while waiting for all the food to be arranged on the table.
“To be honest, at first I doubted whether I should harbor this feeling or express it” Davis said.
