Look At Me Once

Look At Me Once
Who's Dad?

A few days passed, but Lathifah had not yet opened her mouth about the news of her pregnancy to Alwi and Anisa.

Of course Lathifa did not plan to tell her husband directly, the main reason being that she was not ready to face him. And every time I wanted to tell Anisa, there were always things that stopped her.

Until one night when Latifah and Anisa are busy preparing dinner in the kitchen without the help of Mbok Ijah because it is still in his hometown.

Coincidentally tonight it was Alwi's turn to sleep in Lathifa's room, Alwi went inside her room with Lathifa. He walked and observed the room, then unconsciously his feet stepped towards the study table of his young wife when his eyes saw a book that caught his attention, he reached out his hand and grabbed a book lying on the table.

“Complete Guide for Pregnant Women by dr. Riani Limoa, SpOG.” Alwi frowned as he read the title of the book.

Alwi flipped through the book with a confused face. “Why is there a book like this on his desk?”

He saw again the objects of his young wife neatly arranged, he was shocked again when he found another book that also disturbed him, a book similar to the book he had previously seen, he said, ‘Strong as a Mother by Kate Rope’.

‘Why does Lathifa have this kind of book? Did Anisa buy these books for Lathifa?’ ask Alwi in heart.

“So big you want a child, Nis?” asked Alwi with a gloomy face. “But sorry, I'm not ready to accept that woman of your choice.”

Alwi did not take a headache with the books, he put the two books back to their original place. Then he walked away from Lathifa's study table, choosing to lay his body on his mattress.

But he accidentally saw something tucked under Lathifa's pillow. Because of his curiosity and also some thoughts and suspicions about his young wife, Alwi took the envelope under the pillow and opened it.

Deg.

How surprised Alwi to see the contents in the envelope, he found a photo USG on behalf of Lathifatunnisa complete with a piece of paper receipt of payment registration RS. and there are 3 pieces of pregnancy test equipment in it.

“Lathifa pregnant?” ask Alwi astonished.

“Astaghfirullah! She's 5 weeks pregnant!” pekiknya can't believe it.

At the same time the sound of the door opening from the outside followed by the appearance of Lathifa.

“Mbak Anisa told you to eat,” said Lathifa from the doorway.

“What is this?” asked Alwi in a high tone.

Lathifa who had not realized the object in Alwi's hand she was visibly confused to find the anger of her husband. “What?”

Alwi raised the envelope in her hand and showed it to Lathifa, leaving the woman instantly shocked and re-remembered of her pregnancy.

Alwi walked up to Lathifa who was still staring at the door, then he closed the room door quite tight and locked it from the inside.

“What does all this mean?” alwi asked with hardened jaws.

“I-it was me...” Lathifa stuttered to answer her husband's question, even her mouth stiffened she could not move.

“Explain!” alwi's snapping further made Lathifa tremble in fear.

“A-I'm pregnant-”

“Who is the child's father?” tanya Alwi quickly cut Lathifa sentence because imagined some previous events where he got some photos of his wife with an unknown man also when he saw Lathifa eating alone with another man in the restaurant.

Deg.

Lathifa's body gasped stiffly at the question spoken from her husband's mouth. Like lightning in broad daylight, the question sounded extremely sharp as if hundreds of knives had pierced his heart and left excruciating pain.

Pain that he had never felt before, even many times compared to the pain he felt when the tragedy of the night befell him.

“A-what do you mean?” lathifa asked with trembling lips, with all her might holding back her tears from breaking through her defensive fortress.

“Which men have slept with you? Your college buddy? Or the guy who ate together at the restaurant that time?” tanya Alwi accused Lathifa.

Seeing Lathifa still speechless, Alwi increasingly felt the turmoil of anger from within his chest.

“Or not-don't ... the man named Zidan who you told your sister's friend was?” accuse Alwi of being cynical.

“Who among them is the father of the child you bear?”

Plaque!

“Form mouth Lo! Don't just say that you don't know the truth!” lathifa shouted in anger, she did not care about his harsh words.

“You!” Alwi growled holding back his anger so as not to further explode.

“Anisa chose you wrong, you are very much different from Anisa!”

“Gue is not Ma'am Anisa, Lo's perfect wife like an angel who came down from heaven! I'm Lathifa, remember that! And don't even compare me to him!”

“Lathifa!” Alwi shouted and raised his hand about to throw a punch but he paled when he realized that his actions were not justified.

“Astaghfirullah!” Alwi rubbed his face in frustration, all his might controlling his anger in order not to go beyond the limit.

Without saying, Alwi twisted his body and walked towards the door leaving Lathifa who was already unable to hold back her tears.

“If you can't see my whereabouts here, why did you accept Ms Anisa's request to marry me?” lathifa asked in a raucous voice, she already felt a little calm not as emotional as before.

Hearing the question, Alwi who was already holding the doorknob stopped his steps. A question he could not answer to his young wife.

“Please me, Mr. Alwi Husein Ibrahim!” lathifa cried because she did not get an answer from her husband.

The deg!

Alwi's body froze, there was a flash of pain radiating into his chest cavity.

After being silent for a while, Alwi resumed his steps and left Lathifa who was still staring at him without even looking back.

After Alwi's death, Lathifa fell to the floor and she cried. The cry that sounded so heartbreaking that even Alwi who was still standing in front of the closed room door could also feel the pain in his heart.

After making her proud, Alwi approached Anisa who was waiting for her in the dining room.

“Mari eat, Mas.” Anisa welcomes her husband, but she is seen circulating her gaze looking for something behind her husband.

“Mana Lathifa, Mas?”

“Let him alone!” alwi said coldly.

Anisa who saw that could only be silent did not dare to ask more, she knew her husband's mood was bad.

Actually, he had heard Lathifa's voice rising, but Anisa could not do anything. He can only pretend to know nothing more than to make things worse.

Both of them ate in silence without Lathifa present, but both Alwi and Anisa seemed to have no taste in eating the menu presented at the dining table.

“Where are you going, Mas?” anisa asked when she saw her husband rise from his seat.

“I'm done, you just continue eating it, Nis.”

“But you just ate a few mouthfuls, Mas.”

“I'm full, sorry. Go to bed early, don't we have to go to the airport to pick up your mom and dad?”

“Do you have a fight with Lathifa, Mas?” asked Anisa with teary eyes.

“I don't want to discuss this issue, Nis.”

“Drop my talaq, Mas. Starting tomorrow I will leave this house,” said Anisa firmly but accompanied by a circle of tears that dripped onto her smooth cheeks.

“Honey!” Alwi gasped in surprise, he never once imagined would say or hear the cursed words coming out of his mouth or Anisa's mouth.

“If you divorce Lathifa, then at the same time you have to drop talaq for me, Mas!”

After saying that sentence, Anisa left her husband speechless in the dining room. Anisa ran up the stairs to her room, she could not bear the pain that had been as strong as she could bear.

Brak!

Anisa closed the door of her room hard, she leaned behind it. The crying that he had been holding immediately broke instantly.

Anisa slumped her body down to the floor, she bent her knees and hugged her tightly, she sank her face and cried bitterly in the silence of the night.
