The metal gate covered with high-voltage electric coils, slowly separated, letting the gray SUV vehicle slowly enter. The guards had an incredulous look.
In front of the vehicle, there was a large military base hidden on the side of the mountain, with a reinforced roof and glittering in the sun.
In the spacious meeting room, a graceful figure sat at the end of the table. The wooden door opened without a sound, and a guard entered. He bowed, speaking softly to the figure, "They are here."
A graceful female figure was seen after twisting her chair, "Let them enter."
He's so skinny. Dressed in casual clothes, her hair was curled up neatly, with no hair sticking out. If not for the scar on her right cheek, her face could be described as beautiful.
With his head lowered, the guard retreated.
A moment later, the solid wood door opened again. The guard gestured, "Please enter."
Three representative guests from the unwelcome U. S. from the SUV vehicle stepped into the meeting room. Stopped at the table, two men and a woman, all of whom have European features.
And everything looks strong.
"Whoa." The blonde haired lady, dark green eyed, had a very dignified figure. He looked at the figure sitting recklessly, smiling. "She's really a woman, what a rare sight."
The fellow man who had a height of nearly two meters beside him did not say a word. While the man in front who was wearing sunglasses and a soldier hat also ignored his words.
Behind the table, not far from there, the woman observed them in silence. The room was silent in a few moments until he slowly spoke, "... Colonel Sergey."
The man who stood at the front, took off his sunglasses, revealing a pair of grayish-blue eyes. When he opened his mouth, he spoke in Mandarin which sounded a bit awkward, yet still understandable.
"It's nice to meet you, Miss An Huilan. Thank you so much for seeing us despite being busy."
He then lowered his head politely, without looking down on himself.
"There's no need for stale chatter," An Huilan raised his hand, stopping the fake greetings. He asked directly, "Who are you looking for?"
Sergey reached out his hand, holding a brown envelope. He took a few steps forward, and placed it in front of An Huilan.
The envelope's mouth was sealed by a rope. After a moment of consideration, An Huilan finally grabbed and let go.
There were only two thin sheets of paper inside. There are two different biodata of people, each of which is accompanied by a short history and a high definition profile photo.
The first person's biodata, showing a man with an Asian face with black hair and gold-framed glasses. The look on his face showed a clever and authoritative impression. He smiled as he looked towards the camera, looking friendly and harmless.
An Huilan slightly flinched after seeing the first person's biodata. He regained his senses, and immediately controlled his expression.
Pretending there was nothing wrong, An Huilan saw the second person's biodata.
The man in the photo had sharp features, looking as if he was carved from snow-white marble. He had an alluring good looks, yet he was stiff, and his ink-black eyes were fixed on the camera lens.
It was clearly an expressionless photo ID. However, that blank but focused gaze caused a chill to spread throughout the body of the person watching.
An Huilan put down the envelope. "At this tipping point when the whole world is facing a catastrophe, your country's troops came all the way here to look for this guy?"
Sergey spoke, "You're wrong, Miss An. My country no longer has an army or a government. The whole order of society has collapsed, and now it's all humans trying to survive."
"So what did you get from your trip to this country?" An Huilan tapped on the envelope, "And what is so special about these two people? Do they have anything to do with you?"
An incomprehensible light flashed across Sergey's grayish-blue eyes.
"Don't pretend you don't understand, Miss An." Sergey raised the corner of his mouth, smiling coldly. "We all know that Guo Bai was the one who created this zombie virus. Of course all the representatives from many countries are hunting him."
An Huilan slightly raised his eyebrows.
An Huilan showed a polite smile, yet his eyes did not smile at all. "So if this person really has a secret, you better tell it to us now, or our cooperation will become very difficult."
Sergey fell into his eyes, "Are you threatening me, Miss An?"
A pocket gun suddenly emerged from his sleeve. Catching her in hand, Sergey pointed her at An Huilan's forehead in the blink of an eye.
"What are you doing?!" The guard standing by the door shouted. Before she could move, the blonde woman pointed another gun at her, her finger on the trigger!
The situation changed so suddenly, and emotions flared up, leaving everyone tense and agitated.
However, An Huilan did not look frightened at all, she still maintained her graceful posture. He could even laugh, lifting his chin up and directing it to where Sergey's heart was. "Colonel, please look down."
Sergey looked down. On the left chest where his heart was located was a bright red dot. Regardless of his movements, it remained fixed on his heart. Realizing this, Sergey looked out the window. In the building opposite them, in one of the windows was seen the shooting lens sparkling in the sun and barely visible.
A sniper.
"You can choose not to cooperate with us, but if you kill me," An Huilan said in a threatening tone, "You and your subordinates will not be able to walk out of here alive."
Sergey needs a few seconds to think about it. Then he surprisingly gave up. Nodding solemnly and politely, he said, "Sorry Miss An. My hand slipped, so please forgive me. What do you want to know?"
The blond woman snorted softly and put away her weapon. The red dot on Sergey's chest also disappeared.
Although the crisis could be avoided, the guards still looked extremely upset. However, An Huilan did not mind this falsehood, slipping out of hand? Huh!
He twisted his neck, stiffened from sitting for too long, then pointed at the envelope. "How is the person you're looking for related to you?"
"The Guo Bai research base is in our country, U country. So it's only natural for us to meet-"
"Not him." An Huilan interrupted. "I asked the second person in the document. Shen Yuan's. Why are you looking for this guy?"
"That person also had involvement in the creation of this virus."
"Oh?" An Huilan raised an eyebrow in interest.
"Guo Bai had once done research with Shen Yuan's wife as his subject. And it could be said that the experiment was half successful."
An Huilan's eyes widened in disbelief.
Sergey pulled out one of the swivel chairs, and sat across from An Huilan. His index finger stretched out, and he tapped on the envelope lightly. "I'm not sure where he is, and when I contacted your troops earlier, I didn't get an answer. So I assume that your country's government has collapsed as well."
Sergey let out a tired sigh, "throughout the journey, we contacted several known survivor bases. But unfortunately, the condition of this base is very bad and quickly flooded by zombies. Some, in order to gain strength and control, they fought amongst their own comrades and ended up dead silly. This is what triggered the collapse of the base."
Sergey seemed to be pondering, "i plan to continue north, but it seems like only your headquarters is the safest and most orderly I've ever seen in this chaotic world."
An Huilan replied politely, "Although things are not as you can see, I thank you for that."
"No need to thank me, I believe in what I see. However," Sergey switched the topic. "If you really find Guo Bai as well as Shen Yuan, please remember one thing. They are both the key to saving humanity. Only Guo Bai knows the formula of this virus, while Shen Yuan. I have a hunch that this man has something up his sleeve."
An Huilan was silent for a while, then he spoke, his voice indifferent, "Colonel Sergey, you made me hesitate to cooperate with you. Maintaining the balance of these survivor bases was already a complicated operation. And this individual who is not clear about his existence..."
Sergey smiled bitterly, gesturing for the blonde woman to carry the silver-colored suitcase forward.
The metal suitcase was locked by a password. When opened, cold and foggy air spilled from within. An Huilan glanced at the contents, only to see three syringes the size of an index finger lying inside, which were filled by a pink-colored liquid.
"This," with an unusual look, Sergey spoke, "is an antiviral vaccine."
An Huilan reached out involuntarily, but was immediately blocked by Sergey. He then laughed strangely, "But now it's still not perfect."
