Living Dead's
Chapter 52 - The Nagger

"Neighbor one Yao Yue, raise your claws away from there!"

A shock flowed throughout Yao Yue's body, followed by an inexplicable fear.

Yao Yue slowly turned around stiffly, which was instantly treated by the black look on his captain's face.

Xi Zihe immediately introgated, slightly narrowing his eyes suspiciously. "What are you gonna do?"

Yao Yue became stammered, "Uh.begini..."

Yao Yue bit her tongue, she couldn't possibly say that she wanted to steal food right?

Yet Xi Zihe had already showered him with facts. "You want to steal our supplies, right?"

In front of him, Yao Yue stood tall, yet lowered his head, just like a tax evasion defendant. However before he could even speak, Xi Zihe again shouted at him loudly. "Are you not ashamed? The civilians you should have been protecting didn't even complain about the rations! How can you, a soldier who should have survived better than they would have stolen supplies?!"

"Do you feel proud because you are looking for these supplies so you want to have more rations?!"

"How many supplies do you think you've given them?! Do you think this is worth it?!"

Xi Zihe almost yelled into Yao Yue's ears. The people around them were terrified, and no one dared to speak.

Shen Yuan felt unable to see Yao Yue being scolded by Xi Zihe due to this trivial matter. The fatherly instinct inside him was once again ignited out.

"What are you really fussing about? Just how much could Yao Yue eat? Now you give me a gun, I'll loot the nearest store and replace the food he'll steal."

"I can't let you!" Xi Zihe rampaged mercilessly. "You are a civilian. Besides, this country doesn't pay you either!"

"What can you do with your small wages? Do you think your money is still useful?"

Under the gazes of the other civilians' eyes, Shen Yuan opposed Xi Zihe blatantly. No one had ever thought that someone who had always been so quiet would be able to utter such harsh words. Moreover, the cause was due to Yao Yue wanting to increase the food rations. Eventually everyone realized, if it came to other people who were short of food, Shen Yuan would turn out to be like a cat whose tail was stepped on.

"What's your salary? How much supplies can you get from that paycheck, huh?"

Xi Zihe, "....."

Yao Yue, "....."

He could not reply to Shen Yuan's words at all.

The other civilians looked at Xi Zihe with veiled opinions. Most argued that Xi Zihe was unreasonable and how he could act the way he is today. So Xi Zihe had no other choice but to end it.

"Do you admit your mistake?!"

Yao Yue replied listlessly, "Yes."

Xi Zihe could only stop his scolding. He paused for a bit before adding, "Go there, and you're not allowed to add food rations!"

Saddened, Yao Yue walked back towards the vehicle and crouched down next to Feifei and He Zhao. Deeply embarrassed, he subconsciously rubbed his fingers into the uniform.

"Captain, it looks like my bones are shifting..."

Ever since, Wen Fan had been anxious to stop Xi Zihe from nagging the innocent Yao Yue. So he can only say this.

Seeing that he had turned away, the women who prepared the food, all exchanged glances. Then, one of the aunts nodded, hiding something in her arms and moving to Yao Yue's place. He quietly pushed something into his hand.

It was two boiled eggs.

Before Yao Yue could say a word, Xi Zihe turned his head, as if he had eyes behind his head. He asked suspiciously, "What are you doing?"

The aunt replied quickly, "Nothing!"

"Uhuk uhuk!" Wen Fan immediately coughed loudly to attract Xi Zihe's attention again. He really had to demean her this time. It was clearly just a broken leg, but he acted as if he was going to die. He would remember this for Yao Yue to pay him back.

Xi Zihe could only return to his duties as captain. "Quick, fast. Bring hot water to drink." If only he hadn't been so anxious, Xi Zihe would have been able to think clearly that the leg fracture wasn't that serious that he had to drink hot water.

The aunt spoke softly, "Oh my poor son..."

No mother hates a child who loves to eat. He gestured for Yao Yue to rush over to eat, and then he slipped away.

Yao Yue was extremely hungry. Coupled with the cold weather, her stomach felt like it was about to break. He peeled off the eggshell and started eating quickly so as not to be caught by the black-hearted Captain.

Squatting next to him, Feifei helped peel the other eggs for him.

"Yue-jiejie, eat slowly. Take it easy, if Uncle Xi looks here, I'll tell you."

Yao Yue felt touched, "Thank you Xiao Fei. You are the best."

"Ens. If it's less, jiejie just tell me. I still have some chocolate wrappers in my bag."

For a moment Yao Yue felt tempted, yet still she would never snatch food from a child. His conscience is unable to bear it.

"That's what you ate with Xiao Zhao yourself."

"All right." Feifei.

Meanwhile, after seeing the debate that had ended, Shen Yuan calmly leaned against the car door while observing his daughter chatting with Yao Yue and He Zhao.

"Are you still angry?" Yang Ruisi came up with two bottles of mineral water in her hands that were each handed over to Shen Yuan and Yao Yue.

Lazily, Shen Yuan did not respond.

"Captain said all that because he felt guilty." Yang Ruisi lowered her voice as she spoke. "You're not one of the special forces. You are a civilian who should receive protection from us. However, being forced by circumstances, he must treat you like a soldier who dares to die. If you achieve something, you will not be able to receive any awards or promotions. So he actually feels so guilty about you."

Yang Ruisi paused for a bit before correcting, "It's not just you, there's also Song Yi, Wei Qian and that Han Yu. He felt, shouldn't drag you guys to do battle..."

Xi Zihe was deeply guilty, dragging in civilians meant that he admitted that he did not have enough strength to protect them. Finally, he could only be more resolute to his squad members. Emphasizing time and time again that they should put the interests of civilians before their interests.

"....Shut up." Shen Yuan held his forehead with her palm, feeling his ears could no longer hear someone's babbling.

Shen Yuan stood up, took out a packet of chocolate from her pocket, and threw it to Yang Ruisi. "For you."

Seeing Feifei's state of still-so-talking, he ended up getting into the vehicle alone. He sat down on one of the chairs and closed his eyes. Sleeps.
