Chapter 62 - The Crisis Point

Bang out!

Bullets were fired through the heads of zombies wrapped in bandages and spewing clouds of dust.

Bang out!

The zombie staggered, but still walked closer.

Ten meters, five meters, two meters.

The zombies kept coming towards them.

"Is that an oni?!" Yang Ruisi who was looking through the small monitor started to feel anxious.

Xi Zihe frowned because of his question. "I told you, call it a special-capable zombie!"

Yao Yue chimed in as he continued to shower the zombies with bullets. "It's too long!"

Shen Yuan could no longer bear their childish debate. "Is it time to talk about it?! What should we do now?!"

Bang out! Bang out! Bang out!

Three more shots, and Shen Yuan threw away his now-empty rifle.

If the head belonged to an ordinary zombie, it would have already been torn apart. But the zombie head just jerked sideways. Shen Yuan was completely unaware that the zombie was after him. He grabbed Shen Yuan and threw it!

With a sound like a falling object, Shen Yuan's body flew over ten meters and crashed into the wall of the building. Faintly, he could hear his other comrades shouting in shock calling out to him.

Shen Yuan cursed silently. With red eyes, his gaze was indistinct, and in a semi-conscious state he saw the zombie walking step by step towards him.

This zombie head was wrapped entirely in a thick bandage that was already filled with blackish dried blood stains. His facial features were fully covered, revealing only a pair of gray eyes and teeth covered in blood with gaping mouths. Even though he wasn't very nimble, he didn't have stiff joints with dry, chapped flesh like ordinary zombies out there. Instead, he possessed unimaginable extreme strength, and even the bullet shot in his head could neither kill him nor cause him any damage.

Shen Yuan shook his head slowly, trying to refocus his gaze.

What exactly is this creature?!

The zombies got closer, and Shen Yuan struggled to get up. He could see Xi Zihe and the others still trying to shoot at the zombies from behind, yet the zombies paid them no heed and still walked towards him. Dodging the zombie claw pointed at his head, Shen Yuan dodged to the side quickly.

The speed of the zombie was even faster than he had expected. The zombie caught his foot, and dragged Shen Yuan towards him. Shen Yuan was in a panic. But fortunately, Shen Yuan's kick power was greater than his punch.  He actually managed to escape for a second before he was bitten after successfully kicking him. Immediately, he stood up and rushed forward.

Shen Yuan could not run out of the guardrail, and could only run along the helicopter field with zombies chasing behind him. There were several times when Shen Yuan could feel a zombie hand was on the back of his clothes, but he forced himself to hold on to the tipping point.

He still sensed Xi Zihe and the others were trying to attract the attention of the zombie to save him. Shen Yuan could barely avoid the zombie pursuit.

In the dim lighting by the moonlight, one was chasing and one was fleeing while the other four were desperately trying to kill the other. Shen Yuan's energy was completely depleted, and towards the end, he ran over and coughed up blood at the same time. Suddenly he stumbled over a rock that was out of nowhere, and he fell.

"Dad!!" Shen Yuan could hear the rowdy children calling out to him.

That stench was right behind Shen Yuan.

With a military knife in his hand, Shen Yuan struggled like a fish out of water. Without despair, he turned around and stabbed the knife right into the zombie throat.

The zombie looked down and roared, its teeth almost scratching Shen Yuan's head. Yet that extremely sharp military blade still could not stab his throat!

Never in his life had Shen Yuan been so close to death before. Every second of stalemate continued like a year. Shen Yuan growled, the veins on his arms bulged out, and due to the force he unleashed, his fingernails started bleeding. He was still trying to stick the knife.

The zombie mouth was getting closer and closer, almost piercing straight into Shen Yuan's eyes!

Right at this moment, a voice sounded from above him, "Dad!"

Yao Yue jumped up onto the zombie. He locked the neck of the zombie using both his legs. He had an assault rifle aimed at the zombie head. Yao Yue opened fire on the zombie's head blindly. "Go quickly, father!"

Shen Yuan fell to the ground. Utilizing the movements of the locked zombies, Shen Yuan glided on the sandy ground several meters away from the zombies.

Zombies started thrashing and got up, wanting to chase after him. At the same time, Xi Zihe in the distance would press the trigger

"Yao! Let go of the zombies!"

Yao Yue instantly moved away from the zombies. The 9cm shield-penetrating bullet shot out, hitting the zombies accurately and throwing the zombies far back.

Timing's perfect. Xi Zihe made a good shot.

Yao Yue approached him with a hint of strength, "Dad, are you okay?"

"It's okay."

Due to hitting the wall violently, Shen Yuan had a cough of blood. His white shirt was soaked with blood around the chest area. Fortunately, he did not have a broken bone.

Shen Yuan stumbled slightly, and Yao Yue hurriedly supported him, they walked towards Xi Zihe.

Just as Shen Yuan was about to grab his knife that was thrown to the ground, a figure pounced on him from behind.

Bam!

Shen Yuan and Yao Yue fell face down on the ground.

"Damn! Shoot, fire!"

Xi Zihe immediately kicked the zombie off Shen Yuan's back. With the force of his kick, the zombie staggered back a few steps. Song Yi and Li Yan continued to shower him with hot bullets.

Because of the bullets, the parts of the zombie burst apart. The zombie looked extremely furious, and with a slight movement, he grabbed Li Yan's rifle muzzle and pulled it at high speed and threw it away!

Li Yan who was still holding on to his rifle was also carried away by the zombie power. Li Yan's body flew up and crashed into the foot of the helicopter.

"Li Yan!!"

Li Yan immediately spat out a mouthful of red blood from his mouth.

"Fuck him!"

Song Yi cursed out loudly. Amidst the chaos, Song Yi took out a hand grenade, shoving it into the zombie chest.

Four seconds of silence, then there was an earth-shattering explosion.

Song Yi, with an arm protecting her head was thrown several meters away from the blast site. The zombie was thrown into the middle of the field and rolled on the ground.

"This fucking zombie!!"

In a fit of annoyance, Xi Zihe fired a shield-penetrating bullet at the zombies, and the zombie body bounced out under the light of the flames. Without waiting for the zombie to land on the ground, Xi Zihe returned to charge his rifle. He punched the trigger again and smashed the zombie chest!

But at that moment -

Brak!

The thin wire fence that restricted them with thousands of zombies collapsed due to the impact of countless zombies.

A new wave of zombies lunged towards them!
