Chapter 57 - Desperate

"One spare battery, four infrared monitors, and ammunition. Are you guys just gonna bring this?" Wei Qian asked in disbelief.

Xi Zihe, "Yes. And the five of us will come in."

Wei Qian felt extremely anxious and troubled, "Rightly only the five of you? How about asking other civilians for help?"

Xi Zihe said with certainty. "That's not necessary. The more people that enter, the more dangerous it is. Let alone protecting others, I'm not even sure I can protect myself."

Wei Qian felt that it was reasonable, she stopped arguing and sighed heavily. "Then you guys be careful."

Shen Yuan was standing up and tightening the gloves without her fingers. He looked to the right and left, looking for Feifei.

"What are you looking for?" Ask Xi Zihe.

Shen Yuan said, "I'll go and say goodbye to my daughter."

Xi Zihe furrowed his brows, "Don't. He still didn't know that in the barracks it was very dangerous. If you go to him now, he'll be suspicious, then he won't let you go."

Shen Yuan stood still, his figure very firm like a Pine tree in winter. He looked down a little, not knowing what he was thinking. After a long time he replied, "I understand."

He turned to the third team, "Please take care of my daughter, Feifei."

The third team, Lu Lin and Wei Qian nodded in unison.

Shen Yuan then asked again to be sure. "By the way, where's my daughter."

Lu Lin replied with certainty, "He's already gotten into the bus."

Xi Zihe started walking into the blue and white SUV car, he shouted, "Everyone will return safely. Let's go!"

One armored vehicle carrying seven people set off quickly along the road, heading for the military barracks 50 km away.

The armored vehicle stopped at the top of the hill. Xi Zihe was looking for a strategic place to form a barricade with his car. 300 meters down the hill was a military barracks.

The inside of the barracks was very quiet. Xi Zihe stood on the roof of the car, looking down with a pair of binoculars. In the distance, the view passes through a 10-meter-high wall towards an open courtyard with two helicopters parked there. Everything was covered in pitch-black.

Xi Zihe jumped down, immediately giving the order. "We divide into two teams to facilitate movement. I'm the captain of team one, and Yao Yue, you'll be the captain of team two." After which, Xi Zihe handed the earphones and microphone to Yao Yue. They only have three. Naturally the rest would be used by the captain of the command team, Yang Ruisi.

Before leaving, Xi Zihe again calmed the restless He Zhao. "Xiao Zhao, just calm down. There are no zombies around. Besides, there's still Yang Ruisi who will protect you."

He Zhao nodded lightly.

"Let's go!"

The five members, led by Xi Zihe and Yao Yue, slid down the hill. They looked around and fired ropes at the wall with a grappling gun.

Xi Zihe and Yao Yue climbed up the 10-meter wall in just a few moves. The others followed along with agility as well. Although Shen Yuan and Song Yi were only ordinary civilians, their physique and agility were not inferior to the members of the military. After everyone got to the top of the wall, Xi Zihe gestured for them to jump down.

Yang Ruisi who saw them disappear from sight, immediately went to the back seat of the armored vehicle and took out a rechargeable battery to prepare to install it on the ground. While He Zhao who was following behind him quickly took out four small monitors.

The Ruisi installed a support pole and connected four small monitors with a battery source.  On the other hand, Xi Zihe and Yao Yue parted ways to head to the various corners of the barracks and installed an infrared camera at a predetermined location on the upper wall.

"Camera number 1 and number 3 are already installed." Xi Zihe's voice was transmitted directly to Yang Ruisi's earphones.

Yang Ruisi held a deep breath, trying as quietly as possible. "Normal system."

Shortly after, Yao Yue's voice followed. "Camera number 2 and 4 are ready!"

The monitoring system is on with a red light. The four monitors lit up consecutively, the environment around the barracks appeared on the monitor screen. The Ruisi pressed a button, and a layer of light filtered onto the screen. On the monitor looks something human-shaped, and moving slowly... They're zombies.

Yang Ruisi took out a map, and spread it in front of her. "You can go from the northwest corner. There were only six zombies there. Be careful not to warn them.  Behind them is the administration building. It's full of zombies, over a hundred. Follow the emergency stairs and climb carefully. Once you get to the second floor, you'll be safe."

Xi Zihe gestured with his hand, and with Yao Yue descended to the corner of the wall. Although the others could not hear Yang Ruisi's voice, they were still able to follow along well. Xi Zihe felt a little proud of this.

Yang Ruisi said softly, "Stay alert. The battery can only last for five hours. During that time, I'll try to get you out alive."

Xi Zihe clasped his rifle tightly, his other hand holding the doorknob and entering.

Yao Yue brought the others with him and waited outside. Xi Zihe tilted his head, and looked inside the building. The others looked a little confused, yet Yao Yue gestured for them to be silent.

Xi Zihe took out a small flashlight and highlighted it to the second floor. Flashlight flashing and illuminating the narrow corridor.

"Are you nervous, Captain?" Yang Ruisi asked calmly.

Xi Zihe prepared his weapon and slowly walked up, and replied, "If you carry the burden of dozens of lives, you will definitely be nervous."

Yao Yue interrupted from outside in his channel, "You're Captain, you have to hold on. Because we have to look after our next generation."

Li Yan next to him who heard Yao Yue's words couldn't help but ask inwardly, What's wrong with this child? What are they talking about in their earphones all the time?

On the other hand, Yang Ruisi looked at He Zhao. He Zhao stood quietly, his gaze never leaving the barracks at the base of the hill.

Yang Ruisi felt very sorry, at such a young age, these succeeding generations were already faced with a dangerous situation.

Yang Ruisi said, "Xiao Zhao, please get another map under the driver's seat."

"All right." He Zhao immediately got inside the armored vehicle.

He Zhao crept under the vehicle seat, then he saw the blueprints under the driver's seat. When he pulled the blueprint, He Zhao gasped.

Lying curled up under the blueprint was Feifei. He hugged his bear-shaped bag.

He Zhao widened his eyes in disbelief. He immediately shouted out loudly.

"FEIS?!"

On the other hand, a third team was in charge of finding the helicopter landing site.

Lu Lin was talking to the mound of blankets on top of one of the chairs. His voice softly coaxed, "Xiao Fei, you don't need to be sad. Your father will return safely. Look at the past, your father always comes back to you. Don't we? Now get out, okay?"

Lu Lin asked at length, but the 'little girl' inside the blanket did not answer a single word of hers.

Wei Qian who was driving the bus said, "Lin-ge, just take off the blanket and tickle her!"

"Ohhh, great idea."

Lu Lin immediately opened the sheet of the blanket. However, inside was only a large yellow gourd.

Lu Lin was very shocked, "Xiao Fei?!"

"What's up?!" Wen Fan shouted.

Lu Lin looked towards Wen Fan with a horror expression. "How is this?! Dad's gonna kill us!!!"
