Chapter 16 - Shelter Center (2)

Armored vehicles with terrible conditions stopped right in front of the underground shopping mall building. There were some zombies that managed to escape into the gate, but were quickly cleared out by the rest of the squad.

All the members of the squads present in the armored vehicle were exhausted and instantly collapsed, lying flat on the damp ground.

Shen Yuan gasped for breath, after going through an adrenaline-pumping battle, his heartbeat began to slow down, slowly he lowered his AK47 rifle.

"Unbelievably, I'm not dead," Shen Yuan saw Xi Zihe slowly releasing a hand from the wheel. "With your marksmanship, I thought I'd die of stray bullets."

Shen Yuan ignored his sarcasm, turned around and looked at Feifei's state.

Carefully, Shen Yuan touched his forehead, it was still hot. She stroked her hair and cheeks, what should I do, she thought.

Xi Zihe who saw her moody and depressed became a little uneasy. So he said, "Let's go inside."

Shen Yuan nodded and carried Feifei carefully. Upon exiting the armored vehicle, Xi Zihe was immediately greeted by the members of his squad who were in the shelter.

"Kapteeen! I thought you were a zombie snack out there!" A girl with a short haircut enthusiastically ran towards Xi Zihe and directly hugged him.

Shen Yuan immediately realized from her voice that it was this girl who was talking to them through the wireless radio earlier.

"My daughter, Yue'er!!"

Xi Zihe easily picked up the girl who was only his shoulder, hugged her and spun around with her. If this was a movie scene, Shen Yuan would definitely clap loudly while waving a tissue, finally the happy family members reunited. But unfortunately, this is not a movie.

"Captain, you smell bad!" The girl called Yue'er ruthlessly pushed Xi Zihe away, and closed her nose in front of him.

Suddenly someone patted her shoulder from the side, it was Wen Fan. He laughed lightly before saying, "Don't be surprised master Shen. Yao Yue is our youngest member. So the captain always thought of her as his daughter."

When the zombie outbreak erupted, there were many people who fled to this shelter center. But unfortunately among the refugees many who have been infected mingle into one. After entering the dungeon, they mutated into zombies and quickly infected many other civilians.

Fortunately, some team members managed to suppress the mess, killing the infected on the spot. In order to prevent the same from happening again, they contacted the military center, enlisting the help of the medical team here. After undergoing the examination procedure, there were only less than a thousand people left, and it was certain that no more infected were hiding among them.

Yao Yue then led some of the other squad members to bring the dead zombies out and burn them. They also work hand in hand to clean the zombies that are in the shopping center to make it safer to live in.

With no more ammunition left, they could only anxiously wait for Xi Zihe, their beloved captain to save them. But who would have thought that they were the ones who saved their captain...

But it turns out that their captain is not too disappointing, at least they have certainty that there will be a helicopter that will evacuate them in two days.

Xi Zihe stood on top of the wooden crate, cleared his throat to relax, preparing to give an introduction.
