Living Dead's
Chapter 54 - Goat Party

"GOAT-!"

Everyone who had been listening to Yao Yue's story became confused.

He yelled at the vice-captain 'Goat'? Is that some kind of battle code?

Seeing they did not react, Yao Yue's shouting voice grew even higher, "There's a goat there!"

Following his index finger, they saw a goat grazing on the riverbank. He was camouflaged between the height of the grass so they only realized that it had been there since.

They all fell silent for a moment.

Suddenly a voice broke their silence, "Catch!"

Without thinking, Song Yi dashed towards the goat quickly. Some people with quick reflexes also followed behind him.

Shen Yuan lazily moved, he just stared at the crowd of people chasing and besieging the goat which was already clear how his fate would be.

The goat was shocked and tried to escape from the siege of people. They formed a circle, with a flustered goat in the middle.

Han Yu unexpectedly pounced straight at the goat's back, some people directly helped him limit the poor goat's movements.

"Mbeee-" the goat bleated, pleading for mercy to the man who strangled her. Unfortunately, they do not understand animal language.

"Ahahaha we can eat a bolted goat!" The sound of Yao Yue's spirit resounded on the edge of the long river.

They were all excited, imagining eating mutton that they had been unable to touch for a long time.

Using a rope, they tied the goat shoulder to shoulder. The poor goat was helpless against the power of several adult men at once, so it did not take long for them to subdue him.

Many of them dragged the goat to their camp.

With full confidence Yao Yue shouted, "Dad! Please kill him!"

"...." - ".Shen Yuan was speechless, before hissing, "Why should I?"

Yao Yue tied the goat to one of the trees by the river. Feifei and He Zhao immediately took a close look, looking very interested. They had never seen a goat up close before.

He Zhao took the initiative to bring a handful of grass to the goat, which was instantly eaten voraciously. Feeling inspired, Feifei also followed He Zhao's actions.

Shen Yuan observed her daughter who was having fun with the stinking goat, before Yao Yue approached her.

"Please father, no one knows how to skin a goat."

Hearing that, Shen Yuan turned his gaze towards the crowd of people. They turned to look at him expectantly, it seemed that no one knew about it.

Shen Yuan was finally only able to exhale helplessly. He finally accepted his fate to slaughter that stinking goat.

Shen Yuan stepped slowly closer to the goat, he took out his military knife along the way.

Seeing that they could no longer play with the goats, Feifei looked rather disappointed. He asked, "Dad, does the goat have to be killed now?"

However it was not Shen Yuan who answered him but Yao Yue. "of course. Because we need to get out of here, Xiao Fei."

Feifei finally retreated, not daring to look at that scene of execution.

Crashes

That was very fast. Shen Yuan slashed the goat's neck before the goat could wriggle. Song Yi and Han Yu were made to gawk at the extremely fast movement. They felt their presence seemed useless...

Without waiting for long, Shen Yuan immediately skinned the goat, separating between its flesh and innards. After completing his task, he left the rest to the women. Whatever it is to them will make it what it becomes.

"Thank you for the hard work, Mr. Shen." The aunt who used to cook said softly.

Shen Yuan nodded, "No problem."

Afterwards, Shen Yuan went to the river to wash his hands, trying to remove the smell of the goat in his hands.

In the afternoon, where the sky began to turn a reddish color, there was a sudden commotion. Not because of the zombies, but because Xi Zihe who had returned from his journey in search of supplies.

Their small team managed to get a large tour bus, with plenty of supplies inside. They were greeted with enthusiasm by everyone.

However, the moment Xi Zihe got off the bus driver's seat, the fragrant smell of flesh instantly pierced his sense of smell. Inevitably, Xi Zihe felt his stomach start protesting against wanting fatty meat.

He spread his gaze, like a starving wolf. What was captured by his eyes was extremely hard to believe. He saw one large cauldron containing goat bone soup, and a spicy dish that seemed to consist of goat meat and offal. Not only that, Xi Zihe could see some meat being smoked.

He asked Yao Yue who was currently crouching, and looked at the soup cauldron without blinking. "Where did you get that meat?"

Yao Yue replied without turning his eyes, "We caught a goat. Mm-h!"

Xi Zihe felt that their luck was good. He also started looking forward to dinner like Yao Yue, he was eager to eat meat!

But at this moment, he still could not forget his duty. Dragging his weary body, Xi Zihe began to summon a few people to form a patrol team again. After that, he called Yang Ruisi to update their supply list to facilitate distribution.

After finishing what to do, Xi Zihe opened a bottle of water. He was very thirsty, yet he did not even have time to drink before. After finishing half the bottle, he was satisfied.

He wiped the water with his sleeves and sat in front of the campfire next to Wen Fan.

"Yo, Wen Fan's partner! Did something happen when I wasn't around?"

Wen Fan noticed the look on his tired face, he felt concerned about the captain. "Nothing, just catching a goat." After pondering for a moment, he finally said, "I'm sorry, at a time like this, I was injured and couldn't help you. This vice-captaincy now sounds ludicrous."

Wen Fan felt very guilty. Due to his carelessness, he became useless and could not help his captain in the time when he needed help the most.

Xi Zihe was made speechless by her, "What do you think of all day? Now you're supposed to focus on healing, that's all."

They both fell silent, and said nothing more.

Day turns to night, light turns to dark. The light from the campfire became their only illumination amidst the darkness as well as a source of warmth.

They all gathered near the campfire while handing out goat soup among them. This was the most decent dinner they had ever eaten. People couldn't help but add rice to their bowls.

Among them, Yao Yue who ate the most. Followed by Xi Zihe the meat lover. Although the taste of the soup was somewhat unsatisfactory due to the lack of spices, they still ate it voraciously. This makes the aunt who is in charge of cooking to be happy because the food she made was left unceremonious.

After eating dinner, Xi Zihe reminded all of them to go to bed soon, because early in the morning they would finally go south, to the military barracks of H city.
