Chapter 6 - Finding Ning Meng

Shen Yuan started to climb to the second floor. Climbing one after another ceramic stairs while keeping watch so as not to be suddenly pounced by zombies.

When he reached the second floor, Shen Yuan immediately saw the sign of the music room above the door. He quickly started running there. But before his hand reached the door handle, he heard a growl behind him.

Shen Yuan instantly turned around and inserted the axe blade into the zombie mouth to hold its bite. Shen Yuan and the zombies pushed each other.

As the strength of the zombie turned out to be not small, Shen Yuan's back directly hit the door behind him violently.

"Damn!"

Feifei who was hiding inside could also hear the commotion and the voice of his father outside the door.

"Ay-" As he wanted to call out to her, Feifei immediately recalled his father's message of not making a sound. He stopped his mouth from screaming.

Shen Yuan understood that her daughter must have realized that she had already arrived here. Shen Yuan hurriedly pushed the zombie away from him. And before the zombie approached him again, Shen Yuan had already rushed over to swing his axe to his head.

The axe stuck in his head, spitting out blood and brain fluid. His splashes once again hit Shen Yuan's clothes, hands, and face.

Shen Yuan looked at the fallen zombie, after confirming that he was really dead, Shen Yuan started to step towards the music room.

"Feifei, it's dad!"

Shen Yuan tried to push the door, but realized that it was locked from the inside. After which, he heard Feifei's voice from within.

"Dad, I'm here! Dad, wait a minute, the door's locked! I, I'll open it now!"

However Shen Yuan was not waiting for him. He instantly smashed the door lock with his axe. Then it began to push the door open, pushing every table and chair that Feifei used to hold the door.

Soon after Shen Yuan found the figure of Feifei standing waiting for him, Shen Yuan immediately ran over and carried him into his arms.

Thankfully, Feifei is fine.

Shen Yuan hugged him tightly, stroking his hair and back.

"Dad... I'm so scared of you..."

Feifei gripped Shen Yuan's shirt tightly, buried his face in his arms, and cried loudly.

"Sorry dad is late... It's okay now."

Shen Yuan comforted him by occasionally rubbing his head and back. Only then did he realize that his hands were still full of blood which caused Feifei's hair to become sticky with blood.

Shen Yuan hurriedly let go of their embrace.

"Let's go home first. After that we'll go to your grandparents' house to make sure they're safe."

Shen Yuan is an orphan. Ever since he could remember, he had already been in an orphanage. Due to his reclusive nature and not easy to get along with, he was not adopted by anyone. Families who want to adopt a child, generally choose children who are cheerful and sweet-mouthed. Luckily, Shen Yuan was a smart boy. After adulthood, he was able to make his own money and left the orphanage to live independently.

The grandfather and grandmother in question were his father and mother-in-law. His wife's parents. The parents' house was out of town. Usually he and Feifei would visit every summer and new year holidays.

"alright. Let's go home soon, Dad." Feifei really did not want to be in this place for even a second.

Shen Yuan nodded and carried Feifei with his left arm, while his right arm carried an axe drenched in blood.

As he exited the room Shen Yuan realized that the sight Feifei was looking at would be very unsightly. However he deliberately did not warn Feifei to close his eyes. Whatever this scene, from now on he would often see. I don't want him to get used to it.

As he expected, upon seeing the scene outside, Shen Yuan felt Feifei's grip on his shirt grow tighter, yet he did not shout.

As he descended from the stairs, Feifei began to recall Ning Meng's whereabouts. He grabbed his father by the neck and whispered in his ear.

"Dad, Meng Meng and I separated while in this hallway. Can we go look for him?"

Feifei asked timidly. He naturally realized how dangerous their current situation was. Moreover, he also did not know whether Ning Meng was still alive or not. Searching for it at this time must be high risk considering the number of zombies that are still wandering in the school area.

Shen Yuan frowned. Of course Shen Yuan knew the boy. He felt a little indebted to his daughter's best friend. The reason, when Shen Yuan was busy on campus and often late to pick her up, she would definitely see Ning Meng accompany her daughter until she came. No matter how long it is.

So upon hearing that Ning Meng parted ways with her daughter while being chased by zombies, her heart became uneasy. Finally, he decided to look for her.

By following Feifei's instructions on which direction Ning Meng went the last time, Shen Yuan began to search for him carefully.

Several times they encountered zombies. In the beginning, Feifei was still startled and screamed when suddenly there were zombies crashing towards them. But over time he no longer screamed, only gripping Shen Yuan's shirt tightly.

All the zombies that were heading towards them were instantly killed by Shen Yuan. Although the fight became more difficult because he also had to protect Feifei.

"Retreat behind dad!"

Shen Yuan took down Feifei when there were too many zombies faced. He could not fight freely while carrying Feifei.

Shen Yuan would have been bitten a few times had it not been for her to kick them faster or smash their teeth first. Whether it was a blessing or not, the zombies that came were at most primary school student zombies, they were basically weak and easy to deal with.

Shen Yuan fought like a madman. This was the first time Feifei had seen his father like that. Blood splashed everywhere, and Feifei could even hear the sound of broken bones.

After all the zombies died, Shen Yuan's shirt had already turned completely red. His entire body was as red as if he had just come out of a pool of blood.

Shen Yuan was panting, he was exhausted. However they still had not discovered Ning Mengs whereabouts.

Is that little girl dead?

Shen Yuan couldn't help but think that way.

Seeing how his face and body were, Shen Yuan thought of washing his face in the bathroom. Because incidentally, the fight was not far from the bathroom.

Shen Yuan held Feifei's hand and entered the bathroom. But the sight that greeted her in the bathroom made her heart stop beating.

They saw Ning Mengs lower body disappear starting from the waist as if it had been chewed up, and her eyes were still open with a gloomy and empty look...
