Chapter 113 Wait for Me

"Sister."I said with my mouth shaking. "Zee open your eyes, please open your eyes dear. Don't do this, don't scare me like this"

"Akhh, someone please call an ambulance."I screamed with sobbing. People started crowding around me and Zean's bloodied body.

"Indhi."Shouted Ega, he ran and followed the mother behind him.

"Sister, how is this, Brother Zean does not want to open his eyes, so much blood, I beg you to help him brother."

I was sobbing more and more, my chest felt crowded, I hit him repeatedly, but when I saw Brother Zean's face, the tightness was squeezing my chest even more.

"Calm down." Brother Ega started checking Zean's vital signs, then he looked at me softly.

I shook my head, I won't believe Ega's sister this time, I forced my hand to check her vital signs, repeatedly I moved my hand, but neither did I feel her pulse.

"I beg you not to be like this, wake up." My crying is breaking.

Before long the ambulance came, my hope was still not lost, I believed Brother Zean would be fine, he would realize and we would get married soon.

The ambulance stopped in front of the ER, they immediately brought Mr. Zean's body in and gave him first aid. Sister Ega who is one of the doctors at the hospital also entered and tried her best for Ms. Zean.

I roared weeping over Zean's lifeless body. His face was deathly pale, his body cold, I clasped his hands, still hoping to feel the warmth of that hand, but at home, the body that had been stretched stiff was unlikely to give me any more warmth.

"This is impossible, you must be lying to me, right." I said to Ega's sister and the doctor who was there.

I approached Brother Ega and pulled his collar. "Sister is lying, replied the brother, answer."I screamed hysterically so as to invite the attention of the people who were outside the room.

"Do it again, brother, wake him up, brother, please do it again, help him, save him brother."

When I was about to do it again, both of my hands were blocked by Brother Ega. "Stop it, you hurt Zean if you keep doing this, let him go."

I stared at the pale face and my tears came back. "Did I hurt you? But you also hurt me if you leave me like this, wake up please. You said you'd marry me, didn't you, open your eyes and marry me." I took off my arms and hugged Brother Zean's body, the smell of vanilla still attached to his body just that I didn't feel the warmth of his embrace.

I sobbed back, my tears flooding Zean's neck, I was reluctant to let go of my embrace. "Wait for me."My whisper was softened in his ears.

Brother Ega helped me down from above Brother Zean's body, mother immediately hugged me tightly, without words, she just stroked my head affectionately.

I watched Brother Ega release the tools attached to the body of Brother Zean, my body was so limp when Brother Zean's face had been covered by white cloth again, how my next life, so weak, how can I live without you by my side.

Mother and sister Ega threw me out of the room because Brother Zean's body would soon be moved to the morgue.

Me, mother, sister Ega and my two best friends waited for the arrival of mamy in front of the morgue, shortly afterwards mamy came along with mbok Yem in a hurry.
