58. Night Tourism

At the appointed time, Nathan and Nicko went to meet the invitation of the night tour from the committee of the paint race organizer followed by Nicko. They were asked to come at seven o'clock at night on the Pemuda street right across the Lawang Sewu building.

When Nathan and Nicko arrived at the gathering point, they were greeted by one of the clerks who had known Nicko before.

"Finally came too. Good night Mas Nicko," said his clerk Adam kindly.

"Good night to Adam. Am I late ?" ask Nicko about stale.

"Oh no kok. We are still waiting for Ratri, the second champion of painting yesterday. By the way Nicko ngajak who for the tour tonight this time ?" adam asked, looking to the right and to the left.

Nathan, who knew he was being the subject of conversation, also seemed to smile. When Nicko introduced him to Adam, Nathan graciously greeted him. Seeing the manners of Nathan and Nicko made Adam smile in awe.

"Are you from Jakarta ?" ask Adam.

"Yes, why is it ?" ask Nicko while frowning.

The two brothers' answers relieved Ratri. The girl nodded and it made the three men before her smile broadly.

Then Nathan, Nicko and Ratri shake hands as greetings. Adam seems happy to know Ratri is not alone because it can reduce his burden tonight.

After all the participants gathered, they stepped together to enter the area of Lawang Sewu building.

"I'm sorry, Nathan. But I'm so scared. Oath !" ratri said half in a whisper.

"You're afraid of coming. Come here, accept your fate" said Nathan ketus.

Nathan's words upset Ratri. He turned to Nicko who looked more serious observing the surroundings. When Ratri pulled the end of his jacket Nicko turned his head and smiled. He knew Ratri was scared. Therefore he let Ratri hold the tip of his jacket during the trip to explore the Lawang Sewu building.

When the guide explained the history of the establishment of Lawang Sewu including its designation during the colonial period, everyone in the group seemed amazed. But when the guide tells if they are currently on the underground floor which is famous for its awesomeness, all the participants look agitated especially Ratri.

Ratri's body seemed to tremble slightly with a paled face. It was certain that Ratri was very frightened. One of the night tour participants asked why the aura on the lower floor felt different from the previous two floors. The guide's answer made everyone speechless.

"When the transition from the Dutch colonial period to the Japanese colonial period, this place was used as a place of torture for prisoners of war including the indigenous people of Mas. It's no wonder that here it feels more gripping and cold than on the previous floor" said the guide.

The speech of the guide made all participants look at each other with an illegible look. Ratri tightened his body towards Nicko and it made Nathan not like it.

Nicko nodded trying to understand the brother and then turned to look at Ratri.

Ratri nodded and approached Nicko. Relief was seen on Ratri's face as he was between Nathan and Nicko. Nicko occasionally turned his head as Ratri clasped his arm.

And after almost an hour and a half around the Lawang Sewu building, the group arrived outside the building. Everyone seemed to be sighing in relief from having managed to get out of the place with such a frightening atmosphere.

"All safe, right ?!" adam asked loudly to make sure all the participants were okay.

"Amaaannn !" all participants included Nicko and Ratri.

"Alhamdulillah, great. Next we will go to another place whose atmosphere is completely different from this place. If Lawang Sewu is famous for its horror and mystical atmosphere, then we will go to a romantic, warm and relaxing place. We can heal for a moment so that we can get out of the pressure of fear that we just experienced !" adam said with a smile.

"Depart now Mas Adam ...!"

"Come on ...!"

The participants said alternately. Adam nodded then directed the participants to the mini bus that was available. Shortly thereafter the mini bus seemed to be driving away from the Lawang Sewu building to the place where Adam was referring to earlier.

Inside the mini-bus, Ratri sits right next to Nicko. He seemed calmer because he could laugh. But what Ratri said later was enough to make Nicko surprised.
