28. Sizzling Sound

After leaving his office building, Bayan drove his car at a moderate speed towards the house he had been living in. The house where he starts a new life with Anna and their two children.

When he arrived at his yard Bayan got out of the car reluctantly. Bayan remembered not going to find his family in the house as usual because currently Anna and their two children are still Bayan 'titipkan' on his in-laws until unlimited time.

Bayan turned his head when he saw Yumi open the door. Behind Yumi, Arti stands watching.

"It turns out that Mr. Ar is really," said Yumi Lirih while looking at Arti.

A brief conversation between Yumi and Arti draws Bayan's attention. Suspicious not to want Bayan to ask.

Yumi and Arti stared at each other for a moment before answering Bayan's question. Impatiently Bayan repeated his question a little out loud to the point of surprising Yumi and Arti.

"Ga there's nothing sir. Just these two nights we couldn't sleep because of the sound of hissing behind the window. Not just the living room window, sir, but almost all the windows in this house," Yumi said quickly.

"The hissing sound, lest it be the sound of a snake. Did you ask Maman to check around Yum's house ?!" tanya Bayan riled.

Maman is a neighbor who lives not far from Bayan's house and used to work odd jobs. Bayan often uses the services of Maman to help him clean up homework such as throwing unused items in the warehouse, tidying up the garden or cleaning up clogged sewers.

Yumi and Arti can only observe from a distance while waiting for Bayan to finish checking the doors and windows.

"Where is Sir ?" ask Yumi impatiently.

"The doors and windows are fine. There is no sign of an animal or thief trying to pry at a door or window. Don't-don't you say it was just a Yum hallucination," Bayan said.

Bayan's words made Yumi and Arti stare at each other for a moment then shake their heads. They were sure that the hissing sound they heard two nights in a row was not a hallucination. If it was a hallucination, where might Yumi and Arti hear it at the same time. But Yumi and Arti seem to be afraid to reveal it because they see Bayan's slightly unfriendly face.

"You guys just calm down, there's nothing out there. If so tomorrow I'll ask Maman findin people to keep the night around the house so You don't get scared when I don't go home. If Maman wants, he can also help with the activities around the house," Bayan said.

"God willing I will find the right person to be security later. I can't carelessly choose people because I have to think about the safety and comfort of my family as well as yours," Bayan said to make Yumi and Arti happy because they feel appreciated.

"Yes sir, thank you for thinking about us" Yumi said with a smile.

"Either. Now please prepare dinner Yum. I want to clean up first in the room," pinta Bayan as he stepped into the room.

"Okay sir" said Yumi and hurried to the kitchen followed by Arti.

Coinciding with the completion of Yumi and Arti preparing dinner, Bayan came out of the room. Yumi and Arti move out of the dining room because they don't want to make Bayan uncomfortable.

That night Arti and Yumi were able to sleep soundly after two consecutive nights of sleeplessness due to the strange hissing sound on the window. It was so good that they did not realize there was something lurking behind the windows of each room.

While that night Bayan actually difficult to sleep. He was seen pacing back and forth in his room. Besides being away from his family, many things he thought that made him still awake until dawn.

Bayan damaged his hair because he felt the burden of his mind was too heavy. Ever since Anna said she saw something in the vents of their home, Bayan has been feeling uneasy ever since. Plus the confession of Rama and Riko who felt seeing the appearance of a disembodied ghost on the farm, Mustafa's utadz speech about new people around his family, as well as the hissing sound that Yumi heard. Everything makes Bayan want to be angry.

Bayan took a deep breath as he felt tired. Then Bayan sat leaning against the sofa, raising his head while closing his eyes.

I don't know why the current situation makes Bayan again remembered by Dusk. Bayan remembers she did the same thing back then, which was to stay away from Dusk just as she was away from Anna now. It had to be done because he wanted to save his wife from something life-threatening and their future.

Bayan used to have to struggle with feelings of longing and pain at the same time just because he did not want to hurt Dusk and the baby in the womb. And now Bayan again has to endure longing for his wife and children for fear of their safety.

Bayan also remembered how the nights were overshadowed by prolonged anxiety because of pregnancy hormones that can make the emotions of Dusk unstable. Bayan worries if Dusk unknowingly injures himself and his baby as he transforms into a meyang. At that time Bayan was angry because he could not do anything to protect Dusk and their baby.

Until finally after some time to keep each other's distance, Dusk gave up because it could not survive in endless fear.

Besides being tired, Dusk does not want to hurt many people. And the biggest worry of Dusk is if he will prey on his own son when he transformed into a kuyang. Dusk can't imagine if that happened. The child who is the fruit of his love with Bayan must die at his hands because of the curse.

Dusk is ready to lose Bayan and his love, but Dusk is not ready to lose his son. Although Bayan tried to convince Dusk if his love would never change, but Dusk still insisted on ending it all. It was not because Dusk did not believe in Bayan, it was his great love for Bayan that forced him to give up.

"I lost my wife to my demon. And now I'm not gonna let that happen again. With or without Ustadz Mustafa, I will protect my Son and Wife despite the life of the stakes" Bayan murmured, clenching his hands.

After saying that Bayan felt calmer. He is ready to face the worst possible chance to save Anna and their two children.
