29. New Security

When he heard the voice of the adhan Subuh reverberating, Bayan ended his daydream. He got up from his seat and decided to perform congregational prayers at the musholla.

After ablution and wearing cocoa clothes and sarongs, Bayan came out of the house and locked the door. While stepping towards the gate, Bayan took the time to observe his surroundings and was surprised to see a black figure hovering right in front of his bedroom window.

Bayan stopped stepping. He took the stone and threw it towards the black figure that was still floating.

"Pletaakkk !"

The stone Bayan threw hit the target and it made Bayan cheer in his heart.

The black figure seemed to float in a daze. As if aware if his presence was known to the owner of the house, the black figure darted rapidly into space and disappeared amidst the darkness.

Bayan was still standing looking while adjusting his breath that snarled. His gaze was fixated towards the disappearance of the black figure. Bayan only realized when several neighbors passed and one of them greeted him.

"You want to go to musholla and Mas Bayan ?" ask the neighbor.

"Eh, i-iya sir," said Bayan nervously.

"It's with yuk" asked the neighbor.

Bayan nodded with a smile then rushed to close the gate. While stepping, Bayan several times turned towards his home. He hoped that the black shadow had not come again because Bayan knew very well if such a night creature would run away at dawn or at sunrise.

Confused about what to do at home without his wife and children, Bayan chose to go to the office earlier. Even though Bayan had tried to slow down the pace of his vehicle, he still arrived an hour earlier than usual.

Bayan smiled as the employees who passed by him greeted him respectfully. One of the OB's named Jonah who had just finished cleaning the room, seemed to welcome Bayan with a confused look.

"Why do you squirm Me, strange if I come earlier than others ?" ask Bayan.

"Oh, no sir. Sorry if my attitude makes you uncomfortable" said Jonah.

"Gapapa, I also have the same gaze since entering the office earlier," Bayan said with a smile.

Bayan's words made Jonah wrong. To melt the atmosphere, Bayan asked Jonah to make him coffee. Jonah agrees to Bayan's request and rushes to the pantry to brew coffee while Bayan enters his room.

After putting the bag on the desk, Bayan stepped towards the large window while staring out of the building. Bayan seemed to be smiling to enjoy the atmosphere of the morning that felt different this time. From the top of the building Bayan can see the highway winding like a big snake down there. Unfortunately, the road was packed with vehicles. Even so dense the entire city filled with motor vehicle smoke to look foggy.

Bayan turned his head and smiled as Jonah stood in the doorway he had left open earlier. After Bayan nodded his head in order to allow him to enter, Jonah dared to step into the room to put the cup containing coffee ordered by the boss.

Seeing Jonah's attitude and remembering his loyalty in working all this time made Bayan interested. Even Bayan intends to make Yunus as security in his home. When Jonah left to continue his work, Bayan held him back.

Then Bayan asked Jonah to sit down and ask him some questions. Yunus who does not suspect that the boss is 'interviewing' in person also seems to answer all questions straightforwardly and smoothly.

"So if there's an offer of light work that's a bigger salary, do you want ?" ask Bayan.

"good. Later in the afternoon You come with Me to My house huh. And from tomorrow you don't have to be an OB anymore in this office because you're going to be a security in my house. What, you want to ?" bayan asked as he looked at Jonah fixedly.

Bayan's words surprised Jonah. He fell silent with his mouth open and made Bayan smile. After Bayan asked a second time, Jonah nodded in agreement.

"I'm ready Sir. I'm glad that finally my ambition is sameness. Actually the first time applying for this company I applied to be a security. But you don't know why, when I passed the selection I was actually placed as OB," said Yunus with a sparkling face.

"Oh yeah. You should have complained at that time because it was placed in a position that should not be," Bayan said.

"I don't think so, sir. For Me at that time the important thing is I have a job so that the salary can be the cost of my Mother's treatment" said Jonah timidly.

Jonah's reply again impressed Bayan. In his heart he was grateful to be able to give Jonah a better job and a greater salary.

Bayan and Rama are seen chatting casually in a restaurant after lunch. Riko's lack of presence without news makes Bayan and Rama a little uncomfortable.

When Rama tried to contact Riko, the friend did not respond. Bayan suspected that there was a fight between Rama and Riko as usual so that Riko was sulking and did not give any news at all.

"There is no problem. Kemaren I was also the one who brought Riko home because his bike broke down. Even the last time he met he was still perfect for me. I should have been angry instead of him" said Rama.

Bayan's words made Rama anxious. He rushed to reach his phone and looked for the phone number of Riko's wife named Mona to ask the condition of the friend. Unfortunately, Mona also did not respond when contacted. Of course it makes Rama and Bayan wonder.

"We are samperin to his house just in the afternoon yuk Yan," asked Rama.

"Sorry can't Ram. I promised Jonah I'd take him home" Bayan said.

"Which one is Yunus, which is OB ?" ask Rama.

"Yes. I have a plan to make Yunus security at my house. You see, lately my house is terrorized as people are not known. Kasian Yumi and Arti were scared to leave the house. Even when I went home, Yumi asked Arti to open the door" Bayan explained.

Bayan deliberately did not tell the real reason why he needed security. Bayan also did not tell what happened in his residence clearly because he did not want Rama to panic.

Hearing Bayan's words made Rama nod his head in agreement. Like Bayan, Rama considered Jonah to be a good and responsible person. Even Bayan, Rama and Riko have discussed the physical appearance of Jonah who is more suitable for security than OB.

Because Bayan could not take him to Riko's house, Rama decided to go alone to Riko's house later in the afternoon.

After saying his intention, Rama and Bayan returned to the office because the break was almost over.
