CHAPTER 9
Heny was offended by the tension between Raden and Gemintang for destroying all his efforts to make this day a special day to welcome Raden back home.
“Why is everyone getting angry?” laura asked suddenly, making all eyes on her.
In this house only Laura looks happy, enjoying the presence of her beloved sister, but she can also catch the tension that occurs at the dinner table.
“We are all worried about the condition of daddy,” said Gemintang softly, while reaching out, stroking Laura's hand.
“But kak Raden is already here, and there is also Mang Adit.” Laura looked at Adit affectionately. “We should have fun.”
Laura made the others feel ashamed of themselves. Raden no longer looked at Adit with suspicious eyes or looked tense whenever he found Adit staring at his sister. He and the Gemintang also stopped staring at each other full of hostility and the two even chatted about the people Raden knew a few years ago. The star tells Raden who gets married, who gets divorced, who gets richer, and who gets poor.
Once he finished eating, Adit stood up, thanked Heny, then walked straight to the kitchen. “Wait a minute, mang Adit,” call Laura. “I'm coming, I want to see that foal.”
“We will go to the hospital, Laura,” Raden said briefly.
“But I want to see that foal. I promised Mang Adit I'd see him in the cage this morning.”
Adit immediately caught Raden's intent. “Laura, your daddy will be disappointed if you don't see him. The foal will not go anywhere,” joked Adit. “You can see him anytime you want.”
“Alright, mang Adit,” Laura agreed in a soft voice. “I'll see you when I get back.”
Adit nodded, once again thanking Heny and quickly passed. He did not look at Raden as he left the room.
The starter hurriedly got up. “I'll get ready, Raden. Laura, do you want to dance before you go?”
“Ya, I guess.”
They came downstairs back a few minutes later. Raden was waiting for them on the terrace. Heny stood beside her, holding a vase filled with freshly cut roses. “Heny will catch up with his car, as he wants to bring roses for Daddy. Laura, you just go with Heny's car, hold his flower vase so the water doesn't spill.”
“Let me hold it.” The starter hurriedly offered himself. Raden's sharp eyes on him hinted at disapproval.
“I want to talk to you during the trip.” said Raden anpa can be denied, he immediately drove Gemintang to his Mercedes-Benz car, while Heny drove in a Fortuner car, which actually belongs to Thunder, but entrusted to him.
“Did you see her doctor this morning?” tanya Gemintang, break the silence when they are on the way.
“Yes. He told me what he told you and Randy.”
“Is... does the doctor tell you when...“.
“Can happen anytime.”
They drove on the highway, headed downtown, before Raden offended anything else, “Who is Adit?”
“Aditya Rahardiyan," she replied briefly.
“Former racer, but then he had an accident.”
“Because that's the way of limping? Injury during racing?”
“He lost his left leg from the knee down" Gemintang said as he turned his face towards Raden. Raden continued to set his sights on the road, but the Gemintang saw Raden's hand gripping the steering wheel and his hand muscles protruding. His facial water was strained, implying heart hardness, unwaveringness, and excessive arrogance.
Gemintang knows Raden does not like Adit especially seeing Adit handicapped for life. “Highly careful, hardworking, and honest personal editor.”
“I don't like its proximity to Laura.”
“Why?”
“You still need to ask?” asked Raden, turning his head. “Not healthy and dangerous, that's why. Laura has no business hanging around single men all the time.”
“I don't see any harm. Laura is also single.”
“And still innocent about se*s. Very innocent. Even I'm not sure Laura understands the difference between men and women, and why it's different."
“He sure knows!”
“Alright, then the stronger the reason for Laura not to need to be often with Adit. Because I'm sure Adit will only take advantage of Laura.”'s innocence
“Hey don't just accuse, Adit was very good to Laura. He is a very kind and patient man. He has indeed been hurt, not only physically but also mentally, so Adit knows what it feels like to be a wasted person and feel rejected as Laura has felt so far.”
“What if he takes advantage of Laura's liking? S*skual..”.
“He wouldn't do such a thing.”
Raden grunting. “Surely so. He is a pretty boy and Laura girl, while many opportunities for them to do just that.”
“Sounds like you know a lot.”
The sharp word‐ slid out from the lips of Gemintang without being able to hold it. Raden brakes the car in the hospital parking lot suddenly, then turns to face Gemintang.The look on his face shows anger, as well as Gemintang. The star had already started first, so now there was no point in acting half-and-half.
“You clearly know very well about using an innocent girl, lying to her, making promises you will never keep.”
“You mean that old promise?”
“Yes! I'm surprised you could have had a relationship with me but impregnated another woman. You think of me just as a warm-up before enjoying more fun with other women?”
Raden let the stars talk long before opening the car door and closing it back hard. It was then that the new Stargazer realized Heny and Laura were already standing waiting at the hospital entrance and looking at them.
The starter felt his fingers cold as he clenched them, but he tried to remain calm as Raden opened the car door and helped him out. He tried to show a calm attitude as they together entered the hospital lobby and took the elevator.
