“Adit?”
There was no light in Adit's room, but the television was on, reflecting the light on the wall.
“Laura,” Adit said, surprised.
“Are you here? Or have you slept?”
Adit immediately pulled out a white blanket covering his bare chest. She lay on her back in her little bed, when Laura walked into her room.
Adit lay down while supporting his body with his elbows. “No, I'm not sleeping, but what are you doing here? If your brother finds out you're here he'll.”.
“Cannot be. I just saw him leave in his new car. He and the Starlings. Oh, Adit. I don't understand all this!” Laura dropped herself into Adit's arms. Adit's hand automatically welcomes Laura's body.
Laura cried and buried her face in Adit's chest.
“What's up? What happened, Laura?” ask Adit worriedly
“Kak Raden's. I don't understand it at all. He fought with you because you kissed me, he made me feel like we were doing something really embarrassing. But, if what you did was wrong, why did he and the Starling do the same? If we can't do that, why do they? They also did not marry.”
“You saw them? Kissing?” Adit tried to guess.
“Yes. There, near the old swing. They didn't see me when I saw them.”
Adit flicked his hair with his fingers, he answered Laura's question carefully, “I guess, you saw something that should.you shouldn't see.”
Laura raised her head. “Indeed, I shouldn't have stayed there and seen them, right? Heny says we can't eavesdrop on people's conversations.
“Yes, that's not polite," Adit confirmed.
“I know I was wrong. But I heard their voices, and I followed them. When I got there, I saw Raden kissing the Star. They lean on the tree while hugging.”
When Laura's fingers played with the hair growing bushy on her chest, only Adit realized she was wearing only ********** under the covers. Laura sat on the edge of the bed, the girl's hips touching her waist.
Laura tells how the stars ended their kiss. “Stars say they shouldn't kiss because people will consider them immoral. Brother Raden just stood motionless, he looks like he wants to continue kissing Gemintang.”
Laura's voice shook. “The star said, once the reading of the will is complete, he will leave home.” Laura said as she leaned against Adit's chest. “I don't want the stars to leave this house. I love Gemintang. I love Brother Raden. I want us to stay together like now forever.”
With one hand Adit held onto Laura's waist, to calm her down. The other hand stroked the girl's back. Adit managed to connect the pieces of the story into one whole story.
He recalled, he had overheard the Starling talking to Raden about the actions of Thunder that separated them. Maybe they loved each other. But then Raden left the house, and Gemintang married Thunder. Now they both still love each other, both caught in a difficult situation to be separated. “Yes, everything looks messy,” muttered Adit behind Laura's hair.
Laura raised her head and looked at Adit. “You know what I was expecting?”
Adit's index finger traced the girl's face, admiring her unsullied beauty. Adit never found anyone as good as Laura. Adit used to think that the minds of all humans were full of decay, including his own, but seeing Laura, he believed that good people existed. “What do you expect from both of them?” ask Adit gently.
“I hope they both love each other like us.”
Adit laughed as he gently pulled Laura's body close to him, kissing her lips gently.
“Adit?” whispered Laura.
“You're not wearing your fake legs?”
Instantly Adit stops her kiss and follows Laura's gaze to the end of the bed, to where she puts her fake foot. “Ya,” Adit replied firmly. “I don't wear it.”
“Try to see your feet. C'mon.” Laura stuck out her hand about to pull the sheets that covered Adit's body.
Adit immediately grabbed his fake foot and held it. “Do.”
Adit's voice sounded cold, loud, not as usual when he talked to Laura. A moment of Adit's attitude frightened the girl, but only for a moment. Next Laura put her hand on Adit's hand and her finger tried to pull the sheets that covered Adit's body. “Come, Adit. I want to see it.”
Angrily Adit clasped Laura's hand, thinking for a moment what better to let Laura see her feet. Yes it's better to let Laura be disgusted to see him now before he falls deeper in love with her. It was better for Laura to run away and scream fear and disgust at her now rather than later. He had long hidden his flaw, it would be better if Laura knew sooner, it would be better for both of them.
With a grievous heart, Adit lets Laura uncover the blanket from her body. His eyes stared at the ceiling, trying to focus on the pattern formed by the light emitted by the television. He did not want to see Laura's frightened face. He wished he could close his ears so as not to hear Laura's response.
Adit doesn't blame Laura if she doesn't accept her condition. Laura's world was a world of tenderness and beauty, like a soft and graceful cocoon. While his world, a world of wilderness with the law of the jungle, a world foreign to Laura.
“Oh, Adit.”
Laura's reaction turned out not to be what Adit had imagined. Laura's voice made her breath seem to stop for a moment, Laura's voice was full of tenderness. Adit lowered his head, looking at his body just as Laura's hand was about to touch her stumped thigh.
Adit feels a shy and soft touch, as Laura's hands trace her rough and hairy skin, Adit remains distrustful of what she sees. Laura's sweet demeanor, made her feel like she was going to explode.
“Adit, you are so charming,” Laura said.
Adit looked into Laura's teary eyes, he was looking around, a look of disgust in the girl's eyes but nothing, no pity, only love and affection.
Adit pulls Laura's body to her chest, her hands holding both of the girl's cheeks, echoing Laura's hair as Laura taps her lips against Adit's lips.
“Oh, Laura.” Adit clutches the girl's head on her shoulder to stop Laura's passionate kiss,
“I feel something strange in my body,” said Laura while stroking Adit's chest and stomach.
“I'm also Laura.”
“My heart beats fast.” Laura grabs Adit's hand, then presses it against her left chest.
Adit's hand touched Laura's soft payud*ra. He gritted his teeth. “So much as my heart.”
“Is this how it feels when people make love?” whispered Laura, asking.
Adit was unable to answer with words, but with a nod.
“We can't make love because we're not married, right?”
Adit clutches Laura tightly‐erat. “Yes, Honey, can't. We can't do it."
Laura who was now sitting, placed her hand on Adit's cheek. “Then, Adit,” said, he thought simply, “What if we get married?”
