In The Rain

In The Rain
CHAPTER 36

The long-awaited and feared day finally arrived, everyone in the house gathered in the living room. Actually this is the second time Randy set the time for the reading of Thunder's will, because it was twice delayed.

At the first opportunity, Raden suddenly had to return to Jakarta to take care of his airline company. The second, Randy who asked to be postponed, because there are other clients who need his help more.

Secretly excited by the delays, it took him a few weeks to find a place to live, a smaller but beautiful house, to live alone. However, until now he felt he did not have the spirit to start the search for the house, because the work in the factory was very busy.

More production than ever, he and Raden always go to the factory in the early hours and come home late at night. The harvest of rubber sap this season is almost complete, all products are ready to be brought to the warehouse to be sold to some traders. Zacky's order was flown to Bandung as Raden promised.

If it wasn't for the factory job, they wouldn't have had a reason to spend time together. Ever since that night, on the swing, there had never been a chance for them to make out, even though their passion remained tempestuous, it still radiated between them.

Randy coughs while covering his mouth with his hands "I think we're ready.” He sat beside a small table, where he placed a manila envelope.

Laura and Raden were sitting close together, their hands clasping each other lovingly. The star sits on the left seat. There was also Heny who was also invited, sitting to their right, somewhat behind.

Randy took the glasses out of his shirt pocket and put them on his big nose. He carefully opened the envelope, took out the document and straightened out the rigid document. He began to read the contents.

While Thunder did not like to donate, he was always angry whenever he saw his wife, Agatha, donate her money to charity. But in his will, Thunder strangely bequeathed some money to the church, and to various other social communities.

Randy paused for a moment, poured water into the glass from the pitcher that Heny had prepared at the table for him, gulped it down, then continued. He read in a flat voice, but with a heavy heart. After he finished reading the will, he folded the papers and put them back in the envelope. He took off his glasses and put them back in his shirt pocket.

The other three people in the room were motionless. Even Laura, who did not understand the contents of her father's will completely, understood the very unfair content of the will.

“Daddy did not leave anything to Brother Raden,” Laura told Randy.

“Bastard old bastard,” maki Heny while taking a breath when leaving the room with a huff. He turned down the money he inherited for her in exchange for “years‐ devoted to caring for Laura”.

Slowly the Gemintang rose from its seat and hesitantly stepped towards the person who should be the main heir in the house. “Raden, I ma..”

Raden looked up instantly, his eyes nimble at the Starling, stopping the words of the Starling before it came out of his mouth. Raden got up from the chair with hatred on his face, he left the room without a word.

Randy follows Raden and manages to catch up to him on the porch of the house. “Raden, forgive me.” He snatched Raden's shirt sleeve and managed to stop his steps out of the house. “I do not like to read the contents of the will. I've persuaded Thunder to reconsider.”

“You know better what happened, just save yourself,” replied Raden ketus.

“I've persuaded your mother to defend this house and factory on her behalf. Your mother signed a will long before she died, she bequeathed this house and factory to Guntur. At the time, I thought it wasn't a good idea. And now..”

“If you think Gemintang influences Thunder's decision, you're mistaken.”

“Is that?”

“Ya,” replied the lawyer. “The star does not care at all about this house, just like about the beasoswa it receives."

Raden turned his head instantly. “What do you know about it?”

“I know,” replied Randy while humbling his voice. “I know everything that Thunder does to the Gemintang secretly. I don't understand his attitude. I used to think he was like a bandot who likes young leaves, but.. well, he does that with other young women.” He stared. Raden. “But lately I know, many years of Thunder used the Star to pull you home.”

“Well, if that's what Thunder wanted before he died, it's been granted. Because I was home before he died." Raden left, leaving the gate behind him slammed.

From the living room, the star saw him leave. He got what he always wanted. Luxury home. But he was not at all happy.

“Tante Gemintang, what can I do with that factory?” laura asked puzzledly as she appeared behind her stepmother. “I've only been there a few times in my life.”

The feeling of pity seeing the confused young lady shifted the pain that plagued his heart. The star embraced Laura warmly. “You should not worry too much about the factory. Your father only inherited you the profits earned from the factory.”

“Then what about aunty, isn't aunty who works hard managing it?”

“I get an annual salary to supervise the factory. Randy will tell us both about his calculations and keep an eye on everything. Don't worry. Everything will go as usual.”

“Tante will stay here, right? Aunt won't go?”

“You heard what Randy read. Daddy gave this house to me.” He put his cheek into Laura's hair and let it suck the tears that fell from her eyes.

Gemintang can not be in bogongi, he knows Guntur gave his luxurious house Gemintang card to make Raden hate him very much. He is now the owner of Raden's mother's house, but he is willing to give it to Raden because he knows Raden loves this house very much, this house became part of Raden and his mother who Raden loved very much.

“Tante stay here, but brother Raden will go,” said Laura sadly.

“I hope Raden still wants to stay here because I don't mind him staying here at all." The starry one hugged Laura.
