CHAPTER 29
After a few moments of silence, Gemintang finally said, “Is your airline doing well right now?”
“Not fully. I've got permission to be a charter flight pilot, I keep collecting flight hours, improving my qualifications to get permission to fly larger planes. I met my coworkers and we planned to have our own charter plane. If there is a bankrupt airline, the plane‐ aircraft sold at a low price, and we managed to raise money to buy it. Our business advanced so much that we managed to pay off the debt long before the set time, many requests that we could not meet. We buy bigger planes, the longer the more.”
“And finally got to this point?”
“Ya.”
A circle of falling light illuminated them. The black Starling hair was draped to the shoulders, fused with the black skirt she wore. Only part of his face and neck appeared white under the yellowish light. His eyes twinkled as he looked into Raden's eyes.
“Star?” call Raden soft.
The bust of the Starry was beating rapidly. “Yes, Raden?”
“Do you ever remember when you slept with my father?”
Raden's words were like daggers being thrown into his chest, he cried bitterly and got up from the sofa. “Fuck you, Raden! Never mention that to me.”
Raden also rose from his seat and faced the stars. His chin was somewhat lifted with a haughty attitude. “I want to know. Has your little heart ever been disturbed, how could you marry Daddy after we became lovers?”
“I'm your lover, but you left me."
“True. I left you because I didn't want to hurt you, my father would hurt you if I met you in the woods and kept our relationship and refused to marry Willona. It's not just you that's gonna get hurt, I can't afford to have you dump Laura into the parlor.”
Raden gritted his teeth and his voice lowered. “I want to be the first person, who slept with you and made you mine for good.” Raden took a step forward. "You're so special, nothing compared to the girls I've met, I love you more than anything."
“You know why I didn't contact you? I don't want to involve you in my affairs with Willona, Thunder will know if I call or write to you. When my problems cleared up, you were in college and I got word you were married. I'm erasing any hope of meeting you. Next thing I got, you're already sharing a bed with my daddy!”
The starfish covered her face with both hands.it could catch the waves of hatred aimed at her. Gemintang lowered his hand, boldly looking back at Raden's eyes full of anger. “We can't keep this up, Raden,” he said gently. “We keep blaming each other”
Raden's shoulders drooped. For the umpteenth time he brushed his hair. “I know. I'll leave this place tomorrow morning.”
The heart of the Starry was broken into pieces. He didn't mean to tell Raden to leave, he just wanted the two of them to make peace. “You don't have to leave this place. I'll be the one to go. Your house. This is only a temporary residence for me, after Thunder died, I have no right to stay here anymore.”
“When you go and I stay here, what do people say later? They're gonna say I kicked my daddy's widow out. No. gabe. I'll be back in Jakarta tomorrow.”
“But the reading of the will and factory.” Gemintang tried to give a reasonable reason for Raden to stay there. There is no future for their relationship, but he cannot see Raden leaving him for the umpteenth time. Don't go yet. Later, not now.
“I will come here again on the day of reading the will. After that, we will arrange what is best. I think you better be here with Laura. About factory..” Raden smiled cynically. “Run it as usual, just like when you ran it while Thunder was still alive.”
