"Zafran! Can you come to my room?"
Dr. Hendra walked out of the room while opening the mask. His face was sweating, looking panicked. The scale did not even stop continuing past Zafran and Jago who were looking at him in confusion.
Hoping for the good news that Zafran will receive, but seeing the face of his pias doctor friend it looks like Zafran has been able to guess like the current state of Naina.
Zafran's head turned to Jago, his former foreman nodding asking him to immediately leave following Hendra to the room. Not waiting any longer, Zafran immediately took his steps into Hendra's room.
He walked in without knocking on the door and the doctor was waiting for him behind the table. Zafran sat opposite Hendra, throwing glances at each other.
Zafran impatiently waited, while Hendra was confused how to say Naina's current condition. He was composing words in mind, making them a proper sentence to say and not adding panic to Zafran's troubled heart.
"Where is Naina? Is she okay?" zafran asked like a flash of lightning striking.
Hurry and hurry impatiently want to hear the news of the baby. Hendra let out a long sigh, still confused by the arrangement of the sentences he had in mind. Zafran was stunned as the young doctor's head shook his head. Her facial ripples were unreadable, but a slight sense of regret was visible there.
"Where, Hen? He's all right, isn't he? My son's okay, isn't he?" chase Zafran is getting impatient because the doctor hasn't said a word since they sat down.
"I'm confused about what you should say, Zafran. Naina's condition is really severe, don't you know that she's been sick all this time?" The sentence that was thrown from the doctor's lips completely tore off Zafran's maleness.
His status as Father is being questioned, at stake, and accounted for. After everything happened, then he realized how long he did not care about his son.
Zafran lowered his head, guilt started lodging in his heart. Really he felt struck by the same question as Jago was asked on the trip earlier.
"A-I don't know, all this time I just work and don't care too much about Naina. What's he sick of, Hen? Please, don't kidnap me" said Zafran. His eyes begged his friend, but all was done. Rice has become porridge.
"She had severe anemia, Zafran, and had to have a blood transfusion immediately. Your son is critical" said Hendra, shaking weakly, "the problem ...." Hendra's follow-up sentence hung Zafran curious.
"What else? If he needs blood, take as much blood as he needs. Take it right now, Hendra. Take it!" Zafran inflamed, even standing up giving up his life for Naina.
"No, that's not the problem ...." Hendra bit his lip, his face turned away as if reluctant to look at Naina's father.
"What else, Hen? He's my son, our blood's supposed to match, right? What are you waiting for, take my blood now, Hendra!" snapped the fiery Zafran.
Hendra looked confused, restless on his face was clearly visible. What the hell is it? Zafran wondered in his heart.
"The problem is that Naina's blood doesn't match either you or her mother. None of you can have that blood transfusion with him. If you want Naina to survive, you have to find a person whose blood type is the same as her," said Hendra sounding bitter.
Zafran was stunned to hear his explanation, his body frozen riveted. Only the eyelids and lips are visible to move, twitching to withstand emotional turmoil.
"No! No way! Must be one of us matching her blood, Hen. You must be wrong!" reject Zafran.
He's still standing propped up on Hendra's desk. His heart rumbled violently, like thunder that echoed in the sky. Signs a storm will spill over the earth.
"But that's the truth, Zafran. Naina is not your child, she is someone else's child who grew up before you. I don't know who, for sure this is not my design, this is a reality" Hendra said, confirming their birth status.
Zafran lunglai's body lost energy, he collapsed on the floor with bated breath. It felt like the entire world he had was destroyed instantly, there was nothing more he expected. Everything has been broken into pieces and will not be able to come back again.
Hendra moved closer, crouching in front of Zafran who paled due to the loss of air in the lungs. The man leaned weakly against Hendra's desk legs, tears flocking down from the corms raining down his cheeks.
The storm had come, ravaging the taste in his heart. Feeling being played and taken advantage of by Lita, the con woman.
"You're patient, Zafran. This is a life ordeal that you must accept, no matter what status Naina, she has been taken care of from birth. He's innocent, Zafran. His mother is wrong, don't throw blame on a child as small as Naina. Poor thing, he needs your love" advised Hendra, who was rejected by Zafran's heart.
If that was the reality he had to accept, then forever he would not accept all of it. Naina is still not her biological child even though she witnessed her own birth and took care of herself with her hands.
Zafran refused to admit, he did not want to take care of a sick child who in fact was not his biological child. The man's head shook his head, all this time he was fighting against the shame of being an OB only for a child born not from his seed.
Nah! It feels like enough Zafran to be friends with stupidity, he should be able to escape from all the snares that Lita made.
"So he's not my son, I don't want to admit it either, Hendra. I do not care for a child born not of my seed. I don't care, I don't care" raced bitterly Zafran.
His eyes stared blankly ahead, there was really no hope in his eyes let alone love. There is only hatred, endless grudges, deep disappointment. Not spared also the increasingly fertile regret growing in his heart.
"The most important thing is that we have to save Naina's life. He is innocent, should not be guilty of the sins of parents. He was a child and knew nothing about his parents' problems. Do not vent your anger with him," said Hendra as he rubbed his shoulder that went down far.
Hendra helps the frail man to move on and out looking for someone who can donate his blood to Naina. Seeing the condition of Zafran is slow, Jago immediately stood up to welcome.
"What's up, Doctor? Why are you so limp?" tanyanya immediately.
Doctor Hendra patted Jago on the shoulder, sighing tired due to the complicated problems Zafran was facing.
"Naina needs a blood transfusion as soon as possible, while Zafran's condition is not possible to do so. Can you get blood to the blood bank?" ask the doctor to Jago.
"If the child's blood matches mine, take my blood, Doctor!" jago said without hesitation.
Zafran was surprised to hear the words of his former foreman. Why would he give her blood to Naina? In contrast to Zafran, Doctor Hendra actually looked in admiration and pride at him, immediately Jago was brought into the room to do all the examination arrangements. Coincidentally, her blood did indeed match Naina's.
They both sit on the same bench. Waiting for the work of the medical staff. Naina's condition has stabilized, but she is unconscious. The child was malnourished, food intake was completely unnoticed by his two masters. Really sad indeed.
Zafran moved, his heart completely in a frenzy at this moment. He stood on a pillar, banging his head many times. Jago just silently noticed, anyone will be hit if faced with a situation like Zafran.
Until Lita's arrival, the face made Zafran's emotions explode until he unconsciously swung his hand slapped hard enough on the woman's cheek. Lita fell down while holding her cheek.
"Zafran! What the fuck are you?!"
"Sir Zafran!"
As if deaf, he looked up at his wife who was sitting on the floor crying. Zafran's chest felt tight to make it have to hunt the air greedily.
