Pov Raya
"Raya change clothes for a while, Mik," I said as Mahfudz was taken to the police station.
Ummik nodded and also to his room to change clothes.
I told you Ummik didn't need to come, but Ummik was worried about me being pregnant to go out for the night by myself.
I really am confused by this situation. The police thought Ayuni had been kidnapped by Mahfudz, but Fuadlah was the one they were looking for.
I took my phone and tried to contact Fuad.
[The number you are going to is off or out of range]
I called until a few times the results stayed that way. Where's Fuad? Where'd he take Ayuni? Yes, God how is this? Should I call Mama? I glanced at the wall clock that was already showing almost half 12 nights. This hour should be Mama's asleep.
"Ray, let's go!" Ummik.
I took the car keys and got out.
When we got to the police station there was Waridi and his wife and Mahfudz was being interrogated.
Ms. Waridi looked at me angrily. "What is your problem with Ayuni until your husband kidnaps my daughter, Doctor Ma'am?"
"Propag .... Patience, Ma ...." Waridi with her natural acting tried to calm his wife.
It makes me sick and I want to laugh. We finally met again here today.
"You smiling? What's so funny? Is this something fun for you?" ma'am Waridi shouted furiously at me.
I paid no heed to him but to take Ummik to a chair. I'm going to the information section to ask where they are interrogating Mahfudz but this Waridi's wife doesn't seem to want to let me. He came to me again.
"You said Ayuni was sexually assaulted a few months ago. Did your husband do it? Did he do this? You're a doctor, but you're not human. You savages!" his yell.
Oh, myGod! I can't wait to face it.
"What does it mean to say that my husband is the culprit? You mean the Deputy Mayor's mother accused my husband of sexually abusing Ayuni?" tanyaku.
"Yes. Your husband did. That's why he asked Ayuni to run away from home. What kind of wife don't you know your own husband's behavior??!!!!" his yell.
His shout made the attention of the officers who were still working tonight so seized. Some even stayed indoors until they came out and tried to calm Waridi's wife. Ummik who was silent just now stood up to me.
"Ray, you calm down. We're here for Mahfudz" Ummik said as he tried to take me back to his seat.
"Shortly, Mik!" reject me.
I threw my breath away with the remaining vestiges of my patience.
"Sorry, Dear Deputy Mayor! Introspect yourself before you say anything bad to someone else. You said what? What kind of wife do I not know about my husband's behavior? Should I tell you? I am a wife who pays attention to my husband's needs including bed issues. I served her so well that I dared to guarantee that she would not look at other women, let alone other women who were pregnant. How about yourself? Are you sure you are doing your job as a good wife? Or what if your husband is the one who raped Ayuni and attempted murder? Are you sure you know everything inside and out of your husband?"
"Shut your mouth!!!" snapped Waridi. No more looking friendly face full of imaging on his face.
At the same time his wife slapped me very hard. Ummik swiftly wanted to reply, but I held him back.
"Woman ******! I'll report you for defamation. How dare you say that. My husband is a meritorious and dedicated man to this city. He nurtured and guaranteed the education of abandoned and orphaned children. How dare you accuse him of being a rapist!!! Even raped her own daughter? What a cruel accusation you have made!"
"Report!" my challenge. "Well now we're at the police station. Looks like I can also report this as a case of persecution and violence, can't I, sir?" ask one of the police officers.
The policeman was nervous and replied.
"I-yes."
"I'm fed up with this problem. I warned you. Never accuse my husband and say anything to him. If you want to report, report it. I'm better that way. What if the Ayuni case a few months ago we re-investigate? Maybe you won't be this confident anymore when you find out who's behind this!" I said with hate.
"Shut your mouth!" This time Waridi again intimidated me with sharp words.
I grinned at his threat.
"Don't you dare intimidate me again or try to kidnap me and disturb my family. You may never know, if the ace you lost could have been in my hand now. And ah .... Actually some time there was someone who terrorized me by sending me a mutilated carcass of a cat and finally a pregnant cat with a weeded stomach. In my mind, could it be you, Mr Vice Mayor?"
I saw Waridi's reaction. Seen a cynical grin on the tip of his lips. I shuddered to see it. But my emotions due to hormonal changes seemed to dominate me more than my fears.
"I hope it's not you, because if it was you I wouldn't hesitate to report this to the Cat Lovers Indonesia Community. You tau? Now torturing animals has its laws!"
Everyone who was there was stunned at my words. They might not believe me. But I don't care about their assumptions. I again sat down next to Ummik after I was told to wait by the information section.
\*\*\*\*\*\*
"His wife's mother Mr Mahfudz?" The officer asked me.
I'm nodding. "Yes." Yeah."
"Please come with me for a moment, Mom ...."
I turned to Ummik.
"Raya into first, Mik," I said.
Ummik just nodded.
I did not ignore the sight of Waridi and his wife who followed me until I was out of their sight.
"Who's Mom?" ask the investigator.
"Raya Effendi" I replied.
The officer then typed my name on his computer.
"Great Mother, Mr. Mahfudz's wife's mother, right?"
I'm nodding. "true."
"Sorry Mother Raya, we need your testimony as a witness. So we hope it's a minute. The mother's testimony is indispensable for the benefit of this case. So please answer honestly" he said.
I'm nodding.
"Mother with Mr Mahfudz has been married for how long, Mom?"
"About 1 month and a half, the end of the month will be even 2 months" I replied.
"Well, it's still a newlywed" said the mangosteen. I just assented.
"Mother Mahfudz and Mother Raya if you know where? A boyfriend? Be paired or what?"
"I'm a doctor at Siaga Medika hospital and it just so happened that my husband was there. I happen to be the consul"
"That's an interesting love story. I think I heard it a few months ago. Scandal of a doctor and his college student. Sorry, is that Mr Mahfudz and Mrs Raya?"
Oh, God why the trouble came back. My hunch, Mr. Investigator, will lead me to uncomfortable questions.
"Yes" I replied lazily.
"So Grandmother knows Ayuni's sister?"
"I don't know him personally. It's just that I was his doctor when there was a case that hit him a few months ago" I replied.
"If Mr Mahfudz knew Ayuni's sister? My point here is as far as Mother's knowledge."
"No." I replied for sure.
"You sure?"
I'm nodding.
"Okay, next question. How is the relationship between Mother Kingdom and Mr. Mahfudz. What's harmony?"
I started staring dislikefully at the investigator.
"Yes. Very harmonious."
"Harmonist here is included in the relationship of the couple? Intimate relationship?"
I stared in disbelief at this investigator. I started to get emotional.
"Should I answer that? It was a very private thing in my household" I objected.
"I'm sorry once again Ms. Raya, but this is in the interest of the investigation. We didn't mean anything else."
I looked at him in annoyance.
"All right, can we continue?" tanyakanya.
I nodded with a heavy heart.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to underestimate Bu Raya, but in terms of intimate relationships are you two romantic?Harmonious? I mean, Bu Raya is older than Mr. Mahfudz. Did Bu Raya ever think that a mother's husband might be sexually attracted to a younger person? For example with people the age of Sister Ayuni. By the way Ayuni's sister is still 20 years old" she told me.
I don't know what it means to say that.
"My husband and I are romantic and have a harmonious relationship. In intimate relationships as well."
"How many times a week do you do it?"
Oh, my God, this is stressing me out.
"We do it almost every day after work and at dawn before he leaves for the hospital. Is the information I provide about the relationship enough? Do I need to tell you the details from foreplay to climax?" manya irritated.
"Haha .... It doesn't need to be Grandma" he said. Maybe he's starting to catch my displeasure with the questions he's asking.
At that moment a female officer came and whispered to the investigator. The investigator looks to nod. After his partner left the investigator asked me again.
"Bu Raya, if you look back at the case a few months ago, it felt that the Bu Raya claimed to be kidnapped at that time, but what happens in the field is Bu Raya with her students koas mother who is now in the context of husband Mother is ehmm.."dehemnya feel bad. "I'm sorry, you were found in a condition like spending the night together in an empty house. However, you two equally denied having a relationship. And more severe Bu Raya claimed kidnapped Mr. Waridi. But what is happening now is that you two are married. Can you explain why this happened? Do you have any grudges or personal interests with Mr Waridi?"
"On my marriage to my husband. Maybe you could call it destiny. Come to think of it we won't know when and where to meet our soul mate, will we, sir? Same with death and fortune. I met my husband when I was still a consultant or a doctor. We don't know Mr. Deputy Mayor personally. We only know that he is the deputy mayor of television, digital or print media. Even if they have never met. Until that day Mr Waridi's daughter was rushed to our hospital and became my patient there. And I found physical evidence of sexual violence and abuse. As agreed by the hospital, the case was reported to the police and because Mr. Waridi was a public figure, we needed to give a press conference. I was one of the team of doctors who did the press conference that day. And the next day I was kidnapped by Mr. Waridi's men. After being brought to the house, Mr. Waridi expressed his request that I withdraw my statement at the press conference and make a restatement in the second press conference. But until the end you won't believe me. Then after that incident my husband and I got closer and strengthened each other because it was hard for me to face the news of the scandal. And then I finally married him. What's so weird?" ask after explaining at length.
The investigator's a mangosteen. I'm sure even if he had heard my reasoning about the kidnapping, he would have pretended never to have heard of it.
"Okay, last question. Ibu Raya said Mom's husband also koas in the hospital where mom works. Are you sure she never skipped the hospital?" ask again.
"I'm sure he never skips unless it's very important. But for more details can be asked to the hospital, friends, or consultants. Even if he needs to go out in the working hours he must have a logical reason" I said defending Mahfudz.
"What if Mother Raya sees this?"
The investigator tilted his computer at me, so I could see clearly. There is CCTV footage of a man resembling Mahfudz waiting for a pregnant woman to board his arms. That woman is Ayuni. And I know that guy is Fuad. Somehow Waridi was able to get the CCTV footage. But Fuad is clearly in big trouble.
"That's not my husband" I replied.
"Who is he then? The twins? Or ghosts?" The investigator laughed.
"He is my husband's twin. Called Fuad. Have you never seen twins before? Is that funny?"
The investigator was silent to my answer. Looks like she's embarrassed.
"Is Bu Raya sure it's not Mr Mahfudz?"
"certain. As a wife of course I can tell which husband my husband is not."
"Ehm ... Alright, is there anyone who can confirm this? That Mr Mahfudz and this CCTV insider are different people?" tanyakanya.
"There was. My in-laws," I replied.
"Where is the home address of his father-in-law Bu Raya? We need to pick up his mother-in-law to confirm whether that's Mr. Mahfudz here or his twin."
I told the police Mama's address. I'm sorry Fuad, I have no other choice. I can't let Mahfudz get caught.
In the midst of my guilt, my hand suddenly shook. I opened my bag. There's a call from a new number. I dare not lift it. Not long after the SMS came in.
[Sister-in-law, this is my new number. FUAD! Pickup phone!]
Oh my God, how is this? If I pick up Fuad's phone, it can be caught later by the investigator.
The phone kept calling until my phone vibrated.
"Why hasn't the phone been picked up by Bu Raya?" ask the investigator.
"Oh, this is a call from my friend. I haven't finished my testimony as a witness, I'll just pick it up."
"Night-night?"
"Yes, I asked her to help me find a lawyer for nights like this."
"Oh, lift! Our session is over."
I'm nodding. Then swipe the green phone icon on the phone screen.
"Hallo ..." I hesitated as I glanced at the investigator
"Hallo, Sister-in-law .... Please help me, please,"
