"I think we both fixed it, but I was wrong. I'm the only one trying to fix our relationship."
Marshal's hand stopped compressing the wound on his wife's cheek. He saw that Viona did not understand what Viona had just said.
"I'm willing to let go of it for our marriage until I watch it fetch a new life. But, you?" Viona saw the Marshal a little disappointed. "If it's just a promise to let go, why did you do it for me? He did this because he thought I took you from him."
After a long silence, the Marshal kept the compress on the nightstand. He turned to Viona who was now looking at him seriously. "You mean Amanda?"
Viona was silent. Who else does he mean? Unanswered, the Marshal must know who Viona was sniping.
"Okay, I admit, I haven't ended it. But, after the incident at papa's party back then, I had never once seen him again. He tried to meet me, but I avoided him. I'm sorry for everything I've done."
"So, what are you going to do now?" Viona looked so sharp looking at her husband's eyes.
Marshal's breath sounded riled up. He carried Viona's hand and grasped it tightly. "Difficult. I don't know what to do with letting go. I can't bear to see him hurt. I can't just let go of him. I'm sorry, Ra!"
The marshal raised Viona's hand, squeezed it firmly and stuck the hand on her forehead. Marshal bowed with a feeling he could not control at all.
Viona pulled her hand from the Marshal's grasp slowly. "You really love him. You shouldn't have kept me, then he wouldn't be what he is now. You're wrong, if you pretend to love me just for our wedding. Your heart is still on him."
"No, honey, it's not like that." The marshal shook his head quickly. He grabbed Viona's hand back and grasped it tightly. "I love you so much, that's why I hold you back. On the contrary, I've been pretending to love Amanda all this time, when that's not really it."
Viona looked at Marshal not understanding. "Don't play me like this, Chal! When I let go of everything and tried to open my heart, you said nonsense that even I knew, you were just trying to defend me for no apparent reason. However, your heart is still not willing to let go of him. I have my pride. If I'm the only one trying to fix it, what's this marriage for us to do again? What's for?"
Marshal was silent for quite a while. His gaze seemed worried to see Viona who already looked frustrated. "Give me some time, Ra! I need some time to let him go. I can't be as strong as you, as hard as you, when you forget the man. Can't do. I can't do it."
Viona just threw away her face. She is already caught off guard by this wedding drama. Enough already he was toyed with by fate, do not be toyed with also by the reality that now even comes to feel nauseating.
"She had a history of major depression."
Viona's gaze returned to her husband. There was a deep sad tone from the way her husband spoke. The face of Marshal looks so sad. Their eyes clashed and dived into each other in silence.
"The Amanda family died simultaneously from a massacre that took place about seven years ago. Only she and her brother remained. However, sister also followed them after accompanying Amanda until she met me. Her brother was best friends with me since I was in Europe at school. He left Amanda with me. After I was willing to look after her, Amanda's sister was killed by a psychopath who was none other than her own uncle."
Viona closed her mouth in shock. He doesn't know Amanda's life is that scary. She was teary-eyed, unable to imagine how Amanda would accept everything that had happened in her life.
"After hearing this, will you leave him alone? What do you think I can do?"
"Give me some time until I can find a good guard for him."
Viona's lips felt faint to speak. He shook his head as his brain thought about the massacre that had happened to Amanda's family.
"There's no other reason for me to keep him, Ra. Just because of that. All this time I've been misinterpreting kasian into love. In reality, I just want to protect her. I just want to take care of him. That's why I'd rather marry you than fight for the blessing to marry Amanda. Because my true love is you, not her."
Viona's stunned. I don't feel her tears drip uncontrollably. There was a sense of sadness, pity and a sense of worth he felt at this moment.
"I admit, I did love her, but that was before I saw you again. After I meet you again, my heart goes back to the previous owner. I told you, you were my first love. I'm so hard to forget you, it's true." Marshal took back the compress. Put it on his wife's face gently. "I really love him. But, in retrospect, my affection for Amanda was nothing more than wanting to protect her."
"Then, what are you planning to do by moving his contract to Milan?"
Marshal smiled faintly, saving the compresses back. "Do you know where I moved him to Milan? Did Amanda say that?"
Viona nodded. He opened his mouth as the Marshal fed the wine Erni had prepared for him earlier when the Marshal entered with a compress.
"I purposely avoided it. I want to take it off slowly until she gets used to it and can accept if I ever actually let go."
"When did that happen?"
Viona's mouth was full, the Marshal continued to stuff the wine until her cheeks were bloated with a sweet mouth. Marshal was even chuckling amusedly, his wife looked so cute.
"I don't know. But, I promise I will. Will you give me some time until Amanda finds a good man to look after her?"
After all the food was swallowed well, Viona again said, "He won't find another man, if it's still tied to you."
The son of Vishnu nodded his head. "Yes, that's why I moved him out of the country. I know, her job as a model is a priotas for Amanda. He must be right there. I hope he can be close to other men if it's far away from me."
Viona refused a fruit feed from her husband. He asked for a minun and the Marshal gave it to him. "Is that not too much? You throw it away slowly?"
Marshal's naughtiness makes Viona resentful and throws her lips. Marshal saw him get anxious, powerless, he stole a kiss from his wife's lips. "Your words are too harsh, dear. I'm not throwing it away, just giving him a chance to be close to another man."
"Just the same. Once he has the others, you'll let him go, won't you? You let him search. That way you can disconnect him on grounds as if he's cheating." Viona snorted dejectedly, Marshal pinched her nose in a fit of anxiety and kissed her bruised cheek until Viona grimaced with pain.
Marshal apologized as he chuckled and gently rubbed his kiss marks on the injured part. "My wife was too smart to guess right on target. Sorry, I covered it up with you."
