Wings & Dreams

Wings & Dreams
For you

My heart is beating fast. I kept pulling Stef's hand and running, with mixed feelings. Now we had made it out of the apartment building, and the scorching rays of the sun lit up the highway. Perhaps the darkness I saw in the window was one of the magic created by Chrys.

Faea. They are Fae. I can't accept this weirdness. I had seen a Fae as a child, but I never thought the experience would happen to me again.

"Stop a minute, Clara!" Shouting Stef. He immediately took his hand out of my grip. "Actually who are they? Do you know them?"

"Knowing?!" Stef and I are near the park. I looked back and saw no one chasing us. "Listen to me, Stef," I said as I caught my breath. "I knew you wouldn't trust my words, but that was"

"Most?! A criminal?!" Stef started to panic. "And why are they wearing costumes like Halloween?! It's still August!"

"That's not a costume, Stef!" I tried to explain to him. Clearly they were emitting some kind of magic or dangerous power. "They're not human! But Fae! A creature that's usually in fairy tales!"

Stef just squinted his eyes. "What did you eat wrong, Clara?" Then he reached into his pocket. "Whoever they are, I have to call the police." His hands were busy looking for his cell phone, and I remembered that his phone had been damaged because of me. "Where's my phone?!"

"Stef.actually..." I'm at a loss for words. I actually left my phone in the apartment. And the nearest police station is miles from here, so there's no alternative. Stef let out a strange sound that sounded like the sound of laughter as well as crying. "Don't tell me my phone was left behind."

I then remembered what they wanted. Not precious things, for I have nothing. They wanted me. They want me to come with them.

"Stef, we have to help Jon" I said. "Maybe if I turn myself in, they'll let Jon go."

"You crazy?!" Stef shook his head. "Jon sacrificed himself so you could get out of there. And now you want to go back to that room?!"

I was furious to hear a reply from Stef. It felt like I no longer knew him. The good Stef, the one who always supported me, is now only concerned with himself. "Why did you do that with Jon?! Why are you two lying to me?!" I pulled her collar, even though Stef's body was taller than mine. "If you really like it, at least show a little care!"

"Clara.what are you-" Stef could not say anything. His jaw hardened and he glared at me. "I never lied to you! I love it, but it's yours!" Stef rubbed his face full of annoyance. "Originally you know, you've been accusing me recklessly."

I was reminded of what was shown through Chrys magic. "But I clearly saw you in my room with her"

"Yes, indeed! But I didn't touch her one bit!" Her beautiful face was getting tired. "Because I know Jon's really sincere with you."

My heart feels slashed. Then, was my vision wrong? Was that one of those cheap tricks that Fae had deliberately made?

Jon's screams are still echoing in my ears. "Don't follow me" I whispered before I turned my back, running back to my apartment.

***

I let down the sound of my footsteps, occasionally holding my breath. I grabbed the broomstick at the end of the room, then grasped it tightly. I have to be careful, it could be that the strange creature is still wandering.

Friction sounds faintly. I hurriedly turned to the source of the voice, but I could see nothing. I finally tiptoed and entered my room slowly.

The broom I held immediately fell down. Right near my bed, Jon's in terrible shape. His body was tied by a rope, while his eyes were covered in a white cloth. Blood was scattered everywhere, while his face was covered in bruises and deep scratches. Blood poured from his stomach that seemed to have been stabbed.

Three Fae surrounded him. I don't see Chrys, but I don't care. I immediately ran and shook Jon's weakly drooping body on the floor. "Jon! Wake up!"

"Clara, I think she's okay," said the girl. He put his hand on my shoulder. "I knew you'd come back for your friend."

"What have you done to him?!" I cried while crying for Jon. "Why?" I shook my head weakly, clutching Jon's body tightly.

"Chrys." Zeyn shook his head. "Fae's been torturing your friend."

"Clara, please," said the girl again. "You have to help us. You are not safe. A lot of Fae's been after you. You have to come with us."

My tears have wet Jon's cheeks. I touched the gentle face of the man. The man I love so much. "I don't understand."

"I promise your friend will be healed." The white-haired girl moved her hands with a gurgle. Jon's body bond breaks. "However, for the wounds inflicted by the Fae, your friend must be cared for by a Fae Healer."

"Fae Healer?" I don't understand what he means. However, I don't want to linger. I want Jon to be healed.

"I'm Kei" said the girl again. "And this is Clora. That man is Zeyn." He opened his wings and flapped them. Fine dust fell from her beautiful wings. "We'll help you." Then he stretched out his hand.

I wiped my tears, then looked at her hand. "You promise you won't hurt me? And you're gonna cure Jon?"

Clora nodded. "Yes." Yeah."

I changed my eyes to Zeyn. The man did not say anything, and was already carrying Jon's helpless body.

A part of me still doesn't trust them. However, Jon's situation is now my top priority. If only Fae can cure him, then inevitably I have to obey. So with a single nod, I received Kei's hand.

"Hand." Kei smiled sweetly, and before long my feet had not touched the floor.
