The workspace Zeyn meant was more like a library to me. Some bookshelves that become wall wallpaper each have a large size. The man himself was busy reading a book. He sat by the window, his head bowed gracefully. Fainya's ears twitched and he immediately looked up when he heard my footsteps.
"Who read what book?" I began to be interested. I'm a book lover, so it's only natural to ask this when I see someone reading a book. Zeyn closed the book and showed me the cover. "Ten Inventions of the Man of the Century." I almost choked. "You..interested in human life?"
He raised his shoulders. "I don't know what else to read." His eyes were directed towards his bookshelf. Hundreds of books are on display there. "By the way, human life is interesting."
My eyes were fixed on one of the books on the shelf. Color and size of familiar cover. I picked it up and gasped when I saw the title. "Oscar Wilde?" Zeyn nodded. "The Picture of Dorian Gray?" I looked at him in disbelief. Fae also read literature books. "Aren't you reading Fae's book? Like, for example..." I'm thinking hard. "How to cook using Fae's magic?"
I was surprised because he laughed. "There is no such book."
"But there should be a book about your magic!" I said half excited. Zeyn nodded. He approached another bookcase, then gave me a thick book. "Faepedia," I read the title. Judging from the title of the book, it looks like this book that discusses Fae.
"You can read this book." Zeyn sat back in his chair. "But now there are more important things to talk about."
"Oh." I almost forgot my true purpose for coming to him. "Say."
"Lately, the Fae were startled by the corpses that were suddenly found in a terrible state."
"What-like?" Askaqua. "Are they mutilated? It burnt? Hanged?" I was sorry to have made this into a joke. I forget that what he is describing is the fate of his own people, not a fictional story in a fairy tale or the contents of a film.
"How did you guess?" Zeyn looked at me. "Mutilation. You know how they are."
I hurriedly replied so that he would not suspect me. "Don't misunderstand me! I'm just guessing it, 'cause normally" I gulp my saliva. Because that's what I usually watch in movies.
Zeyn still gave me his creepy look. "so. So this has nothing to do with your ability to predict." I'm nodding. "I told you before, I can't predict."
I just fell silent.
"Their wings are cut."
I gasped and shut my mouth. "What?!"
"Say, their wings were stolen." Zeyn. "And I don't know who to suspect. The fog protects Fae's territory, so it can't be the work of an outsider."
"Then you need me to look to the future and find the answer" I whispered, but this time he heard my words clearly. "Yes." Yeah."
"So, this is another Fae fad?"
Zeyn frowned. "You know there's a rule not to kill anyone. They would've been caught if it had been Fae."
It was only fitting that Chrys would accuse me of being the murderer of the Fae. "Why did Chrys come to me, not another human?" Why does he accuse me of so many people in my city?
"I guess because you're the only human who believes in Fae's existence" Zeyn casually replied. "And now, you are in danger. Many Fae are after you because of rumors that you have the ability to see into your dreams."
"Who spread the rumor?" My head suddenly felt dizzy. "Why did you come to the conclusion that I have such great abilities?"
"Because you showed it at the wrong time." Zeyn. "That night, the night of the Spring Festival. The fog showed it to me. A little human who had entered Fae territory."
