Wings & Dreams

Wings & Dreams
Ch.5 - Dreams

I dreamt of sitting on a cloud. The sunlight was shining so hot, blinding as well as blinding my eyes. I wiggled my legs in a relaxed manner, then lay on a cloud that felt soft and comfortable.

I was about to close my eyes while listening to the soft laughter of someone. I opened my eyes and could see a girl flying around the grass below. That girl was a Fae. The wings are green and bright like leaves growing on a shady tree. Her pink hair is tied by the tendrils of flowering plants.

The girl was with her friends who also had green wings. They were busy taking care of the plants. One of them seemed to be splashing water, some were busy blowing powder like plant fertilizer.

Before long, the sound of jiggling horseshoes sounded from the end of the road. I narrowed my eyes and could see a group of people in armour and wearing tight helmets. Their horses moved very quickly, because in one blink of an eye, they had already pulled out their swords from the waist belt, and unsheathed them right towards the Fae girls.

I'm yelling. I could not see if the murderers had wings or not; for my vision had begun to blur. Blood inundated the path. The poor girls were already lying on the floor. The people who had killed them started to surround the four-numbered corpse of Fae. Their body parts are scattered. They were mutilated. And their wings.

I opened my eyes and sat down. I squeezed the blanket I was using. My body is shaking violently. My strands of hair were stuck to my face and neck because of the sweat that washes it. Another dream about Fae, I thought while shaking my head.

"Nightmare?" Ask someone. I turned my head and could see Zeyn sitting quietly on a sofa. I gasped and blinked many times as I looked at the wings on his back. So Fae was real. It´s real. I touched both of my cheeks. It's real, it's real, I told myself.

There was no sunlight through the window, indicating it was already night.

I realized I was in a foreign place. After massaging my aching head, I returned to recall everything clearly. Yesterday, these three Fae had brought me to their territory. I vomited because I could not fly with them. My body ached and without caring about anything else, I fell asleep.

"Maybe this is normal for you." Zeyn gave me a cup of tea. I accepted it and immediately took a sip. My feelings improved and my body became relieved.

I was in a small room and loaded with furniture. Zeyn sat down next to me. This time I could see his face clearly. His chin is taper, his eyelashes are pliable adorn his big brown eyeball. He is classified as a perfect man, coupled with the skin color gene of a Fae is clean white and tall body.

He smiled at me. "You must be hungry. Come with me to the dining room."

It turned out to be a small cottage. There was the sound of a spoon clashing with a plate from the kitchen. When I entered the dining room, I could see Clora who was on my back. He was wearing an apron tied to his waist. He chanted a melody that sounded false and perfunctory. Smoke from the food being cooked by him billowed on the ceiling. Meanwhile at the dining table, Kei played a leaf with his finger. The leaves move on their own. I looked at him in wonder and finally realized he was using his magic.

"Clar!" Kei and Clora greeted me at the same time. I smiled a little and wanted to greet them, but they did not return my hand. Maybe Fae never shakes hands.

Clora raised her pancake filled with orange hot soup, then placed it on the table. "Well, please eat!"

I have never eaten soup like this. Soups that contain a lot of spices and add to the richness of taste. While brewing this hot soup, I asked, "Where's Jon?"

"Okay, but where is he?" Ask again. "Is he dead?"

"Not yet" Zeyn said in a flat tone. "He was stationed in this cottage as well. You can visit him across the room, but before you have to ask permission from that Fae Healer."

"Why?"

"Because Fae Healer doesn't like to be interrupted by his work," Kei said as he ate the soup voraciously. "Although Sana is a kind and patient woman." Kei raised his shoulders. "Eitherway. I'm not too close to Fae Healer. They're very serious about their job."

I looked at the three Fae who were eating casually with me. "By the way, about why you should take me to your territory..."

Zeyn put down his spoon. I gawked at the contents of his empty bowl without a trace. "We thought you could help us."

Help the Fae? Wh-wh-what for? As if he could read my mind, Zeyn continued. "Are you able to predict and see the future through your dreams?"

I was choked by the hot soup and now I'm coughing. I hit my own chest, not caring about the strange gaze now directed at me. "What do you mean?"

"I saw you back then" murmured Clora. "To be more precise, Zeyn and I saw you back then." His eyes stared at the ceiling of the room blankly, his mind drifting. "You were a little girl then, and every night, you must have experienced the same thing."

I'm sculpting. Kei behaved that way too. "What do you mean?" Many confusion. When did they see me? I thought about the Fae I saw again. I'm pretty sure Fae is Chrys.

"Don't you remember?" Clora raised her eyebrows. The girl was looking bad. "You'll always yell out loud, so your grandmother has to wake you up."

I've squeezed Clora's arm. "You know my Grandma?!"

"Umm.maybe." Clora brushed my hand off violently. I had thought he would scold me, fortunately the girl did not mind my disrespectful attitude. "After that you will be compressed until your body temperature returns to normal. That's what happens every night."

Did ya? I tried to remember it, but my memory faltered. I don't remember anything about my childhood. More precisely, the memory after Grandma read me my favorite fairy tale. I will always forget my dreams. But we can't remember our dreams after we wake up, can we?

After that, I forgot what would happen next. My memory jumps right away, which is when Grandma always asks me about my condition. Am I okay, is my head still dizzy, and so on. All this time I thought I had a lost disease when I found happiness in the city of Ratterdam. That's what I always tell myself after meeting Jon and Stef.

What do they mean by prophecy? Have I really been able to see the future through my dreams?
