Alex learned of this when they had a conversation at his first meeting with Zeff.

"As you know, your rank is instantly upgraded to silver with the condition that all points you earn in each mission will be used to cover your point debt."

Alex nodded. He accepted it when he first heard about it.

After all if he had to start from the wood rank, the mission he could take was only an e-level mission, which had a slight reward. Surely it would be a very long time before he could accumulate points to pay for his rank increase.

In Rod's village, Alex buys five bottles of recovery potions from Benzir for a fee of five gold coins.

When Benzir traveled to the Elf kingdom, he bought a number of recovery potions at the price of one gold coin per bottle. If plus the travel expenses where he hired adventurers as well as other expenses, of course he suffered losses from the trade.
