"Please come in, son!" The woman was surprised to learn that the young man in front of her was a silver adventurer, at a fairly young age.
She invites Alex into the living room, then takes a moment's farewell to call her husband inside.
While waiting for Ron's arrival with his wife, Alex observes the interior of their home.
There are wooden fillings on the walls that have been hollow. Even so, the new patch does not cover the state of the wood behind it, which has been weathered inedible by time.
Although the condition of this house is old, people who live in it always take care of the condition of the house. Seen from the cleanliness and comfortable atmosphere that Alex felt since entering the room.
Alex is convinced that if Ron and his wife have enough money, they will completely renovate the part of the house that has been damaged by inedible age, not just patch it with small pieces of board.
"Sorry to keep you waiting." Alex's thoughts were interrupted by a middle-aged man approaching her.
Behind the man, the woman had previously carried a wooden tray with three cups of water.
"Sorry we can only provide water." The woman smiled shyly.
"It's okay. Before that, I didn't know your name." Alex smiled back.
"I forgot, hehehe... I'm Sarah. Son Leon can call me aunt Sarah."
"Good aunt Sarah." Nod Alex.
"So your name is Leon? Introduce me is Ron who sent a mission request to the adventurer guild. Just call uncle Ron" Ron reached out and introduced himself to Alex.
"Greetings uncle Ron." Alex received his hand department.
"Newly this time a silver-ranked adventurer accepted the mission we had proposed. Previously, the group of adventurers that came consisted of only bronze-ranked." Ron thought the silver adventurers in front of him were only willing to come, as they had increased the amount of the reward to forty silver coins.
"Isn't this a c-level mission?" Alex asked confusedly.
From the information he heard, the mission level could only be worked out according to the adventurer rank.
- E-level missions: The lowest-level missions. All adventurer ranks can work on such missions.
- Level d missions: Missions that can be taken by an adventurer with a bronze rank or above.
- Level c missions: Minimal is taken by a silver-ranked adventurer.
- Level b missions: Minimal taken by a gold-ranked adventurer.
- A level mission: Minimal taken by a mithril rank adventurer.
- S-level missions: Missions of the highest rank, which can only be taken by an adamantium adventurer.
"Didn't you know? If in one group there are ten or more people who have the same rank, the group can take missions one level above." Ron looked at Alex strangely.
"Certainly uncle? I just found out. Besides, I just registered in the adventurer guild earlier. So the information I received was still limited." Alex smiled shyly.
Hearing Alex's words, Ron and Sarah looked at each other with shocked expressions.
'Just signed up, but the adventurer guild instantly gave him a silver rating. Doesn't this mean they acknowledge the power of this child?' Both of them tried to hold a happy expression.
At first Ron underestimated Alex a little, because he thought Alex was only willing to take on this mission after the mission reward increased.
Now he admires the young man in front of him, and feels guilty for thinking badly of Alex before.
"Yes, you can know that from anyone. Anyway, let's start discussing this kidnapping case." Ron changed the topic to Alex's mission.
Alex nodded with a serious face before being continued by Ron, "Since six months ago, the total that disappeared amounted to twenty-four children from eighteen families."
Alex pulled out a map of the skin from the storage bag.
Slums occupy five percent of the western district of Xyras city. The map in Alex's hands shows the entire house in the slums, as well as marking the location of the abductee's house.
Alex counted the markers using red ink and asked, "Can Ron's uncle show three houses that have recently been kidnapped?"
When the previous adventurers worked on this mission, the number of casualties was still as many as twenty children with a total of fifteen families.
This shows that recently there were two children in two families, plus two children in one family who disappeared.
Ron of course remembered the map in Alex's hands, the map was created by previous adventurers to gather information. He pointed to three houses on the map, "These two houses lost one child each, while for this house lost two children."
Alex took a red marker from inside the storage pouch, then marked three houses that Ron pointed to.
When Ron tells the time of the incident of each missing child, Alex feels that the houses he is after have no pattern at all.
Alex is convinced that the abductors predict the adventurers will gather information in this way, so they do their job by choosing the location of the house randomly.
Alex pulled out a book and a pen and asked, "Did Ron's uncle know the number of children in each house?"
Alex intends to divide the house on the map like a table diagram. From the top left corner, he would name the letters of the alphabet by column, and the numbers by row.
"There's no way I can remember it. We can go around and ask every house now! Besides, it's still a few hours before night."
Alex nodded in agreement to Ron's suggestion. After all, the number of houses in the slums were as many as hundreds of houses. There's no way Ron's gonna remember the list of kids in every house.
Before the two left, Alex took out a bag of rice, along with some meat and vegetables from his storage bag. "Aunt Sarah, I have a lot of unused groceries. Can aunt Sarah cook it for our dinner?"
Sarah's eyes were a little teary at Alex's kindness, "Oh son Leon, but you are our guest."
"It's not that aunt Sarah, if I just leave it in my storage bag, this meat and vegetables will rot."
"Thank you Leon." Sarah smiled warmly at Alex's reasoning. He knew Alex was saying that so the two wouldn't feel guilty.
On the side, Ron increasingly praised Alex's kindness from the bottom of his heart. He sighed softly, then invited Alex to go around immediately.
Within five hours. Both managed to gather all the information about the number of children in each house.
The sun has started to fall on the western horizon, coloring the sky with a tinge of reddish orange.
"By the way Uncle Ron, how many people patrol at night?" Alex walked beside Ron, looking at the parents who were calling their children to return home immediately.
"We arranged for ten people who were divided into five groups, to stand guard in one night. After dinner, I'll take you to the post where the patrolling people gather, and introduce you to them." Ron said from the side.
The two return to Ron's house, and eat the dinner that Sarah has provided.
Inside the house, Ron explains to Sarah that he's going to be on patrol tonight. He intends to introduce Alex to the ten people who are patrolling tonight, before following one of the groups to increase the number.
Of course he understood that he would interfere with Alex's work if he was with her. He decides to leave Alex alone, and patrol along with the others
Somewhere high not far from the slums.
"From this position, I can see the whole house in the slums." Alex's first clone placed the binoculars in both eyes.
He is currently in a clock tower, which is outside the slums of the western district of Xyras.
Thanks to the height of the clock tower, Alex can monitor the entire slum without being hindered by other buildings.
He pulled out a map and a book from the inventory. Both of them contained information that the second clone and Ron had just collected, and stored it into an inventory for his first clone to use.
Although he could monitor from a distance, he still needed this information, to focus his guard on the houses that had children.
"Preparation complete! With this, I just wait for the perpetrator to do the action. Huh... Although I didn't expect another abduction" Alex muttered at the full moon hanging in the starry sky.
