Three Grey Disciples

The wooden planks on the floor were open, revealing a staircase leading to the basement hidden inside the house.

From the inside, a pair of men and women came out in quick succession, through a secret door that led downwards.

"Who are you? Why did you destroy our house?" The man in front shouted at Alex who had just knocked Tio unconscious.

"I'm sorry. I'm having business with this guy." Alex pointed his finger at Tio.

"What did you do to our sister?" Ask the woman behind him.

"Hooohhh... Looks like you guys got in a cab with him. Are you also a member of the Blood Star Church?"

The faces of the two changed hearing Alex's question. The man in front raised the wand he was carrying, then put mana into it.

"Rin, do it as usual. I'll divert akhhh..."

Alex drove up to the man and hit him right in the stomach before the man finished his words.

Thanks to his strong physique, as well as pouring a certain amount of mana into the blow, the man immediately fell unconscious.

"Smooth!" Rin jumps away from Alex, after seeing his friend defeated in one hit.

"Damn it! The new student messed up his first job. Even he brought someone strong here." Rin.

When he saw Alex gathering fire in his right hand, his face turned startled then he said hurriedly. "Wait on! Waitaminute! I was actually infiltrating the Blood Star Church. There is no need for a serious fight!"

Alex dispelled the previously created magic, and asked warily, "Why should I trust you?"

"I will give you all the information I have obtained, for some time I infiltrated the Blood Star Church. Of course I will explain it directly to the head of the adventurer guild branch of this city, you can also listen to it there."

"Give me some evidence so I can trust you!" Urge Alex.

"I just entered the Blood Star Church six months ago. My rank in the Blood Star Church is that of a grey disciple. Look at this!" The woman poured her mana on the knife she was holding and then shouted "Wind knife!"

The knife released a sharp wind that shot towards the wooden wall of the house. Although the wind did not cut through the board, there were sharp scratches on the board.

Alex let down his guard after hearing the woman's explanation.

After all if the woman was lying and was intending to escape, she could monitor him easily using the first clone that was in the distance.

The woman threw both knives on the floor near Alex's feet. "By the way, my real name is Jean. Rin is just my pseudonym in the Blood Star Church."

"Let's take these two men to the adventurer guild!" Alex did not respond to Jean's remarks. He only nodded slightly, then invited Jean to help him bring Tio and Galus to the adventurer guild for interrogation.

"Before that, you must return the children hidden in the basement. There's four kids we haven't given up there." Jean said, leaving Alex to single-handedly return them.

He reasoned that even though he was undercover, he still carried out abductions of children that made their parents grieve.

In addition to the four children below, he was also involved in assisting members of the Blood Star Church in the kidnapping of twenty children who had gone missing earlier.

He was forced to do so in order to gain the trust of the high-level members of the Blood Star Church, before demonstrating his true abilities in manifesting magic.

After successfully infiltrating deeper, then he would obtain more valuable information, such as finding the headquarters of the Blood Star Church or the others.

"Just calm. If I intend to escape, I will run away from there. My element is the wind, I also have artifact shoes that can accelerate my pace. I'm sure I can escape from you earlier if that's what I want." Jean showed me her shoes.

Alex sees Jean's shoes are similar to the shoes Tio had worn before. He was sure that if Jean ran away from him, he would have trouble catching up.

But there's something Jean doesn't know about Alex.

"Kids, wake up!" Jean opened the box, then woke the four.

After the children woke up, Jean told them that the two men who were with her had been defeated by the older brother before them.

"This brother will bring you back home to meet your parents!" Obviously Jean with a smile.

"What about Rin's sister?" Asked a boy to call Jean by a pseudonym in the Blood Star Church.

"Don't worry about me. Don't you want to meet your parents?"

The four children answered with a nod of their heads.

Behind Jean, Alex notices the four children are unafraid when they see Jean.

Alex is increasingly convinced by the situation he sees, but of course he will still keep Jean locked in the basement just in case.

After removing the four children from the basement, Alex pulled out a palm-sized bell, which was used to warn other members of the patrol.

Ting-ting-ting...

Not five minutes ago Alex rang the bell, some of the residents who woke up came huddling towards him. With the crowd, Alex also saw Ron and a number of patrol team members.

Alex recounts everything that happened, from the kidnapping of a child he had previously left to pursue Tio, to defeating two now unconscious and tied to the ground.

Of course there were some things he was hiding. Like Jean who is currently hidden underground, as well as the connection of this kidnapping case with the organization of the Blood Star Church.

He was thinking of allowing Zeff, the guild manager of the Xyras city branch, to first receive information regarding the Blood Star Church's interrelationship.

He will also let Zeff decide whether to make the information public.

"Why don't we kill these two people?" Shouted a man in the crowd. Her eyes turned red in light of her two children who disappeared three months ago.

"Wait first. I'm sure Leon's son has a plan for both." Ron calmed the person from anger.

"Uncle Ron's right. I will take the two to the adventurer guild for interrogation. I don't want to give you false hope. But if these two men tell me the purpose of the abduction, maybe I can find their base." Although Alex did not say to save the other twenty children, the parents who lost their children understood the meaning of Alex's words.

They understand that it is very unlikely, to find their child back, so does Alex.

That's why Alex didn't make a promise, which might hurt the victim's parents' feelings even more if twenty other children were not found.

The crowd dispersed leaving Alex and Ron, with Tio and Galus unconscious on the ground.

"Will Leon take the two alone?" Ask Ron.

"Uncle Ron, just calm down. I can carry both at the same time."

"All right then. I would like to say a big thank you for the help of Leon. Tomorrow morning, I will come to the adventurer guild to convey the success of this mission."

"Thank you uncle Ron. See you in the morning." Reply Alex.

Ron left from there, leaving Alex standing alone looking at the full moon surrounded by stars.

He sighed before lifting Tio and Galus over his shoulders, then opening the secret door, and walking down the stairs leading to the basement to meet Jean.
