Chapter 45: Mefras and Caena

A day had passed since the revelation of Helian's origin, Mefras himself did not have any heavy feelings about it because he understood whatever happened Helian was just a person swept away in uncontrollable circumstances.

Now Mefras was doing the thing he did yesterday; that is, walking the street and getting the townspeople to get used to him, on the way he found some people who needed a little help like grandma who needed to cross the street.

One would think in a world where there are no motor vehicles there would be no scenario where a grandmother would need help crossing the street but sometimes a crowd of people would be enough to get an elderly person swept to the edge of the market.

The man offered Mefras an item that was sold mainly fruits that looked delicious but Mefras refused it because he could not eat and he had no room to carry it, he said, the space used to carry monsters had not been cleared so Verite would not be happy to be given fruit that smelled of monsters and she was still willing to go around so she felt carrying it in hand would bother her.

while walking he found a green-haired young girl who was talking to a shop seller, in both hands was a shopping bag filled with various items.

Mefras instantly recognized this person as Caena, Mefras moved closer to greet him, the shop seller realized his arrival and looked up to meet his eyes, the shopkeeper said, Caena saw the shop seller's view change also changed her view to Mefras who came.

“hi Caena, what are you doing?” Mefr greeted and asked.

“Ah Mefras, I'm buying stuff for people in Blooming Bud.” Caena answered.

Mefras knew that even though Caena was no longer living in Blooming Bud she was still carrying things to her friend's friends there when she got more money from her job, Mefras was not at all surprised by this because he knew Caena was a good boy.

“Do I help you?” Mefras. “It looks like you can get a little help.” He said he saw a lot of stuff that Caena was carrying.

“Ah yes, of course, I am also talking about that.” Caena smiled, she accepted the offer happily. “I was just talking about delivery but since you are here you can take it and accompany me walk.” Caena said.

“By pleasure.” Mefras said before picking up the item that the store seller pointed to, it was a rectangular box made of cheap wood commonly used to deliver goods,  Mefras easily took the city and put it on his shoulders.

“Come to leave.” Mefras.

Caena Nodded and they started walking towards Blooming Bud.

“So how is his new body?” Caena asked, staring at Mefras face, she had to lift her neck to do that because of their height difference.

“I enjoy it.” Mefras replied, The little body that Verite made before was a freedom for Mefras but he would be lying if he said the body was better than the body he was wearing now.

“Iya, I see it. You seem to be more confident as well.” Caena said, voicing her observation.

even if Mefras knew his consciousness would return to Verite when his body was destroyed he still felt a deep feeling to protect his body and stay away from the threat that could hurt him.

“So how was your previous mission?” Caena asked, “It looks like Miss Gloom got a new employee because of it.”

“Ah, you mean Zorrel? Yes, he is the one we saved from monster attack, and previously he was chased by ruthless robbers.” Mefras said his experience of the mission he had done before, not expecting the day after that they were involved with the usurpation of the throne but Caena did not know it.

Verite is really living the life of a protagonist, Mefras is sure he will soon be involved with the seizure of the imperial throne or maybe the demon king who rose after a great war that occurred.

“Yes, at least Miss Gloom seems to like her.” Caena said.

“Of course a cheap and competent employee is a difficult thing to find.” Mefras joking.

“I'm serious you know, Miss Gloom won't save the person she feels is incompetent.” Caena said.

“Yes, I also often see you guys working there, his mouth may be rough but he is a good boss.” Mefras felt Miss Gloom's mouth could sometimes be too rough but the pay was high pay and she never asked for anything unreasonable.

“Oh we till.” Caena said that now they were standing in front of Blooming Bud which was not at all different from the one he had seen one year ago.

Mefras did not expect him to be able to feel nostalgia for this place, perhaps because this place was where he met Verite and his friend.

They entered Blooming Bud and Mefras got quite a view, they seemed to recognize him as a puppet construct that often walked the street in this place.

They arrive at Mr. Jardi's office where Caena drops all of her luggage, they talk moments before Caena comes out and ask Mefras to put his box in Blooming Bud's food warehouse. Mefras with his instructions went to put his box in the food warehouse that was behind Blooming Bud, gaining more views as he passed by.

After putting the box he walked back to Mr. Jardi's office, but before he left he heard the sound of children fighting.

“Ah you can not use this card!” One of the boys said.

“I can!” Another child said.

“No!”

Their fights continued back and forth, Mefras felt curious approaching and asked.

“What are you playing?” Mefras asked.

The two fighting children fell silent when they saw him.
