Chapter 43: Samurai of the East

Verite Bloome was now in his research room, he had already written down many of the concepts that Mefras had brought from his home world, in his hands was a small bottle filled with liquid that could store Mana energy that had various elements.

The concept he is studying now is bacteria, where energy can be stored in a liquid wrapped in metal containers and can be taken up at any time, if he can make this then the life of the world can once again be made easier.

 unfortunately Verite's research didn't go smoothly because the small bottles he was holding continued to explode because they couldn't hold the Mana energy steady, either, Verite nearly dropped the small bottle he was holding when he heard someone blurting at his door.

“Almost just.” Verite let out a sigh of relief as he caught the bottle before the small bottle fell.

“Verite you inside?” Verite recognized the voice.

“Iya, wait a minute Helian.” Verite tidied up his things and walked out.

“What's up?” Verite asked, Helian looks like a person swept by a storm.

“I was attacked by people, and Mefras stayed alone against him while I was reporting to the officers, I decided to tell you also after reporting.” Helian.

“You didn't come back to help him?” Verite asked.

“No, if you come back I will only trouble her.” Helian says.

Verite felt it was a wise choice, if Helian was on target he would be a burden to Mefras and Verite was not too worried about him because if his body was destroyed Mefras could easily return to Verite, because their bodies are still tightly connected.

“Alright, I'll call him.” Verite.

“You can contact him?”  Helian asked.

“Sure.” Verite replied, putting his left palm on his ear as if he were going to answer the phone, he didn't need to do this but this helped him to concentrate and smooth their communication.

‘Mefras, you can answer me?’ Verite started sending her messages.

‘Iya, I can hear it clearly, it looks like Helian told you about the situation?’ Mefras asked.

‘I know the basics, I just want to make sure you're okay.’ Verite.

‘Yes, unfortunately the person who attacked Helian ran away when the helpers came, she has a samurai friend who helped her escape.’ Mefras.

“Wait... Samurai? Samurai pack katana?” Verite asked, unintentionally voicing his words, Helian looked at him in confusion.

‘Iya, the type ‘sang sing you are dead’ samurai’ Mefras confirm.

“I should come with you! I want to see samurai. I want to see my robot fight against the samurai from the east!” Verite said, making Helian who witnessed this one-way conversation more confused.

“Verite? What happened?” Helian asked.

“Ah...” Verite realized what he was doing in front of Helian. “He's fine, but the person who attacked you managed to escape with the help of his friend.” Verite tells Helian what Mefras is experiencing by his side.

“Ah that's good news.” Helian says.

“So, can you explain what happened?”   Verite asked, looking at Helian. “I know you have something hidden but until people come to finish you off? Are you the illegitimate son of the emperor?” Verite asked.

“Ah... Long story.” Mefras said, it seems like he didn't think of covering it up.

“Wait, tell me when Mefras came here so you don't have to explain it twice.” Verite said, Mefras might want to hear it from Helian's own mouth.

“Good.” Helian shrugged her shoulders.

Helian sat down without protest, they drank tea until finally mefras got to this place.

Mefras got to Verite's lab for a short time, what kept him going long enough was that Mefras carried out his responsibilities as a resident and answered the questions asked by the guards, which he had said, Helian called out to them in a hurry so they did not know the full story.

Mefras explained what she was going through, telling her that she saw a child being attacked and moved to help her, engaging with a fight with the purple-robed person, she said, he also told them a description of the samurai's appearance that helped him blur the purple robe.

When they asked about Mefras himself he simply replied by mentioning Verite by name and the officers did not ask any more since they already knew Duke Bloome's second disciple.

After explaining everything to the Mefras officer quickly headed to Verite's lab, as he entered he was greeted with a scene of Verite and Helian drinking tea, which was the scene of Verite, The neat and professional looking Verite and the tired and chaotic looking Helian, it reminded her of a tv show about rich people modelling underprivileged people. 

“Ah you also arrived Mefras.” Verite said, suck the tea.

“Iya, I have to tell why everything was destroyed to the guards.” Mefras explained then facing Helian. “So, why did that guy attack you?” Mefra began to ask.

Helian was silent, seemingly thinking of where to start this story.

“Everything started when I was born?” Helian said, make her feel like a question.

Verite tried to hold back her laughter.

Mefras regretted his decision to introduce Verite with his humor.

“Umm, what's up?” Helian asked, looking confused.

“It's okay, you can go on.” Verite said he's calmed down.

“Alright, you guys know Duke Sunswroth?”Helian.

“I know him, he is the lord of Sunflow city is not it?” Verite asked.

Helian nodded. “Yes, but I spoke to Duke Sunsworth earlier.” Helian explained, Mefras seems to know where this is going.

“You were Duke Sunswroth's son before?” Mefras asked.

Helian nodded. “Iya, how do you know?” Helian asked, seemingly not expecting Mefras to guess it that easily.

“That's not too complicated, I'm sure the one who sent that hit man to exterminate you is Duke Sunsworth who is now.” Mefras said he looked at Helian with his green eyes. “When you carry the previous Duke's name it is immediately clear in my mind that the Duke who now wants to cut the seedlings that could threaten his power.”

“Looks like I don't need to explain much yes..” Helian said, wiping his eel.

“oh, please explain the details, you better talk a lot than we move because of misinformation, like is Duke Sunsworth now a bad person?” Mefras asked.

“I... Don't know.” Helian replied before going silent, “Actually I also did not know the previous Duke Sunsworth, either, all I know is that when my mother died Duke Bloome took me and told me who my father was and let me decide if I wanted to pursue my blood rights or not, he also made me learn Thaumaturgy so I could protect myself.” Helian explained.

Verite put his hand on his chin, thinking. “Why can Duke Bloome know your father's identity?” Verite asked, Mefras understood what Verite was thinking, did Duke Bloome take Helian in an attempt to expand his territory?

“I... Don't know, all I know is that I lived alone with my mother before she died of illness, I don't even know my father's face.” Helian said, she doesn't seem to know what she should do in this situation either. “I don't know what I should do.” Shoulders sagging.

Mefras was not surprised by this, even though how mature Helian seemed to be a child, the same as Verite, what could he do if he was involved with the conflict of two rulers?

“how about we ask directly with Duke Bloome?”  Verite advised.
