The Voice On The Rival's Head

The Voice On The Rival's Head
Chapter 2: Thaumaturgy

The next day Verite woke up from her second floor bed, she felt fit after a break after working hard the previous day, she saw her roommate still sleeping under her and decided to leave.

She got off her bed slowly, trying not to wake her friend who looked tired, after which she slowly opened her bedroom door and walked out.

'So Verite what are you going to do today?' The voice in his head asked, this voice calling itself as 'Mefras' Verite did not know the meaning of the word but perhaps it was a word that meant important to him.

'I'll meet jardi sir, I'll ask him about Thaumaturgy and what can I do to use it.' Verite explained, he closed the door of his room slowly and started walking into Mr. Jardi's room.

'Yes that's a good idea.' Mefras agrees, It is better to ask an adult than to do something that may be dangerous on its own.

'By the way how much are you about Thaumaturgy?' Mefras asked, he wanted to fill the time while walking.

'I told you, not much, I just know they can make things that help life and have the ability to control elements, '" Verite explained, telling Mefras everything he knew.

'It seems like a Thaumaturgist has a great contribution in society huh.' Say Mefras.

'Yes of course, our lives are easier because of them.' Answer Verite.

After the short conversation Verite reached Mr. Jardi's office, Verite knocked on the door with the back of her hand twice.

"Sir, it's Verite." He said, standing at the door, waiting to answer.

"Verite?" The sound came out of that door. "Please come in." She's saying.

Verite received an answer no doubt opening his office door and entered the office room.

In this office is Mr. Jardi, the person who takes care of this facility, Mefras can finally see him this father clearly.

Mr. Jardi had a rather fierce face, the incision wound on his face did not help, otherwise with his soft facial expression in it would definitely look like a thug, his body was no less fierce, too, he looks like a person who does a lot of hard work because his body looks like a person who lifts a lot of heavy stuff.

"What's Verite?" Jardi asked. "You don't have a job today as I remember." He said, scratching his chin.

"No sir, I came here just to ask." Answer Verite.

"That is, if I can answer it, I'll answer." Say Mr. Jardi.

"Do you know about Thaumaturgy?" Verite asked.

"Thaumaturgy yes... I can't use it but I know a few things about it, even if you want to learn it Blooming Bud has a Thaumaturgy class that you can take when you reach twelve." Mr. Jardi answered.

Blooming Bud, this name is what Mefras just heard, it looks like Blooming Bud is the name of this facility huh.

"Then do you know that Thaumaturgy can insert people's consciousness into other people's bodies?" Verite immediately asked, no longer stale.

"You asked this after reading a fantasy novel?" Mr. Jardi looked at Verite as if a father whose son had asked him to buy him a dinosaur as a pet.

"Haha." Verite laughed awkwardly he did not know if he was willing to explain that he had a voice in his head at this moment after getting that gaze. "Yes, can it be done?" Verite asked.

Jardi scratched his chin. "I've heard of people putting their consciousness into dolls, but I've never heard of a transfer being done to a human being again and if that's possible the person who did it might be the same as the witches who were in the legends." Tell Mr. Jardi, explain what he knows.

Seeing the face of Verite who seemed disappointed Pak Jardi added. "But if you want to learn Thaumaturgy I have this book, do you want to read it?" Mr. Verite stood up and picked up the book that was on his bookshelf.

Verite received the book and saw the cover, 'Thaumaturgy for Beginners by C.B.' written on the cover.

'Thank you Verite, maybe this can help us.' Mefras said in his head.

"Yes, I want to try it. Thank you Jardi." Verite said, smiling shows his gratitude to jardi.

"It's nice to help, I'm glad to see a kid who likes to learn." Say Mr. Jardi.

With that Verite said goodbye to Mr. Jardi, he walked out of his office.

'Let's start reading it.' Take Mefras, seeming impatient to learn the contents of the book.

'Wait a minute, we have to find a better place to read.' Tell Verite he wants a better place to read.

Mefras realizes that when Verite opens the book, he doesn't know anything about the writing system of the world, but he reads what Verite sees.

It seemed like their relationship of consciousness was more than just sharing a body.

Verite started reading the book's opening words.

"Welcome science seekers, I am the author of this book and I will discuss the purpose of why this book was written." Verite started reading it.

"First you must have known this book is a book about Thaumaturgy, the part of you who have just known this word will explain what Thaumaturgy is; Thaumaturgy is the study of mana and its relationship to nature and our lives and the use of that knowledge to enrich our lives." This book begins its explanation.

"Even if this science is very useful for everyday life I still have to emphasize the risks and challenges you will face in studying this field, Thaumaturgy is not a science that you will easily use, this science requires great diligence and attention so that you do not destroy yourself in the pursuit of knowledge."

Verite continued to read the book's opening words which went in depth to explain the risks and dangers of thaumaturgy and also to its use, it seems that the author of this book strongly emphasizes the risks and advantages found in studying Thaumaturgy.

Verite began to read the continuation of the book, he opened a new chapter.

"Part one: Getting started, because you've read into the strands and shortcomings of studying Thaumaturgy I go straight into the part that you definitely can't wait to do; the practice part. Of course doing the practical Thaumaturgy does not only include the recitation of the mantra and you can immediately spray fire, if using the science of Thaumaturgy is that easy then everyone will be able to do it, if using the science of Thaumaturgy, not the first thing you guys should know is Pathway."

"What is Pathway you must ask, the answer is easy, Pathway it is the thing part of your body that channels your mana from the Mana core of your body, without which you would not be able to do Thaumaturgy."

The next sentence sentence explained the existence of Mana there was what Mana was.

"So in short Mana is the natural energy that exists in all places, including your environment and body, you will use the Thaumaturgy formula to turn the following mana into a magic."

Verite continued to read it until he found a way to awaken the Pathway.

"Before you can do the things Thaumaturgist can do of course you have to wake up your Pathway and fortunately it takes time is a simple thing to do. All you have to do is draw the magic circle below and after you do that you have to be in the middle of that circle and repeat the formula listed here."

'You can draw that Verite?' Mefras asked, he doesn't have any good skills but maybe Verite can do it.

'I can.' Verite replied, he was used to doing things like during his work, one or two magic circles whose impels were not difficult for him to create.

'I'll take the tools I need.' Tell Verite he's back in Blooming Bud to pick up the red chalk he's got.

After taking the brang Verite drew the magic circle as easily as he said, after drawing it he sat in the center of the circle and began to concentrate, repeating the formula listed in the book.

Verite closed his eyes and the sight of Mefras became dark because they shared a vision, had nothing else Mefras did to concentrate on, he did not know the formula but imagined himself connecting Verite's pathways.

After doing that Mefras felt his consciousness disappear...

...

Slowly but surely Mefras opened his eyes, he did not know why but it seemed like he could control his body and it felt strange, like this body was not his.

And just like his mind, this body was not his, as he opened his eyes the thing that was clearly staring at him directly, this was not his body... At least will remember if his body is made by light like urorotaraman.

At least he could control this body, he had to think positively because he did not know where Verite was or if this was just a dream.

He was watching his surroundings and all he found was that this place was not the backyard of an orphanage, at least he believes the orphanage does not have space filled with colorful cable wires and looks like it is on a spacecraft.

He walked along the current of this cable, maybe this would lead him to something somewhere, and he didn't want to feel it but he felt that someone was calling him at the end of this passageway.

Mefras continued walking, he followed the passageway that seemed to have no end to a space that had a giant steel ball standing in the middle, which he had, in the refuted iron pole that surrounded him as if this would be the energy center of this place.

On the floor lay five wires that had ends and in the ball it had a hole similar in shape to the end of the cable below it.

Mefras did not know why, but felt that he had to grab this cable and plug it into the steel ball.

He doubted, was this the right thing? This isn't an evil being inviting him to do something he'll regret? Di didn't know and the path he was tracing died here.

So he did the thing he could only do, he picked up the lying cable, picked up the red wire following his feeling he picked it up, walking over the steel ball and with a sense of doubt striking it, fused the two objects together into one.

At that moment, everything became light. Once again Mefras lost his consciousness.
