The Step Sister of Tiri

The Step Sister of Tiri
188. Fevers

After the Ashar prayer, Hanif and Kinan sat on the bed leaning against the head of the bed. They both wanted to talk about Adam. Somehow the boy's future will be.

"Mas, what about what you said with Mama? Are you really going to adopt Adam if his family isn't looking?" ask Kinan who was curious from earlier.

Hanif took a deep breath. He was not sure of it either, but leaving Adam alone, the man certainly did not have the heart.

"Actually I also have the intention to go there, but all decisions are with you. You will often interact with Adam. He also spends a lot of time with you. I won't force you if you mind, either" replied Hanif, who was taken by his wife.

"Actually no, Mum. I am glad that Adam is in this house. Maybe this is also our way to learn to care for a child."

Hanif smiled, he was glad Kinan was thinking in that direction. "Let me take care of everything. I also need to consult with people who are more knowledgeable about adoption. Nor do we know who Adam's family really was. I'm just afraid that one day his family will come and sue us."

"Yes, Mas. I'm up to you. Although I've honestly started loving the boy, but he's not our right, anyway."

They chatted for a while, before Kinan came out to see Adam. The woman knew that Adam was not used to being in this house. That kid must be quiet a lot.

"Where's Adam, Bik?" ask Kinan when he enters the kitchen. He's been looking around, maybe Adam was there. However, it turned out that the boy was nowhere.

"Still in his room, Neng. Aunty thought she was sleeping" replied Bik Ira who was cleaning the house.

"I'm going there first, Bik."

As Kinan predicted, if the child must have just kept quiet. The people in this house are very open to him. Adam did not open himself. The woman walked towards the room, where the child was resting.

Kinan knocked on the door a few times, then opened it. Adam was sitting on the bed. The woman walked up to him and sat down on the edge of the bed.

"Why in the room, don't go out. If you play in the room, you must be bored" said Kinan slowly.

"I don't dare, Auntie," said Adam, bowing his head.

"Why not dare? Did someone scold you?"

"Nothing."

"Come, come out with aunt! Don't be afraid, everyone here is fine, really!"

Adam followed Kinan out. The woman knew that if the child was afraid, she immediately grabbed his hand. Kinan introduced some unseen people this morning. Like the gardener and the security guard.

Kinan took the boy to the garden beside the house and talked there. The woman wanted to get closer to Adam, she wanted to know the personality of the child even though she did not remember anything.

"You're here, Mama looking everywhere!" mama Aida just arrived. He seems to be carrying a plate of snacks. "This is Mama Beliin up ahead. Let's try!" continued the middle-aged woman by putting a plate of food earlier.

Kinan took the cake on the plate and tried it. "It's delicious, Ma. Where did you buy it?"

"There's ahead. Adam, let's try it! It's delicious" said Kinan.

The boy was still timid, but with Kinan's persuasion, Adam finally wanted to taste what Mama Aida had to offer. The woman was happy because the child had already started interacting with her. Although it was a bit difficult, Mama Aida tried to talk to him.

At first Adam was shy. But eventually the boy wanted to talk too. The boy also started telling me what he liked and didn't. That certainly made Mama Aida look at him suspiciously.

"Oh yes, Kinan. Earlier this morning he said baby Ars had a fever, is it okay now?" mama Aida asked between her meals.

"I don't know, Ma. I don't even know the news that Baby Ars is sick. Mama know where?"

"So, your mom said. He had made the status so, Mama asked it turned out that Baby Ars was sick and was taken to the hospital. Until now Mama has not asked, afraid they still bother."

"Try me who asked. I also don't hold a cell phone all day. For a moment I take it in the room first," said Kinan who immediately left from there. It looks like the woman is very worried.

"Why don't you want to go home?" mama Aida asked Adam, when Kinan was out of sight.

"You mean what?" adam asked back because he did not understand what the woman was saying.

"You don't have to pretend in front of me. If it was Kinan or Hanif, they would have always believed in you. I'm sure there must be something you're hiding from us. I don't know what it is."

Adam fell silent, he lowered his head. The boy didn't know what to say because he didn't want to talk.

"I won't force you to explain why, why don't you tell me the truth, but don't let my kids down. They believe in you and love you. You must know they're good people. My advice is to be honest with them about what happened. Before they know the truth and will hate you."

Adam lowered his head. Not that he didn't want to be honest, only that he was afraid that he would have to be sent home.

"Sorry, I don't want to go home. They will definitely be evil as me" said Adam slowly, making Mama Aida even more astonished. Who the child meant by their word.

"If it's like that, just tell Hanif and Kinan. They'll definitely help you."

"But how about Aunt Kinan and Om Hanif hand me over to them."

"You don't say anything, which is not necessarily the truth. Kinan and Hanif would definitely think of the best for you. I don't know what will be the outcome. Don't be afraid to tell the truth. You have to tell the truth."

Adam took a deep breath. There was such a great fear in him. Mama Aida is not really that. At his young age, he had to experience this. Surely the boy had experienced the incident that forced him to grow up.

"Already, don't think too much. Kinan is walking here. Don't show your sad face. Think carefully about what you want to do later," said Mama Aida who could see her daughter-in-law walking towards them.

The middle-aged woman also displayed her smile so that Kinan did not suspect anything. He also saw Adam trying to look fine.

"Adam, what's wrong? Is there something?" ask Kinan who can see Adam's sad face.

"It's okay, Auntie. My stomach hurts, I want to go inside first."

"Do you need aunty?" haggar Kinan's.

"No need, Auntie. I can do it myself."

Adam went to his room, while Kinan was still in the garden with his father-in-law. The two talked there.

"Adam why the hell, Ma?"

"Mama doesn't know either. Adam was silent while bowing his head. Maybe not used to our presence," replied Mama Aida soberly.

"Oh yes, Ma. I asked Mama Aisyah, she said Baby Ars is now cured. Although his body was still limp, but his fever had already dropped from earlier this afternoon. Ayman didn't even go to work because he was worried about his son."

"Yes, your mama told me, too, saying they were worried. Understand they still have no experience so, still afraid of dangerous."

"Isn't that natural, Ma. As parents we worry, if the child is sick?"

"Yes, that's natural. Just the name of the baby will often get sick. We as parents should always be prepared with any medicine that is suitable for our child."

Kinan nodded, he listened to whatever his in-laws had to say about first aid to a feverish child. It was also a lesson to him.

"If Hanif used to be sick, don't you, Ma."

"If it's your husband, don't ask again. Every week, my mom goes to the doctor. Even if given drugs at home will not affect. Must have met his doctor. Even without taking the medicine, it's gone down with his fever."

"Indeed it could be like that, your husband can," said Mama Aida who is possessed by Kinan.
