The Sanctity of Tarnished Love

The Sanctity of Tarnished Love
Dusk Confession

"I promise I won't let you down, but give me a little time to sort out how I feel, Ken. If I decide to marry you, I should be able to control my feelings for Dawn. And at the moment I can't do it yet, so give me time to put my heart in order first" said Dusk.

"Honestly I'm beginning to accept your presence, but this feeling is still not enough to establish a halal bond with you. Give me some time, Ken!" keep hold of Dusk while holding Ken's arm.

"I see, I won't get tired of waiting for you Aya" Ken replied as he clasped his fingers.

"Thank you son, your presence makes your parents' relationship better. Hopefully soon your mother will marry Papa, so you can have a whole family," Ken's mind while staring at Dusk, and his son. He was very happy to hear the confession of Dusk. Although she was not ready to marry him yet, but at least she could already accept his presence.

***

Andika Mahendra is a 32-year-old man. But because of his beautiful face, it makes him look younger, than his age.

Tonight Dika was in a simple house located on the edge of a small alley. Dika sat on a wooden chair, while accompanying a girl who dissolved in her work.

The girl is Anna, since the last month their relationship is getting closer. Although their age is quite far apart, but in fact they can establish a close relationship. Anna is a simple girl who is cheerful, friendly, intelligent, yet chatty. But it was her chatter that made Dika feel comfortable making friends with him, even with the presence of Anna, gradually Dika began to forget her feelings for Dusk.

Anna was the eldest of three children. His two younger brothers, one of whom is already sitting in High School, while the youngest is still sitting in Junior High School. Anna works to help fund the school for her sisters. Both of his parents worked at a grocery store not far from his home, the result was nothing, just enough for daily meals.

But even though they live in simplicity, but in fact this family seems happy, and harmonious. And not long ago Dika also knew, if Anna was Ken's secretary. The world is too narrow.

"There's so much work for you Anna" said Dika as she sipped the black coffee that Anna had served.

Since an hour ago Anna was struggling with her work, and it has not been completed to date.

"Today Mr. Boss did not enter Om's office, his friend went to the hospital. So I'm the one who cleaned up all his work. But it's okay Om, overtime this time the bonus is huge," Anna replied with a big smile.

"But you're gonna be tired, you need Anna's rest, too" said Dika.

"If you're tired I also rest, Om, this is a little" said Anna, releasing her glasses.

Sometimes Anna wears glasses, because her eyes are often tired if she stares at the monitor for too long. He deliberately stopped his work, because Dika had told him to rest.

"Anna!" call Dika.

"Yes Om."

"You ever been in love?" ask Dika without further ado.

"Why did Om Dika ask that?" asked Anna with a crisp laugh.

"Aware of wanting to know," replied Dika.

"Right," said Anna.

"Then?"

"What?"

"Then how are you guys related?" ask Dika.

"There's no connection" Anna replied as she shook her head.

"Why is that?"

"Love is only for those who have treasure, whereas I, my life as simple as this who will look at me," Anna replied with a bland smile.

"You ever been heartbroken?" ask Dika.

"Not heartbroken, but self-conscious."

"Well, she meant?"

"I used to like him Om, but he didn't think of me at all. He even had a relationship with my best friend. But yes I understand, he is a rich man, should have been looking for a partner from the same class," said Anna with a long sigh.

"Our story is pretty much the same" Dika said quietly.

"I mean Om?"

"Pity him, now how is he? Why did Om Dika not approach him, who knows now he can accept you Om," asked Anna.

"He rejected me," Dika said with a wry smile.

"really?"

"Yes, and now he's close to your boss" Dika said.

"My boss, you mean Mr Kenzo?" ask Anna quickly.

"Yes." Yeah."

"What woman is the Mother of Dusk?" ask Anna.

"You know him?" Back to asking.

"No, it's just that I often see Mr. Kenzo staring at his picture for quite a while, like there's a wound he's hiding" Anna replied.

"He was his ex, and now they're back close" Dika said.

"Patience Om, said Mother that the soul mate is not going anywhere. If indeed the Little Dusk Om Dika, surely someday you can be together. But if his soul mate Om is not the Dusk Ma'am, surely God gives a better substitute. Don't be heartbroken anymore, Om," Anna said as she patted Dika on the shoulder.

"You also do not break your heart" said Dika.

"I'm not heartbroken, Om, which I told you about a long time ago. I almost forgot about it" Anna said.

"Is that so?" dika asked, and Anna answered him with a nod.

"In a book I've read, the wound would be even more gawking if we shed tears. But the wound will be ashamed, and go away on its own, if we never care.

And I believe in those words, the more I lament my sorrow, the more real the pain becomes. But as I forgot, and ignored it, the pain slowly faded, and it disappeared somewhere long ago" Anna said at length.

"Really, what book is that? We do not sometimes need to cry to ease the burden, even though it is not excessive crying. But a little tear, the tightness in the chest will be slightly reduced" said Dika.

"Om like to cry?" ask Anna.

"No, it's just that a lot of people think so. Where did you get that theory yourself?" answer back to asking.

"From the book of Om."

"What book, who's the author?"

"Not a textbook, nor is it an inspirational book, it's a novel book Om. If Om wanted to know, the book was written by Gresya Salsabila, the title is About Taste. What I said earlier was a line of words that the main character had spoken," Anna replied with a big smile, showing her rows of white, neat teeth.

"Novelette book? I didn't expect you to take a lesson from a novel, Anna," Dika said as she frowned.

"If the lesson was positive why not, Om knew from then on I never cried again. I never complained, and I accepted all the facts that were happening in my life. I entrust everything to fate, if he is my soul mate God will surely unite us. But if not, surely God will present a replacement for me. Thinking like that, I didn't feel hurt, nor disappointed. My life feels so much more beautiful Om," said Anna still with long sentences.

"Your words are true, but not everyone can do that. It is quite difficult to think like Anna" said Dika.

"I know, but if other people can, why don't we. Don't dwell on the one thing that makes us hurt and disappointed. Because it will torture ourselves, while we actually also deserve to be happy," said Anna.

Dika did not reply, he just raised his face, and looked at Anna fixedly. This girl before him had always managed to strengthen his fragile heart. Could he be the substitute God deliberately sent to heal his heartache?

"Novel alone who is the author of ordinary humans can end happily. Especially us, whose way of life is written by God. Surely we will be much happier, than the story in the novel Om," continued Anna, because Dika has not yet answered his words.

Dika's lips were getting tightly clenched, the simple words that came out of Anna's mouth completely engulfed in her heart.

"Anna!" call Dika, after he's been riveted for quite a while.

"Why Om?"

"May I consider you more than a friend?" ask Dika seriously.
