Chapter 8 Second Skill Eri

Last night Mike and Eri fell asleep after nearly draining all the monster meat. But now Mike is awoken by a noise coming from out there. His eyes still felt heavy to open.

Mike yawned long while stretching his body. He and Eri spent the night in one of the buildings that still look sturdy. Mike himself prefers to sleep outside, but he can't let Eri get cold. Mike walked slowly to the outside, his eyes trying to open to find the origin of the noise that managed to wake him up.

Far ahead, Mike saw some people screaming in fear. It's like they're asking for help. Mike doesn't know what happened because he just woke up from his sleep.

"Hey, kid! You better run. Run fast or you'll die too!" A middle-aged man spoke with a face full of fear. He's trying to tell Mike that there's a danger far ahead.

"Sir, what exactly happened?" Mike held onto the middle-aged man's shoulder, trying to calm him down. But Mike's efforts were in vain. The man before him was getting more and more frightened.

"No, no! We're all gonna die. Nothing can stop such a creature. Is this the end of man?"

"Calm down, sir! Everything's gonna be fine. Nothing bad will happen." Mike smiled kindly at him, but the man cursed Mike violently.

"Who are you, huh?! Did you not hear all those screams?! And you said everything would be okay? Do you think you're a hero? You bastard!" The middle-aged man left behind Mike who was still frozen mute in his place.

He knows something's wrong. It could be that the monster he had let go back then had finally attacked the Tyghu population. Although Mike says everything will be fine, but honestly there is nothing Mike can do about the creature.

If indeed the creature that made a fuss was the goblin that Mike was familiar with, then Mike had no chance of winning. Even so, Mike still tries to find a way to stop the goblins that cause the fear of Tyghu residents.

Mike opened a system store, trying to find the potion he had bought. Mike hopes the potion still has a discounted price.

"There! But price..." Mike shrieked a little at the price. Back then Mike bought this potion with four hundred and fifty coins, but now he had to buy it with seven hundred coins. The price is almost double.

"It's just a coin, I can get it again if I manage to defeat that goddamn goblin." Mike solidified his determination to buy a temporary enhancement potion.

Mike smiled smugly looking at the hologram screen floating in front of him. Before he darted away, he made sure that Eri was still fast asleep. For the time being, the monsters that roam around are only goblins.

The main quest has not started yet, meaning the dimension break still does not exist. It was okay to leave Eri alone for a while. After all, Mike was confident that he could defeat the monster within five minutes. To be more precise, he did have to win in five minutes or it was all over.

After making sure Eri is safe, Mike quickly darts towards the source of the chaos that manages to wake him up. Sure enough, the monster ahead was the goblin he had met back then.

Mike knew this battle would not be easy for him. Especially when he realized that the monsters in front of him were currently stronger than the monsters of that time that he defeated even though they were at the same level.

"At least give me a little support, you bastard!!" Mike shouted as he jumped up his sword. He felt that the system did not give him any support for having to fight a level five monster in a tutorial quest.

The goblin quickly recognized Mike's stature. There was no way he would forget the young man who had slaughtered his family yesterday. For a night he pondered the events that befell him and his family. He was convinced that his family had done nothing wrong to the young man.

"We meet again, man! Introduce my name Zeru." After introducing himself, Zeru raised the mace in his hand as high as possible. He was preparing to hit the body of Mike who was approaching.

"I don't need to remember the name of the monster that's about to die." Mike stared intently at Zeru. He added his speed to the maximum level. Holding the sword to the left of his body, Mike twisted his body as he wanted to slash right into Zeru's stomach.

"Aakhch..!!!" Zeru roared loudly. A moment later Zeru slammed the club right on Mike's back. Mike's body was pushed to the ground, creating a small crater due to Zeru's impact.

Mike felt an incredible pain. He was hit by a truck at high speed. Mike spewed out a mouthful of blood. Almost all of his bones were shattered from the impact.

On the other hand, Zeru also suffered serious injuries. Mike's slash in his stomach was deep. Zeru's blood did not stop flowing from that open passage.

Mike smiled with satisfaction even in very bad circumstances. Looking at the already helpless goblin with a huge wound, he was certain that the monster would die from the lack of blood.

"Feel that, you ugly monster!" Mike curses with his hoarse voice. There was no part of his body that he could move except his eyeballs. Mike felt victory was in sight, but he did not know that his efforts might be in vain.

Not far from where Mike was, Eri stood blankly. He was shocked to see Mike's condition unfolding horribly. His view then turned to goblins who were not far from Mike. With a slash wound on her stomach, Eri could instantly digest what had already happened.

"Hey, did you make me like that?" Eri fluttered in his place without moving an inch, yet Zeru could feel such a huge and frightening aura from a little girl.

"No, from the beginning you killed my family! Am I wrong if I want revenge?" Zeru inched backwards as Eri began to step his foot.

"So, am I wrong if I want to repay your actions to papa?"
