The Doomsday System

The Doomsday System
Chapter 12 Meeting Other Players

Mike sat watching the city's stable state. Many of the completed buildings were rebuilt. Although not as big as before, but at least this is better than no renovation at all.

Mike took a slow breath. It had been a day since he had obtained the quest, but he had not managed to recruit any additional members other than himself. Never mind to add members, he even avoids interaction with others.

"If I make a party, won't they just be a burden to me? The new player must be just as weak as the old me, right?" Mike stared blankly at the screen of the system that displayed the quest in front of him. There are six days left. At least he should get one member within two days.

"It sucks!" Mike stood up. His eyes moved looking for players who were in the city. The system says that the number of players nearby is six. It was an amount too small for the size of a large city like Tyghu city.

"Do I have to go around the city to find a player?" Mike snorted in annoyance. His decision to become a solo player was thwarted by the system.

Only Mike can know the players around him. He was given the ability to see player levels just as he saw monster levels. However, other players could only see 6 monster levels, not fellow player levels.

Mike continued to observe the people milling about, noticing whether there was writing level above their heads or not. Until finally Mike found the first player since the main quest began. She is a short girl. Without thinking, Mike approached her.

"Hi!" Mike waved at the girl, trying to smile.

"Oh, Hi!" The girl was stunned to see Mike's sudden familiar behavior with her. For a moment the girl thought that maybe Mike was a freak who appeared as a result of a disaster.

"I won't talk anymore. And I'm also not the kind of person who's good at interacting. I'm sorry if I'm too outspoken, but you're a player, right?" Mike pointed at the girl in front of him, making the girl aghast in shock.

"Player? You're saying it's not just me who can see this?" The girl pointed at the empty air in front of her. No one else can see, but it's different with Mike.

"Don't confuse. Maybe all of this just doesn't make sense, ah it doesn't make sense. But even if it doesn't make sense, it's all real. Including you who was chosen by the system to be one of the many players around the world." Mike pointed at the hologram screen that was in front of the girl.

"I'll answer any questions, but shouldn't we get to know each other first?" Mike reached out his hand, inviting the girl to get acquainted. He paused for a moment, weighing whether to accept Mike's helping hand or not.

The girl was always wary of strangers, let alone the type of person who was like Mike. How could she trust a stranger she had even met for the first time? But considering there are many things that he does not know, whether about this disaster or about the system that was discussed by Mike. None of the two makes sense.

"Greetings. My name is Martha." The girl finally receives Mike's helping hand, leaving Mike's face filled with satisfaction.

"It's nice to meet you, Martha. My name is Mike. I wish we could be good friends." Mike pulled the two ends of his lips, painting a smile on his dirty face. For a few days he did not shower.

"So, can you explain this so-called system?" Martha again pointed at the screen floating in front of her. Already from yesterday the screen continues to show the same thing and does not want to disappear. Martha felt uncomfortable and curious about him.

Mike nodded with a smile at Martha's question. He was the first player before the other players were chosen, so it was naturally natural that he had more information compared to the other players.

"of course! Then can we find a quiet place first? Important things like this can't be talked about carelessly."

"Ah, that's right! I think sooner or later the existence of the player will be known by the world. So no need to hide it anymore. But to make it easier to explain so you can quickly understand we still have to move places."

"Basic strange uncle!" Martha grunted in annoyance. Just this time he met a shitty guy like Mike.

"Uncle said?!" Mike was surprised to hear that. He was twenty-three years old, but why was he called uncle? Didn't Martha call her sister?

"Uncle's beard and mustache have grown, huh! Did you forget to shave it?" Martha grinned at Mike's expression that didn't like to be called uncle. He gave Mike a small mirror so he could see his own beard. Mike fumbled his chin. He felt the fine hair that was starting to pop.

"I shaved it two weeks ago." Mike saw the reflection of his appearance in the mirror. He looks a little like an uncle. Whereas when he shaved off his beard and mustache, he looked like a nineteen-year-old teenager.

"Appearance changes everything." Mike complained about his current appearance. Though a few days ago he did not think about appearance at all. At that time all he thought about was how to become stronger in order to survive. But this time he only realized that appearance is also important for him.

"What did you do to not shave?" Martha raised next to an eyebrow, intending to mock Mike who put on a sour face.

"Stop calling me uncle or I won't give you any information. Though you might be nineteen, only four years younger than me. But you dare call me uncle. Fuck up!" Mike threw the glass he was holding at Martha. The girl painstakingly caught the mirror Mike threw.

"Sorry! But I'm twenty-three years old." Martha turned a lip, grumbling. But behind her annoyed face, she was happy because it turned out that others thought that she was younger.

"Ah, damned girl! Calling me uncle when we're the same age." Mike scratched his head, feeling confused about how to act when he knew it turned out he and Martha were the same age.

"Where should we go? You said you'd tell me everything."

"Well, I'll lead the way. But you have to prepare. Although I only give an explanation, but actually my own circumstances will explain it to you. So prepare yourself for all the possibilities that will happen."

"What do you mean by preparing? Aren't we just gonna talk?" Martha frowned. He had no idea what Mike meant.

"I told you that my own circumstances would explain it to you. There could be a dangerous event, but take it easy! As long as you're not far from me, you'll be safe." Mike stepped up followed by Martha behind him. They're headed somewhere where Mike's goal is to complete the sub quest.
